"As many others have reported, the inspector arrived about 30 minutes late. He was thorough with his inspection, but seemed to delight so much in nitpicking, that it was very difficult to discern (or to get insight from him) on what was important and what was stuff he was simply proud he could point out when others might miss it. I know one might want an inspector to be "hyper critical", but it's also important to be able to communicate to your client what information is critical and what is not. The wood destroying insects inspection was done without my prior consent. I went with it anyway because I figured it was a smart thing to do. It was negative. So, imagine my surprise when two different pest control companies found much evidence of active wood destroying insects a mere month later. I'm fairly skeptical and like to be informed, so I accompanied the pest control folks to the home underside and had the inspector done an adequate inspection of wood debris under the house (which should be routine when charging $100+ for such an inspection) he would have seen the evidence too.
The inspection written report was substandard and included no photos and not a lot of detail...just general comments on problems without enough detail for the homeowner to be able to know how serious particular problems were or exactly where they exist to be able to address them."

"The inspectors for were friendly and courteous. They answered the questions I had concerning the property. They put together a extensive and detailed report for me to consider in making my decision. I believe Inspectors did a great job and would recommend their services to anyone who needs a home inspection."

"I have hired Buck three times to inspect historic homes we were interested in buying. He helped us realize that one house -- with rotting wood windows that had been disguised and a make-shift electrical system -- would be way too expensive to retrofit. He helped us to realize that another house had an addition that had been improperly installed with concrete foundation, when the rest of the house was pier and beam, and that it would be a constant problem of a house shifting and hurting itself on the different types of foundation. With our current house, he helped us learn about the various issues that needed repair. But, by that time, we were ready just to buy a house and get it over with. So, in this case, with his detailed report, we were able to negotiate a lower selling price to factor the needed repairs.
is very knowledgeable and earnest. He is a professional. Not only does he do a great job, he keeps working to learn how to do his job better. He is active in his field to improve building inspection standards and upgrade engineering requirements for new houses. A good guy that I give high to. Like he said, the real estate agents working for sellers don't like seeing him on the job, but when they are buying houses for themselves, they hire him to do a thorough inspection."

" was excellent right from the beginning. He introduced himself by name and with his business card, which had a picture. I appreciated this, especially since I was home alone and only new his name. He got right to work and was courteous and respectful throughout the visit. Upon completion of the inspection he walked me trough all his finding or showed pictures of what he discovered. That infared reader is amazing. explained what we would be receiving , such as a written report, as well as a document listing all he had found to send to the builder for warranty repair. After the inspection we feel even better about our home purchase. We feel this service was well worth the price. Thanks Mr. "

"We were to buy an old fixer upper (built 1917, 921 sq ft) and had the house inspected before sealing the deal.
Mr. gave us an excellent quote (compared to many other inspectors) and was able to come the next day. On the phone he said it will take approx 2-3 hours, but he ended up giving us 5 hours! (no extra charge)
We followed him around and he took time to explain and show everything in detail. He was very patient (we asked a lot of questions) and courteous. He did not have any attitude whatsoever.
When he crawled under the house to inspect our pier and beam foundation, he took a video and showed it to us later, so we could also see what's under there.
He sent a full report the next day along with photos and everything. Great service and would definitely recommend him."

"This is the 3rd house has inspected for us. He is very thorough, to the point of being compulsive. He will find every problem large and small. This sounds like a good thing, but his reports can be overwhelming until you can learn to sift out the small problems from the large. There is no defect free home, and will find all of them, from the stair that is 1/2 inch too high to the major structural problem with the roof. He will find scuffs and cracks in tile that are not noticeable to most people and are probably not a significant issue in the purchase of a home. He has found evidence of major structural problems on one home that someone else bought after we passed on it. (The house was un-insurable according to our insurance carrier.) On another home he discovered a severe mold problem after noticing evidence of a water leak by the chimney. He found a significant water leak on this current home, a possible structural defect that turned out to be a miss-sized header beam that the builder repaired, the range top vents ending in the attic (a code violation) and a problem with the AC return that while not a defect would make it less efficient to cool the home. The builder did agree to repair all of these items at a cost in excess of $3500- a good return on the inspection money. is busy and he can be late to appointments, though he will call. He spends a lot of time in the house, 2-3 times longer than other inspectors and his report does "nit pick" some, but you won't be surprised by a major flaw."

" arrived as scheduled and walked all three of the roof areas on our home. He wrote up his findings in a professional report with pictures for support. Without his report I would have had a problem getting the people who built this house to fix their shoddy work."

"Answered the phone immediately and made an appt, he honored the 10% off coupon in the Angie's List catalog. They were prompt, even early, to the residence, and got to work immediately. reviewed the outside and his partner, , performed the inside inspection. They were thorough, courteous, and very honest and complimentary of the house they were inspecting. Prior to leaving, reviewed the pictures with me on the computer and his immediate recommendations and findings. They came back the next morning to inspect the roof and promptly emailed the realtor and myself an elaborate report complete with pictures, comments and suggestions. They made me very comfortable buying the house after their thorough investigation and computer report."

"He was very nice and up front. He measured the house and initially gave an overview of the condition of the house. He followed up with the county tax codes told us it would not be worth the cost for a full appraisal. I appreciated the honesty, He came and did what he promised."
