Buyer Beware / Still In the Dark
After months of visiting Fabricators, Slab Yards, and Combination Fabricator / Slab yards I chose Key Stone Granite because of all of the hundreds of granite slabs I viewed, the perfect slab for my project. was one I had seen at Key Stone. During those months of research I visited many of the slab yards, fabricators and the combination of the two several times.
On my first visit to Key Stone I dealt
M. Upon leaving he took my personal information and xeroxed my copies of the project. *The first page was a detailed drawing of the 3 counter tops and 1 breakfast / serving bar including the the dimensions of all four pieces. *The second page included figures including the length times the width of each piece for the number of square feet of each piece.
I made my decision on April 4, 2014. At that time I was asked for a deposit of approximately half of the total cost. Fabrication and Install for the slab that I chose was priced at $66.00 a square foot. My calculation was 58 sq. ft. After conferring with the owner,
they gave me a 60 sq. ft. figure and I accepted. I gave them $2100.00.
On Monday, April 7,
from Key Stone called to let me know that he would be coming at 1:00 to do the template.
*Once there he looked over the
counter tops and the breakfast / serving bar that were in place. He determined that because I was having tile backslashes installed after the granite was in place, the
counter tops and breakfast / serving bar had to be removed to get a more precise measurement. As luck would have it I got a return phone call right after
left from Habitat for Humanity and they could remove the
that afternoon. I called
to let him know and he indicated that he could come back on Tuesday.
I made two visits to Key Stone prior to install. *The first visit was to drop off the new stainless steel sink . *The second visit was to pick up the sink. I also sat with
and looked at the Slab
computer pictures of the counter tops and the breakfast / serving bar.
The install date was May 5th. I called Key Stone and paid the balance that day of $2111.00 as was asked.
After much cleanup, the installation of my sink and disposal, and hook up of my gas
top I was ready to put my kitchen back together. As I placed the first of three bar stools at the bar my heart sank and I immediately got that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach! The bar was a full 8 inches short of the 23 inch width, with an overhang of a 17 inch clearance for leg room. I waBuyer Beware / Still In the Dark

counter tops and breakfast /serving s heart sick and devastated after all of the work and attention to detail that I put into this project that began for me in February.
My first call was to
who produced the template for the pieces. I let him know in the message I left that it was in reference to the bar. I never received a return phone call from
. My next phone call was to the owner
.
I spoke to the receptionist,
. I ask for two things, a receipt for the payment on May 5th and to speak to
.
She said she would email the paid receipt and asked if my request to speak to the owner had to do with the bar. I said yes. She said that he was involved and not available but that she would let him know. Her email with the receipt,
"
,
I've attached your paid receipts as requested. In Regards to the bar top, I let the owner know to contact you as soon as he has the
."
It NEVER happened! To this writing there has been no contact of any kind from anyone at Key Stone!
What I wanted from Mr
, was to work with me, move forward, and replace the bar.
I have learned since that a 15/16 inch bar is "standard" for some companies.
*Please note the asterisks (*) I feel that each represents an opportunity Key Stone had to discuss the 23 inch breakfast /serving bar in the drawing and that I was charged for in the square feet total I paid them.
Sublime Custom Stone to the Rescue
I decided to call Sublime. I had talked with them several times and they had my paper work on file.
I made an appointment with the owner
. He assured me he could give me exactly what I wanted.
He knew Key Stone and
. After our appointment
called to talk to Mr
about purchasing reminiscences of the slabs from my project . When asked what the call was in reference to he was told Mr
was not available. Mr
never returned his call either.
Please see Sublime Custom Stone Reviews
In closing.... I have my 23 inch bar! It cost me an additional $1755.00. Fourteen forty five $1445.00 of that was for the reminiscence piece charged by Key Stone. Sublime had a much smaller piece to work with and was still able to fabricate one piece...seamless! Not so for Key Stone. Beautiful job!
Total Cost $5,966.00

Overall we are very pleased. From the first contact with
through installation
exceeded our interactions with their competitors. The owner,
, met us at the slab yard and walked with us commenting on the various slabs. He also found a slab that, while was not in the original list of level we were looking at, was priced lower than we expected. The installation went well. While the crew was late, I did get a call before the time asking if I wanted to reschedule. They finished the rip-out and install for the most part in one day. Two pieces of back splash and some touch up caulking were done the following week.
had an arrangement for financing which made the whole thing painless. The finance company advised us to not sign off until everything was complete, so as soon as the back splash and caulking were done we called and released the funds. We had some minor scrapes from the rip-out but nothing major. Having dealt with construction trades in the past I do not think we could have dealt with a more polite and professional team. Good job

Very professionals, excellent communication, on-time and job well done. Crew on site was professional, courteous, and skilled. We got different quotes and they were one of the best.
First, we contacted another company and to be honest, I think they have so much work that the quote was three times the quote received form
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
. Second quote was kind of similar to
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
, but we would have to buy the slabs, and then the company charge for sqft of installation. So, if you have to buy three slabs (approx. 40 sqft each) at a price of $25/sqft, and you will use approx.85 sqft of the material, that's equal you need 70% of the material, and you are wasting $875 just in materials you will throw away.

This company gives you the price per square feet of the counter tops (materials and labor included), so you don't have to buy materials you will waste anyways.
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
also offered the removal and disposition of the counter top material, but I did the removal myself since I know someone that can dispose off the material with easy. The quote for the removal was fair-good. If you don't have the space for storage for the existing material and the way to delivered to a disposal center, I recommend you choose the removal and disposition.
The final product is outstanding (see the pictures). Just one seam and almost unnoticeable in the whole kitchen counter tops. At the end, they cleaned-up everything and wrapped the quartz with plastic to protect the surfaces from other remaining work around the kitchen (back splash and paint).
We are very happy with our contractor
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
and will use them again for future projects in the house.

These guys were outstanding. I had quite a bit of work done. I got one of the Angies' list big deals. I couldn't be happier with the way things turned out. They were consummate professionals. The price for everything was extremely competitive and there were no unnecessary or unexpected add-ons. I appreciated their integrity throughout the process and their advice on what would look nice and what wouldn't was fantastic (even if it didn't mean lining their pockets). They have done work for countless big time celebrities in the San

area. Notwithstanding, the owner (
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
) still found time to take care of a little guy like me on a Saturday morning because I couldn't meet him during the week day! He responded to my questions and concerns in a very timely fashion throughout the work. I am very critical of the work others do for me and consider myself somewhat obsessive and compulsive when it comes to having things done correct. I am a physician who is also VERY frugal (cheap). I can say that this was a great value. The only thing I would consider is the cost of backsplash. The deals at Home Depot are better than what Sublime could get me and it was a little easier for me to decide what kind of pattern to put up because I could go directly to Home Depot and figure things out on my own. Sublime was more than happy, however, to give me all the flexibility in the world and installed it without a hitch. It looks awesome--better than my neighbor's who had an interior designer figure something out for him. I am doing other renovations in my home and will post some photos when things are all said and done. Highly recommend.

This was our first contractor hire so we did the obligatory reading of reviews, calling contractors, setting up appointments and getting estimates. Angie's list was a lifesaver during this process. As with other reviewers, some contractors never called back or called weeks later, some would not provide you with a list of what they were going to do and what it would cost you, some didn't even take measurements before they gave you a quote. And then we made contact wtih
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
. When I called him he was on a job site and asked if he could call me as soon as he was done with the customer he was with. I said "okay". Really thinking "okay, next person."
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
called 15 minutes later and we made an apponitment. He showed up to the appointment as scheduled and called me to let me know he was on the way.
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
asked what we wanted and allowed us to tell him what our vision was for our bathroom, but would then make suggestions based on his experience, but always making it clear that it was our decision and that he would do whatever it was that we decided. He took some measurements and told us he would have an estimate for us in a week. As promised he had the estimate to us that outlined exactly what he was going to do and how much it was going to cost every step of the way. I liked the fact that he put down what allowances we had when choosing tile, countertops, tub, etc...
Our project did go over budget but not because of
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
, my wife decided to buy the most expensive accent tile in the world and countertops that had to be harvested by Peruvians with nothing but dull butter knives.
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
gave us a demo start date and as promised his team showed up and cleaned out all the old stuff in our bathroom.
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
's team was very professional, curteous and always willing to stop what they were doing to explain to us what was happening at the time. They always made sure our house was secure if they left before we were home and would clean as they performed the job. The next phase was installing tile, bathtub, resurfacing walls, painting and sheetrock repair. All was done exactly as we were promised. And after completing every phase,
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
would ask us if we were happy wiht the result. His team was very responsive. For example, there were three accent tiles on the wall that my wife and I did not think were laying as flat as they should be. After talking to
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
about it, he came, inspected them and by the next day the tiles had been reset exactly as we wanted them. This was
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
MO with every detail of the project. I have to mention the cabinets and the countertop.
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
suggested we go with custom cabinets versus ready-made ones. He gave us the price difference and we decided to go with the custom cabinets. We are extremely happy with that decision. The cabinets were made by his brother and are really well made. We went with
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
lines and they came out fantastic. On top of that the countertop we selected was cut exactly as it needed to be and installed beautifully. The bottom line is that my wife and I feel very lucky to have hired
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
having heard all of the horror stories about contractors. We would recommend
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
and his crew in a NY minute. We are enjoying our new bathroom and can't wait to see what he's going to do to our kitchen. Our thanks to

We have used Armadillo twice. Once for our kitchen remodel and most recently for our business.
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
has been a pleasure to work with. He keeps us informed of the status and goes out if his way to ensure our satisfaction. As with most remodels, things are bound to go wrong but
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked

It went great!
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
and his assistants were completely professional, reliable and careful.
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
listened carefully to me and gave me good advice when I sometimes asked for more than was really possible. He made every effort to please me. He cleaned up very well at the end of each day and covered the adjacent room with plastic to keep the dust off furniture and used tarps to cover the floor where they walked to and from the house. I have no complaints whatsoever and hope to have the opportunity to work with
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
again.

These guys were so nice and professional. They made it very easy for me to pick from the remnants on hand, since I just needed an island top for my kitchen. They were in and out of my house quickly and professionally. I love my new island top and will definitely use this company again. Very pleased with the experience with Sublime and will use them again.

Thanks to
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
my kitchen is beautiful!
They made use of every space. They incorporated open wine storage and a downdraft ventilation into my grey stained island.
I am in love with my new wide pantry , as it has added so much more storage than what I had before.
Our designer,
San Antonio Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
, was so easy to work with and paid great attention to detail. His attention to detail was well appreciated.
He made useful suggestions in different aspects of the kitchen that I didn't even think about when planning my new kitchen. but they have made a world of difference!
I had worried about this project, but it ended up being a seamless one. Thank you !
I would definitely recommend this company to anyone doing a remodel on their kitchen any day!
