"Arrived about 10 minutes after call from office, and arrived approx. 45
minutes before scheduled appointment. Quick to start project, they
drained the hot water heater and checked all of the plumbing throughout
the house. They replaced a plastic valve with a metal valve on the water
heater. They were very knowledgeable, explained everything they did.
Provided me with an estimate for future work on the hot water
heater.

"We knew from a previous estimate that our gas water heater needed replacing and the lines needed to be updated. I called in the morning and got a same day appointment for

to come out and look at our water heater and give us an estimate on replacing. The prices were excellent compared to my earlier quote and we were able to upgrade to a 50

water heater for much less than we had originally thought. He scheduled our replacement for 2 days later and was right on time. Everything went as planned and he hauled away the old water heater and cleaned up as well. We are very happy with the receptionist and plumber, both were friendly and very responsive. We will definitely be using them again.

"Luie

flushed water heaters in my house and a rental. He also inspected the water heater and valves for leaks. What impressed me the most is that Luie showed me how to maintain the water heaters and flush them myself. Luie is highly personable and the price was reasonable.

"My water heater expelled all water, leaving me with a huge mess and no hot water. I called the provider and they were unable to send someone that day but did give me instructions for turning off the heater. They came at 8:15 AM on Sunday morning, 11/17/2013. They removed the old water heater and installed a new one. The repairman showed me a pipe that was installed wrong and told me it would have to be fixed but it would not keep me from having hot water. He showed me how to turn on the pilot light before he left. He returned on 11/20/2013 to repair the pipe that was installed wrong. On Friday, 11/22/2013, I discovered that I had no hot water again and called the provider. I tried to light the pilot light but could not get it to stay on. A repairman came that evening and determined that the tank had a bad pilot light system and the whole tank needed to be replaced. Today, 11/24/2013, a repairman came to replace the bad tank. He arrived at 8:30 am. So far, so good. A lot of inconvenience but the plumbers have no way of knowing that a new tank is going to be a lemon. There have been no additional charges and the different repairman have always been prompt and courteous.

"OMG the garage has water on the floor and the water heater was hissing. I turned off the gas, the water main and started to drain the tank. When I called at 10:39, they got hold of a plumber right away and said they would have someone out by noon. Got called back just a few minutes later and was told they had someone on the way. They asked if I was going to need help with the water cleanup, but I told them I thought I could handle it myself.

was there in just a few minutes. Took a look at the tank. Noted that the warranty had expired last year, but gave me the good news that I wasn't going to need a new tank anyway. Just a pinhole leak in the hot water line. He said they don't use copper flex much anymore. Replaced the line and cleaned up as much water as he could.

responded to our call with-in an hour of leaving it with call service. He came quickly to assess the problem, while we were trying to clean up water that was still draining from second floor water heater closet to kitchen. He worked quickly and efficiently. We really appreciate that they were able to help us on a Sunday. We are very pleased with the results.

"We’ve used J.R.’s Plumbing 3-4 times over about as many years and have had hit or miss experiences. Our latest experience with them will be our last.
We had a Water Heater that needed to be replaced we were quoted around 1,000.00 dollars so we decided to check into a Tankless Water Heater so they quoted us $2,500.00. After a little research on the cost of the unit (2,000.00) and the fact that we wanted it relocated into the garage which bumped the install price up to 500.00 we decided to upgrade.
Here is what happened:
They improperly installed the unit forgetting to install an overflow hose. 6 weeks later the unit just shut down and flooded our garage. We were without hot water for 2 days while they scheduled a call to come out. They charged us 119.00 to come out to see what was wrong because it was after their 30 day work quality guarantee. We questioned this after finding out they didn't install the condensation overflow hose and they still insisted on charging us because it took 6 weeks for their faulty installation to fail. So they realized and admitted they did not install the overflow hose and water backed up into the unit. This damaged the unit beyond repair – but they blamed Rheem (the manufacturer for the problem). They initially did nothing to communicate with Rheem on our behalf and told us we would have to call Rheem to have the warranty honored. Rheem had us take a total of 12 pictures and email them over about a 3-day period. We learned later they were looking for any reason to void the warranty. The unit is still shutting off and flooding our garage over this period of time. Rheem determines the Plumber installed the unit incorrectly and told us our warranty was

and void and that we would need to resolve the issue with the

. J R’s Plumbing sends out another plumber and he can’t figure out what is wrong, but agrees the unit is faulty. We still have a unit that is shutting off every day. We have to reset it and hope it works for a couple of hours while we bathe, etc. J R's tells us they can’t come out to fix the unit or replace it over the weekend so they agree that if we could get another plumber to do so they would pay those costs. Another plumber did come out and pointed to a code violation of the improperly installed Tankless Unit and agreed the unit was faulty but said it was because without an overflow hose for 6 weeks water backed up in the units reservoir and then flooded the units internal components, rendering it useless. The other plumber did not want to get involved in this plumbers mess so they did not charge us for the free estimate house call. J R’s agreed to replace the unit. The second unit had the same problem. At this point J R's offered to refund us our money and wash their hands of the whole thing, saying they were now losing money on the job. A job they clearly botched – they WERE not and ARE not concerned about us in the least. Evidenced by the fact that the last time we spoke they were going to come get the unit and bring a refund check. They didn’t show up and remove the unit OR deliver the 2,500.00 hundred dollar refund check as promised. We didn’t hear from them on the day we were expecting them so once again I had to initiate a call to them and find out what was going on. The secretary said she thought we were getting another bid from someone else so I explained in detail that the owner offered to come remove the unit and provide a full refund, an offer that we readily accepted. She assured me he would call us back to schedule a time to remove the unit and deliver our check. That was over a month ago and to this day I have not received a return call from Nacho at J R’s. The other plumbing company – came back to provide us with a quote to replace the unit AND identified the problem. The unit now “functions” but the installation is worse than if I had done it myself. The missing condensation overflow hose was identified by both plumbers as the original problem. Then the newly installed overflow hose was installed improperly (identified by the second plumbing company) causing continued backflow into the unit.
The second plumbing company proved their theory by removing the overflow hose from where it was tied into our Water Softener recharge line and allowing the hose to drain into a 5

bucket. We were able to confirm that the problem with the second unit was pressure build-up in the overflow hose whenever the Water Softener recharged overnight.

is not even aware of this because they never returned my two calls, they never emailed or showed up to fix a problem that they created.
So the unit functions but we don't know if we have a warranty on this unit, but we do know it was not installed to code, which Rheem says voids the warranty and we have an overflow hose that just hangs down into a 5-

bucket rather than
properly tying into our sewer drain.
Based on this unfortunate experience with J R’s we would never recommend them for any plumbing needs you may have. You can definitely find a more reputable and capable plumber.
Maybe I'll get a return phone call now.

"My water heater must have been leaking for a while so there was a big puddle in the garage before I noticed - I turned off the water and called
San Antonio Water Heater Installers Provider Name Locked
- it was after 5 in the afternoon but I got their emergency contact and gave him the particulars. They scheduled me right away and the plumbers showed up mid-morning, saw the problem was a hole in some flex pipe and a valve, and repaired it right away. They could have told me I needed a new water heater and I would have believed them since this one is relatively old but they were honest and took the fast, economical way of treating the problem. They replaced the defective parts and in less than an hour I had hot water again. They were extremely polite and efficient."
