"There was a bit of difficulty getting in touch with
initially, but after the planning phase, things moved well. They showed up with a crew of 5-6 men and got" working quickly. They were timely and thorough. They were sure to ask if everything was taken care of and answered all my questions.

"Atlas Tree service did an excellent job with my trees, BUT their office staff was so terrible that I cannot recommend them. If their arborists ever leave Atlas, I hope they contact" me because I would be so happy to recommend and hire them over and over. As other reviewers have commented the office staff provides terrible service. I had my initial estimate on
24 (the arborist came out on a holiday! he spent a ton of time with me, gave me a lot of free and helpful advice, was on-time, professional in every way). Then, the office staff got involved, and there was no-show after no-show after no-show to get the work done. The office staff never called me with any of the no-shows, so I would call them to re-schedule and the demeanor was aggressive, defensive, unprofessional. Finally the work was done on Sept 3rd. The office staff called to confirm the appointment the day before, and told me 'there won't be an extra charge for re-scheduling" - Seriously? after all the no-shows they were actually going to CHARGE ME EXTRA? When they arrived, the crew was great - friendly, professional, they cleaned up more than I would have expected, even, and they did a superb job with the trees. The next day, Sept 4, I got a phone call from the office staff asking for payment - reasonable - and so I asked for an invoice, I wasn't just going to give my credit card number over the phone and let them charge anything at all. Over the next 4 hours, they then sent me 5 haranguing emails demanding payment, saying that payment had been due on
30. But they didn't even do the work until Sept 3. Ridiculous. They apparently have a new operations manager and he was very helpful on the phone. If he can get their office staff situation sorted out,
would be my go-to arborist.

Hiring to trim trees? A how-to guide

Follow these tips to find a tree service that will clip with care and leave you with dollars for the rest of your landscape.

Tree Care and Services

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

Check trees before winter weather hits. A certified arborist can evaluate trees for potential hazards, says Kingzette. (Photo by Eldon Lindsay)

Are your trees really accidents waiting to happen? Before you're forced to yell "Timber!" learn the eight signs that your trees may not survive winter storms.

It’s very important to identify the tree’s root flare, which must be left exposed to the air and not covered with mulch or dirt. (Photo courtesy of Heartwood Tree Service )

Tree Service

If a tree on your property requires a professional tree-removal service, use the following factors to help estimate how much you should expect to pay before workers start revving up their chainsaws.

Angie's Answers

?

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

Once I got them to come out they did a fantastic job. I really feel like they gave us even more than we paid for. However, we had a really hard time getting them to reach us. I had to call three times. That being said I would still use them again.

Awesome. It was a 3 day project. They did a great job start to finish. The were careful about not harming the vegetation that stayed and cleaned up all the leaves, sawdust and branches when they were done. They are great to work with and kept me informed as we went. I highly recommend this group! If I ever need anymore tree services I will call them!

The job went great. The crew members were very professional, pleasant, and personable. I felt very comfortable working with them. They showed up on time, even calling to let me know they were on their way. Very large ivy was removed from a tree

as well. They did an excellent clean up job after they finished, removing all the wood. They even went beyond the agreed upon work and raked up old leaves and cleaned up garbage from the area where I am planning to install the fence. I would highly recommend

We have used
Salt Lake City Tree Services Provider Name Locked
for years and have always been happy with their prices and service. The latest service was a bit problematic because the date that the company suggested was during a long period when we were going to be out of town. When my husband explained this, the rep told him we didn't need to be there. So the appointment was made for June 5. When we returned home from vacation about three weeks later we found that about two feet of sprinkler pipe had been broken and removed, along with the tree. When I called to give this information to the company the representative quickly offered to make things right. I asked for partial payment of the sprinkler repair, and the company agreed.
Other than that, the tree removal was well done and there was little debris in the yard. It was a difficult removal because there was a power line directly under that tree. I will definitely continue to call Bland when I need tree service.

(the estimator) came when scheduled and so did the team doing the work, which is wonderful, because it seems to be so hard to find people who actually show up.
They moved other logs, rocks, and lawn furniture I had in the area, though I offered to do it myself, and then moved it back when they were finished. They cleaned everything up in my yard and in my neighbors yard where some of the debris from the tree they were cutting fell.
There was only one problem that was not their fault:
Salt Lake City Tree Services Provider Name Locked
thought they'd be able to do both trees; however, one was in a precarious location and was so huge that the work team felt they could not do it safely. This is the second time a person doing the bidding thought they could do this tree only to have the work team say, "No we can't!
All in all, True Resolution was awesome!

We set an appointment for him to come to my home to give me an estimate, but he wanted me to
Salt Lake City Tree Services Provider Name Locked
the trees FIRST, then he would cut them down.
He began describing how to do this on the phone, then stopped and asked, "Do you have a husband who is handy with a drill?" I wasn't initially offended as I guess I'm too used to this kind of ignorance, but it was extremely offensive. I WANTED him to come to my house just so I could explain to him that I did all the sod cutting and removal, landscaping, tree & bush planting, cementing, hauling top soil, rocks, chips, etc., and for him to ask if I had a husband who is handy with a drill is very offensive and that he shouldn't just assume one needs a p**** in order to use a drill.

are an absolute pleasure to deal with, as were the rest of his crew.

is very professional, but he enjoys a good sense of humor as well.

He stayed in touch during the scheduling process, showed up on time, and the crew did a fine job of clean up. They also took great care not to damage anything during the job.

There was a misunderstanding about whether a fence could be taken down in order to get to the largest of the willows. Since the fence in fact could not be removed,
Salt Lake City Tree Services Provider Name Locked
brought the enormous crane in to do the job right at his own expense since that was not a part of the original bid. It worked out well since another neighbor ended up needing a much larger tree taken down as well and went ahead and did it while they had the crane. It was good to see this type of honesty and adherence to original cost estimate get rewarded. The entire crew was pleasant, and worked with us closely to assure the back yard fence line row of trees was trimmed properly for the best view of the valley. A+ in all respects.
