"How'd it go? We want all the details. We have had problems with our basement leaking for many years. A few years ago we had two estimates to see what" it would cost and we were floored with the prices. Needless to say we didn't get the work done and decided to live with it. The water problem not only got worse, but the cracks in the walls also seemed to get bigger. We knew we had to do something. After calling four companies to come out and assess the problem, we had a good idea what we were in for with price. Each company had their own ideas and solutions. We chose to use Family Waterproofing Solutions.
, the owner, came out right away and by far created the best experience for us out of the group. Not only did he spend the time to teach us about our issues, he was the only one that genuinely seemed to know what he was talking about, (I work in maintenance/construction). He was the only one that looked on the outside of the house and he even water tested our foundation to recreate the problems. His price was also in line with the other companies, so the choice was easy. On the days of the work,
's crew showed up on time and were very professional. The work was very labor intensive and we were shocked with the final product. We have since had some weather and we also ran the hose in our worst spot...still bone dry. We would highly recommend
to anybody and thank you

"They were great. Installed a new pump and discharge line. Service Tech showed up on time and did a great job. Cleaned everything up and showed me how the pump works. Great service

Contractors say homeowners with this trait are the most satisfied with home improvement projects.

It’s easy to do, but forgetting your crawl space can have plenty of negative consequences for the rest of your home from poor air quality to high energy bills.

If your basement floods, two critical questions need quick answers. First, where did the water come from. and second, how much will the basement flooding cost to fix? Here's what you need to know.

Angie's Answers

Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

Basement Waterproofing reviews in San Antonio

Our experience with Kinetic overall was fabulous and we look forward to working with them in the future. During the estimate process,
San Antonio Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
Bombard, company owner, personally drove from
San Antonio Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
Park to Valatie on a weekday evening to accommodate our work schedule.
San Antonio Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
called me the same day I requested an estimate. Many other companies I called ended up calling me a week later. When
San Antonio Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
arrived he did not rush through the inspection/estimate process, he truly took his time. He listened to us explain the problem and provided us with a few different solutions/packages. What I respected most about
San Antonio Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
is that he did not try to upsell us as many contractors do! He provided us with some very elaborate packages that could have provided us with extra protection; however, was confident that some of his
San Antonio Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
packages would adequately do his job. I also greatly appreciated the respect level he showed me and my wife--in no way did he talk down to us at any point in the process. After the initial estimate,
San Antonio Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his co-owner (I believe his name was

) drove back down to Valatie to review the crawlspace again to make sure the quote was accurate and the proposed solution would correctly resolve the issue. This thoroughness was much appreciated because we did not want to get involved in the project and then be charged more due to an unforeseen problem--this has happened to us before by other contractors. Although Kinetic's estimate was slightly higher than other quotes, you pay for what you get. Their system requires SIGNIFICANTLY more manpower and labor than other systems. Compared to competitors, their system is installed deeper beneath the basement floor which keeps the ground water further away from your possessions (to me, this is logic!). In addition, the overall vibe, attentiveness, and thoroughness of
San Antonio Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
during the estimate process made the decision a no brainer.
They broke the project down into a three day project; however, when I expressed that I would like the project done in two days, they were more than accommodating. I couldn't believe it that they were able to finish the project in two days--you rarely see contractors finish ahead of schedule! The first day two employees jackhammered the basement floor and removed all the old concrete. They also leveled the dirt in the crawlspace. They were very careful and sealed off the basement door to the rest of the house during the jackhammering to prevent dust from infiltrating the rest of the home. When they carried out the old concrete, in buckets, BY HAND, they also laid a series of drop cloths to protect our floor. The next day a full team of approximately 8 men arrived and completed the project around 6:20 p.m. Both days, the employees arrived on time and they worked the WHOLE time. They are so considerate--they even offered to clean my floor where they accidently stepped off the drop cloths. The only time they stopped and took a break is when I asked them questions about the process, which they were always happy to explain what was going on. If I could do one thing differently during the installation process I would have paid the extra money to have them run the discharge line further away from my house. Right now a small puddle develops and because our house is on clay, the discharge area is incredibly soft and my tractor leaves tire

. I will probably extend the line myself in the spring.
After 3 months after the installation we could not be happier with the system or the company. Within two weeks the musty smell was gone and we have not had any sign of water at all. In the future we may install a battery backup sump and may finish the basement. We will also use Kinetic for yearly inspections/cleanings.
You pay for what you get. With Kinetic, you pay for: excellent service, the best product, and peace of mind. We would highly recommend Kinetic to anyone living in the Capital District.

who gave me the estimate to the two young men who did the work I cannot possibly give the praise they deserve. It's been a few months and my house is much warmer, it is dry, bright and clean in the crawkspace, and my heating bills have significantly decreased (between 5-10% as a modest estimate). No more fear of frozen pipes and if Ishould have to go into the crawlspace again, it will be MUCH easier and FAR more pleasant.
As for price? They were less than 60% of their nearest competitor. And I chose them all from Angie's List. All A rated with many customer reviews. Thanks, Angie, for the great folks and a great value. And thanks again to
San Antonio Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and the fine young gentlemen who did the work. -W.K.

The preview was thorough and the options and process were clearly explained. Did not feel pressured or hard selling tactics.
Contract was easy to review w/details of various components. Questions & concerns addressed promptly and courteously.
Team was very professional, responsive and respectful of me,my property, neighbors & tenants....More /> Cleaned up everyday, used well maintained and appropriate equipment.
Staff honored safety practices while working onsite.
Received a call when there was an unusual traffic problem caused a delay.
We have made referrals based on our very positive experience of a dry basement and no further leaks, damp basement or pools of water.
- Gloria S.

Everything that they cleaned up was good. They are in the business of water proofing basements and foundations. It is not the cleanest job you are going to get as far as contractors are concerned but bottom line is, they fix the problem. The field guy was pretty good and had a lot of experience as far as the process was concerned. The crew showed up on time and got it done in the time they said it would be done. A little cleanup problem, but that is all you've got to worry about. With that type of undertaking, then that is the least of your worries. Their price was very competitive.

After submitting a request for an estimate the owner called me and I described the situation to him. He advised that he was out of town so he could not come check it out for a week but we talked it through. I told him that while removing drywall I located a small hole in the slab on the outer wall. It was pretty deep and I thought it was the cause of a foundation issue. After discussing it thoroughly, he said that he was pretty sure he knew what it was and asked for me to send him a few photos to his personal cell phone. I sent them and he confirmed that this was a common issue with slab homes but not necessarily a foundation issue. He told me how to fix it with a few supplies from Home Depot. I really appreciate him taking the time to help me on this without any type of reimbursement.

Quite unprofessional and shady business. They charged our credit card for the complete amount before the job was done!!!! That was 16 days ago and the work is 75% done. Communication is terrible!!! They took 5x the time frame to do the work. They don't return your calls. They have no idea what the guys actually doing the work are doing. Terrible service. However the wall they build was not pretty but passed inspection. I hope we don't have to obtain legal help to get our house fixed after 5 weeks
- Sue W.

Overall, the experience was excellent. The work was done promptly (the project was completed in one day) and exactly in accordance with all the specifications in the contract.
San Antonio Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
explained in detail what they were going to do beforehand, and that's exactly what they did. When I raised a concern at the completion of the project about the location of the drainage pipe outlet outside the house, it was rectified very quickly and to my complete satisfaction. The crew did a very good job cleaning up after the work was completed.
San Antonio Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
responded to my initial contact through Anglie's List on the very same day and came out to our house two days later to inspect the affected area; the job was scheduled for the following day and the crew arrived exactly when
San Antonio Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
said they would. I would recommend Premier Waterproofing to any prospective customer without reservation.
- David P.

They did a very good job. They came out within a couple days and fixed the issue. Our basement has been very damp and we are waiting for it to dry up before we continue the work with them.
