"Our experience with
Salt Lake City Tree Services Provider Name Locked
has been great.

came out to give us a bid on our project.  We had the quote back within a couple of days.  They began work on the project about a week after we gave our OK. We have a cement fence that surrounds our backyard.  It is old, and was falling down.  Part of the problem was tree roots growing underneath the fence, causing the fence to buckle.  The other problem was the steep slope on the other side of the fence.

's crew first removed the trees which were causing the problem.  They had to remove the portions of the fence where the tree roots were growing underneath. After removing the trees, tree stumps, and roots, they reassembled the original fence, and fixed it in the process so it was aligned straight.  We thought we might have to get a new fence, but they were able to fix the existing fence.  It looks great!  Then, they built a retaining wall around the back side of the fence using pressure treated landscaping timbers, and filled it with high quality top soil.  Since I enjoy gardening, I wanted to do the planting in my new retaining wall myself.

were very helpful with suggestions of what kind of perennials and ground cover would grow well.  They finished the project by installing low voltage landscape lighting in my back yard.  It looks so beautiful!  They suggested putting a light up in my apple tree as well as lighting on the ground, along the fence.  I never would have thought of a light in the tree.  I love it.  The light casts wonderful shadows on the ground through the tree branches.  The shadows were really cool during the winter on the snow.  It took

about 5 consecutive days to complete the project.  They arrived on time every day, and completed the project on time.  I will definitely call them again next time I need landscaping help.

"After a strong wind storm one of our large trees blew over onto our patio. We called
Salt Lake City Tree Services Provider Name Locked
on the recommendation of a friend. He came over within a couple hours to give us a bid, despite being busy with other felled trees in the area. He couldn't get to it that day, but promised to come back the next morning. Sure enough, at 8:00 am the next morning his crew arrived. It took them just 15 minutes to remove the tree (and stump), cut it up and put it through the chipper. And then they proceeded to rake up all the branches and blow all the leaves off my patio! I couldn't be happier with the job they did. I plan to call them back to remove several more dead trees in the near future."

Living with trees in the Pacific Northwest

Large trees like Douglas firs provide wonderful benefits for your yard, but the bigger they are, the harder they fall. A Seattle-area contractor offers tips to make sure your trees are healthy and not prone to falling over.

Lessons from the Bradford pear trees

Once mature, Bradford pear trees often split apart. (Photo courtesy of David Lusk of Lusk Tree Care Services)

Planted extensively in the ’80s and ’90s, the Bradford pear tree became a dominant feature in many subdivisions, on commercial properties and in parking lots. All was well until 15 or more years after planting.

How to plant a tree

'"Right Tree, Right Place’ should take into account the mature size of the tree, not the size you want it to be, as well as ensuring the soil, water, sunlight and climate factors are all favorable for the tree species you are planting,” says Wes Kocher of the ISA. (All photos by Mike LaFollette)

Planting a tree is an easy job, but it takes more skill than you might think. The following tree-planting tips can help ensure you plant a tree that thrives.

3 common tree diseases

Trees add both beauty and value to your property, but like all good things, they also have a downside. Diseases and other conditions can quickly turn a living, vibrant tree into a pile of dead wood.

"Arborist arrived and walked the yard with me. Seemed well-informed, not pushy. Rep arrived on time on scheduled date of service. Sprayed trees, handed me the bill, left. Efficient, no fuss."

"Atlas sowed up within a few hours of my call and gave a good, complete estimate. The crew was there at the appointed hour, got to work, and had the whole tree down and cleaned up in what I considered to be record time. Great guys to work with and a very good job overall."

"They were perfectly ready and willing to come to do the work twice previously in a pouring rain! I asked that we wait for a good day. Today we had our times a little screwed up but it wasn't any big deal. The verbal quote on the pine tree (confirmed twice prior to the work) differed from the price requested at the end of the job by $50, but I just needed to remind them of the prior quote discussed and it was all good. They do such a super job! Very well coordinated (each guy is working on his specific part of the project), very hard workers, professional and skilled, and always clean up the place so it looks better than before they started. I can't say enough about these guys. I highly recommend them for tree trimming and removal as that's all that I've had them complete, but I understand that they also offer planting services and landscape design."

"It went very well despite a few days start delay due to a heavy snow storm. In sharp contrast to the previous tree-cutter who overcharged us, did a very poor job of fruit tree pruning, and never finished the removal of two 4 foot stumps,

and his three workmen did an excellent job of pruning and stump removal. They were fast but careful in their work and their cleanup was superb. Especially impressive was their unexpected kindness, at no additional cost, of also removing the many branches of a "weed" tree that because of the snow I had not had time to cut up and put in the recycling bin."

arrived with a team of two other nationally certified arborists to trim, prune, shape, and remove some trees. They were courteous, knowledgable, efficient, and they performed extra tasks (such as cleaning up some tree branches I had pruned from the day before) at no extra charge. They did exactly what

and I had agreed upon when he came out to give me his estimate. He seems very well-informed and passionate about trees (he prunes conservatively and has an aesthetic appreciation for trees as well as being professional about them for his business), and this made for a very good experience hiring him."

the forman showed up on time for the initial bid. The crew was on time, did the job to my satisfaction, hauled off all of the dead wood and left the yard clean and tidy.I would recommend this crew to anyone that needs tree trimming. They called me when they had a question as to how much I wanted trimmed off of the tree before going ahead. We met, agreed on the end result and they did the job in a timely manner. They were extremely courteous and friendly. You get your money's worth with this crew."

"I thought that Jonny did a great job. He is a certified arborist and he is a climber so he gets into the very tall trees and does the work himself. He stayed with the bid and he decided to prune the second of the pair of trees in the front yard because it bothered him to see it unpruned- he didn't charge us for that tree. He hauled the debris away. He was punctual and professional. All in all I thought it was a good experience."

both came over to do the estimate. They spent nearly one hour going over the job, explaining what the trees needed to remain healthy and safe. They also considered the shape of the trees and the overall aesthetics. They came to do the job when they said they would. They trimmed 4 trees, including a huge box
