Mispriced mishap

COMPLAINT: Verner Eglit, San Antonio

"On a Saturday morning, I purchased two chairs that I paid for by credit card at Too Good to be Threw Furniture. I told them I'd pick the chairs up on Monday morning. On Saturday afternoon, I received a phone call and was told that the chairs had been picked up by the owner because she disapproved of the price I paid. They also told me that my credit card had been refunded.

"On Monday morning, I went to the store and found out the chairs were still in the store. They said the owner had returned them that morning. The sales people lied to me because they made a mistake on the pricing. I'd never trust them on any transaction. I got no response from the owner of the store trying to make amends. He apparently doesn't care. I'll never use this store again nor recommend it to anyone."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like to purchase the chairs at the price they quoted me - $169 apiece."

RESPONSE: Ann Merisey, manager

"This is a consignment store. The furniture can't be sold for less than the owner's signed contract. The store was told one price by the owner of the chairs. The cashier checked with the owner, and the owner refused the price. She said she would keep the chairs before she sold them for $169. The owner was to reclaim her chairs. She called back Monday and said the least she would take would be $300. The member wasn't willing to pay the price the owner requested. The problem was resolved with the customer."
