"Outstanding job, for the following reasons: 1. Punctual and responsive. Responded to all calls/emails quickly, and showed up on time to do the job. 2. Price" was very competitive. 3. Very knowledgeable about his work ( ) - made good recommendations on what needed trimming and what didn't. 4. Crew of four was very thorough and responsive. After carefully cutting each section of limbs they would ask me if the work they had just done was satisfactory. When I asked them to cut a little more they were happy to do so - genuinely wanted to do the job to my satisfaction. 5. Cleanup - awesome! The yard looked much better when they left than it did when they showed up, and my wife really appreciated it. Many contractors just "do the work" and leave a mess, not so with Advantage. I have several neighbors needing some trees trimmed, and I will refer them all to Advantage - they did a great job. This is the type of contractor that is a real pleasure to work with.

-Richard T.

"Absolutely top notch from initial consult with to removal of the tree yesterday by , and" the rest of the crew. was responsive to my initial request, provided a written cost-estimate as I asked for and communicated with me about timing for the job (I was out of town for a couple of weeks after our initial talk). The team showed up promptly yesterday morning and were friendly, professional and did a first-class job. I was hoping to come home from work early to watch some of the work but when I got home they were gone!! My neighbor took a bunch of pictures and was amazed at how they did the job. I would recommend Arbor + highly; you won't be disappointed.

4 Situations Where You Need a Professional Tree Trimmer

Not sure if you should trim your own trees? Sometimes your tree problem is best left to a pro whose is trained in maintenance and other complex issues.

Tree Services - Removal and Trimming

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

Unless the contract stated they were to remove the neighbor's portion at the neighbor's expense it's your bill.  You simply stated they were to remove the portion on the neighbor's side also, not who would pay for it by what I'm reading, even if that was your intention.

Another route to take:  Technically you should be able to file a claim with your neighbor's insurance for the damage done by the tree and possibly for the removal of the tree including the portion not affecting you.  They may deny the second part but if they pay for damages in addition to the coverage by your insurance you've been reimbursed.  Don't take more than the $650 and keep all records so you aren't accused of insurance fraud.  Unless the bill was broken into 2 parts stating which amount was for the removal on your side and which side was theirs their insurance probably won't argue much about only paying part of the bill.  Talk to your agent about how to best approach this.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

Tree Service reviews in Salt Lake City

We realized eight months after they supposedly ground the stump that some of it was still in the ground. I thought we would never get him back to fix it after we had already paid him, but we made a call and he came shortly after the call to grind the stump. He gets an A+ for finishing the job correctly. I haven't worked with many places that respond ...More as well as he did.
- Melissa S.

and his crew are incredibly professional. The tree that needed removal was located between structures and power lines. He brought in a crane, and was very meticulous and safe about how he took everything down. The area was clean and no damage to surrounding property!
This is a great crew if you want great, careful work ...More done. I had to wait to be worked into his schedule, but it was worth it. He is a small business and may not be the best one for emergency/urgent work during busy times after a storm, but he is incredible with your trees. I found them to be responsive when I used text messaging after initial contact on Angie's List.
- Catherine C.

I would strongly recommend not working with this vendor. They
are unprofessional in many ways (more than I will be able to state here) and
proceeded with a job that I had not approved. If it wasn't for the fact that I
had been home sick to stop them, they would have cut down a tree in my backyard,
which I had got an estimate ...More on, but not approved the job for. When originally
getting an estimate for their service, the company indicated they wanted to use
my neighbors driveway to cut down the tree (better access). My neighbor had not
approved this because the company’s trucks were so big that they crack the
cement of the driveway. I had indicated to the company that I did not want to
move forward with the project because I did not have the cooperation of my
neighbors. A week later I was awakened by chainsaws cutting down the tree in my
backyard. I was home sick with the flu and it was lucky I was because I could
stop them. I indicated that I had not approved the project. Those that had come
out indicated they had a work order to cut the tree down and that they also had
permission you use my neighbors driveway. Now I'm in a position to mend the
relationship with my neighbor, as they had interrupted them and ask to use
their driveway before starting to cut the tree down. When talking with the
management, they were less than understanding. I mentioned that I do not
approve the job and that their people were out cutting the tree down. The
management offered nothing in the way of compensation. Thus, a few things that
were quite unprofessional about this company where that I was never noted that
there was anybody coming out to perform the job, people just showed up.
Moreover the work order was completely wrong. The way the management handled
the mistake was completely unprofessional. Once again, the lack of
communication with this vendor is horrible and I would strongly recommend not
working with this company or you might end up paying for something that you do
not want, which is what I almost did, had I not been homesick the random day
they showed up to cut the tree down.

- Sean C.

This was the among the best $140 I ever spent. Previously, I had considered renting a grinder and doing the work myself, being an inveterate DIYer. I'm so glad I though better of it!. I would have spent more money and time, and not been able to do the job because of underground concrete junk I was not aware of. spotted ...More the concrete while checking out the stump, and removed it as part of the job, without any damage to the good concrete. When the job was finished, I ended up with a nice big hole I can plant a new tree in, and a nice pile of mulch I can use in the garden. and are very professional and great to work with. is very skilled with the equipment, which is amazing. I've never seen anything like it before. He has a powerful diesel stump grinder tractor which fits through 36" spaces. It's radio controlled, so can walk in front of it holding the controller as it creeps along, steering it through the tightest spaces with no damage to anything. I recommend without any hesitation.

- Ada N.

is very informal, easy going. He will show up when he says he will, but doesn't feel a need to strictly schedule everything. He can seem lackadaisical, but somehow everything gets done in reasonable time. His great advantages are honesty about what does not need to be done, and a genuine love of trees. He is very knowledgeable, ...More sometimes getting into detailed explanations of the physiology and pathology of a problem. He seems to be a real scholar of trees, sometimes citing an article in a recent botanical journal regarding a problem. I am a physician myself, familiar with professional literature, and keeping up with it, and I think it would be difficult to fool me about scientific knowledge. appears to me to be the genuine article.
is one-of a-kind. I love him.

I left a message about meeting to discuss a tree removal in my yard. Provider never returned my initial phone call.
- Curt O.

Met with (who was knowledgeable), assessed condition of a tree in my yard and various options. I asked for a written estimate for removal of the tree and he said he would provide one (he had my phone number and email address). I never heard back from him.
- Curt O.

An appointment was set to come back the following Monday to complete the work that needed to be done. After not seeing anyone all day, a staff member called and stated they recently fired a majority of their staff and were not going to be able to come out for another week. That was the last correspondence I had with them (it has been over a month). ...More I have attempted to contact them to reschedule the trimming, but have not received a call back.
