was wrong so that the truck could be fixed. We received a call about a day later advising that they had diagnosed
that there was a problem with a catalytic converter and possibly a leak with a manifold gasket and that it was going to be $1,300.00. They advised that we had to pay in advance on a Credit Card, and so we paid on a Mastercard to have the required work done. Several days later we were called again and told that the fuel pump was also bad and that we had to pay another $1,105.00 in advance to have the truck fixed, but we were told that we would probably get 100,000 miles out of it now by the owner .
We picked the truck up on 23 11 and were given a 2 year/24,000 mile warranty (hand written onto our receipt) by the Store Manager …who has been subsequently fired, apparently, for too much re-work coming back…as were told by store technicians). We took possession of the vehicle and before we could drive it the 3 miles home the check engine light came back on. We took the truck back to . They reset the sensor light and told us that this was usual with exhaust work and that it was carbon build-up and that we should just drive the truck to cycle gas through it…that it should be fine. The light came back on upon driving off the lot, but we drove it to cycle a tank of gas and took the truck back. It still sounded rough to us, but they stated it was carbon build-up and they again cleared the sensor light. We drove off again and again the light came back on and so we brought the truck back. This time they kept the truck a week and the technician told us on one of our calls to check on it that it
needed new spark plugs. After it was supposedly fixed, we came and picked it up only to learn that they did not change the spark plugs. They told us that they “de-carbed” the exhaust and that it was fixed.
In the mean time we had contacted Corporate and were assigned a Customer Service representative (Mr. ) to our case and we also took our receipt for the work that had been done to Dodge in San . looked up the charges we were charged and advised that was overcharging us for the fuel pump they billed ($750.00) versus a MOPAR fuel pump through them at $420.00 and that ’s labor rate charged of $125.00 hour is more that the dealer even
charges ($99.00/hour). They also did not understand many of the items were billed for as to why. I told all this to Mr. at Corporate and was told that the on DeZavala was privately owned and that he can charge whatever the owner wants and that it was our problem...Mr. told us that it is just a case of “Buyers Remorse”. I asked Mr. if this was ’s position and they way they treat their customers and was informed that yes, that it is just our problem.
The check engine light came back on again, of course, and so we again brought the truck back and this time the owner told us that the exhaust was shot and needed to be replaced and that they had put a “band-aid” on it. We were upset as we never asked that a band-aid be put on the truck…we asked that the truck be fixed and were told repeatedly that it was. then told us that “he would work with us on the price” to fix our truck. We told him that we had already paid him $2,400.00 in advance and that they did not fix it and we were not paying another dime and expected the truck to be fixed. He told us that he would go look at the truck and figure out what could be done.
When we next were able to contact him a couple days later we were told that he would replace the entire exhaust system from the engine all the way to the tail pipe at no additional cost, but that he was going to use “Junk Yard” parts. We were again angry and requested new parts, but were told that this was the only way he would fix our truck. He then told us that he would give us a 3-year warranty, which we questioned how he would warranty the truck with junk yard parts, at which point he backed off and stated he would give us a 1-year warranty”. Upon finally picking up the truck again on March 6, 2012, we took the truck to Dodge in San on March 7th to have them to make sure the truck was safe to drive and to inspect the work done by . Dodge advised us that it was some of the shoddiest work they had seen and that we needed to come and see it, which we
did and took numerous pictures. The exhaust system was cut in about 5 places. Two different sized catalytic converters were installed and they should be the same according to Dodge. The entire exhaust system was not replaced (not the muffler or tail pipe), different size pipes were welded together. At one place, one was slid right into another and then welded around the
pipe. Dodge stated that the welds looked like they had been performed by someone who was training.
The Owner is rude and lacks any customer service values. He informed my wife at one point that he would not talk to her and that he does not like woman and her questioning their service and work was “why he refuses to talk with woman”. After our final attempt to have the vehicle correctly fixed, we were told by the Owner, , to “just come pick up our d*** truck”. We attempted on multiple occasions to try to get , the owner, to rectify the situation with repeated refusals. We even finally had a scheduled meeting with him on 21 Mar 12, which we confirmed the evening before, to only show up and have his staff tell us that he is not only not going to show up, but that he had left the state.
We complained about the level of service and fraudulent work to Corporate with no restitution. We filed claims with the Better Business Bureau to only have this retailer refuse to respond.
don't fall for the no-fee American Express card. We got the card for the travel benefits, but American Express later told us that the no-fee membership doesn't include any travel benefits. We could cash a check at their offices abroad in in major cities, but when we tried to look for one in a major city in South America, it didn't exist and no one knew what we were talking about. And no one took American Express, but everyone took Visa.
The card also earns cash rewards, but AMEX only pays out once a year in February. If you cancel the card, you forfeit any earned rewards. We wanted to cancel our card in November and gave up the entire year's rewards, more than $63.00. No one at told us this when we signed up for the card. And when I went to complain to them, there was nothing they would do.
Except refund my membership fee if I was dissatisfied. Which I was. And they did.
Upon inspection of all 4 tires, it was recommended the 2 front tires should be replaced. Considering all 4 tires were 6 years old and over the life expectancy, I decided to replace all the tires.
