Salt Lake City Movers Reviews

F
"They showed up in a timely manner. There were four workers provided, one man being the team leader. All of them smoked. They did not seem to work as a team, but were just running around grabbing stuff and putting it in the truck in a random fashion. They took several breaks to talk or smoke. The leader obviously wasn't respected and did not get cooperation from his men. Additionally when I unpacked at my new home, I found they had packed up dirty dishes, garbage and other stuff that logically someone should have asked me about or thrown away.
The worst part of this experience was that they broke several items of furniture during the move. And wherever they had the stuff stored was damp or the stuff got wet. This was during October and November and in Utah it snows during those months. Most of the stuff that was damaged wasn't of great value, so I chalked it up to a bad choice on my part of a moving/storage company. But one or two pieces were new and one was broken in pieces when I got it back, and the other had a leg broken off and a shelf busted out. This piece of furniture was a book/storage cabinet and was new and was well made. When they moved in the furniture to my new home, they also scratched a brand new piece of furniture that I had bought the week before. There was no reason for them to even be near that piece of furniture while moving stuff in.
They had me submit a claim form for the damage to the new piece of furniture and for the cabinet that was broken. They didn't say anything about the broken to pieces item, I found it after they left.
When I received the reimbursement for the broken and damaged furniture it was pathetically undervalued. There was a form type letter with the check that said my furniture was made of "particle board' and therefore wasn't valuable and so they paid cents on the dollar for what I estimated as cost. Some of my furniture was of that kind of quality and I didn't even bother to report the damage to those pieces, but the ones I did submit were of good quality and are now garbage thanks to the indifference in how this company handles furniture and the poor storage conditions.
I would NOT recommend this company to any one. They are not professional and they will give poor service.

"On time. Courteous. Final bill was less than estimate. The two gentlemen who moved us were hard-working and easy to work with. We would definitely use their service in the future.

"They were on the ball. They had to get our storage out and loaded, go to a furniture warehouse and pick up our new couch, go to two houses to get more stuff, and finally, send a lot to storage and the rest to our new home. They were so helpful and didn't complain one bit. I have really enjoyed using
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
and I feel like they are very aware of making their customers happy.

Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
is right. I called the company, a guy gave me an hourly rate of $75, which included two guys and a truck, and scheduled me for the Saturday after Thanksgiving with no hassle. He said they'd give me a call to confirm the day before the move, and they did exactly that.
The guys showed up on time, were very young but SO professional. They worked hard and were very accommodating. We had decided to take some more fragile stuff over to the new place ourselves, but when they were done loading up all the other stuff, they said they had tons of room in the truck and would handle it all carefully. And they did.
They were friendly but not overly talkative, which is good when you're paying by the hour. They followed us over to the new place, unloaded everything and were done. They would have put things in more specific places and set beds, etc., up, but I wasn't sure where I wanted everything.
The whole move took just over 3 hours and the price was much much lower than another company had quoted me as a flat rate.
So this was a great,
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
, convenient experience -- one of the first I've ever had with a moving company. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to move and would definitely use them again in the future. They rock!

"First contact: I called
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
and asked for an estimate on my move, which needed to take place the Saturday after Thanksgiving. He was very pleasant and friendly, and said he could give me an estimate on Tuesday at 10am, which was perfect because I work from home on Tuesdays. At first I liked the idea of a flat-rate estimate because then you don't feel like maybe the workers are going slow to stretch out the time. When he scheduled the estimate, he also put me on the schedule for Saturday after Thanksgiving as my moving day. I didn't want to
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
the slot, and he said if I decided not to go with his company, he'd just take me off the schedule.
Tuesday morning came and went, and no
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
. I had seen in other recent Angie's List reviews that they'd missed other estimate appointments. Not a good sign. I got busy with work, and didn't call them back for about a week. When I called back,
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
didn't remember making an estimate appointment, and did acknowledge that he'd missed a couple lately. He said it was due to a new iPad system they were trying out, so hopefully they've worked out the kinks by now and that is no longer a problem. At that time, he reassured me that I was still on the schedule for the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and I was really relieved that I hadn't lost the spot. I rescheduled the estimate and requested that they bring 30 packing boxes, which he was giving free to Angie's List customers who used his service (a very nice perk, in my opinion).
This estimate worked out a lot better. The guy (not
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
) arrived on time and brought the boxes, and I really appreciated that. He seemed nervous or something, because he was kind of unfriendly and mumbly. He walked through the apartment and then called
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
on the phone and described what he was seeing. I was a little surprised that they'd send a guy over to do an estimate who then had to call someone else to get the actual estimate. (NOTE: I later learned that
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
had to be out of town for family business, and that they don't normally do estimates that way, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that when
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
is in town, the estimate process is more straightforward.) They quoted me $480, which was okay because I really had no idea what was typical. The guy then asked me what day I wanted to move, and I told him I was on the schedule for Saturday after Thanksgiving. He checked his book and said I was NOT on the schedule. I told him
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
had told me twice that I was, and so he called
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
back and talked for a minute, then told me he could fit me in later on that day, in the afternoon. I was sort of frustrated by this time, but agreed.
The guy then asked for a $50 deposit right then, which I wasn't expecting, but he let me write a check for it. Then he gave me an information sheet, and told me that I had to pay the rest ($430) in cash on the day of the move. I thought that was crazy, and was upset at first, but then I went to
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
on the
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
website and saw that they did not have any credit cards depicted under payment options. So I guess that was up-front, but I didn't realize it was a cash-only business. When you're talking about hundreds of dollars for even a
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
move, paying in cash (or cashier's check) is not a good option. After paying a lot of money to get into my new apartment, I was hoping to put the move on a credit card. But I signed the paper because I was stressed at that point and wasn't sure if I could find another company, and the guy left.
After thinking about it for a while, I decided to go online and see if I could get someone else to do the move. While my experience with
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
had been a little shaky since the beginning, it was finally the no-credit-card policy that changed my mind. I found E-Z Movers on
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
, and called them and scheduled for that Saturday after Thanksgiving (I am reviewing their services as well on this site).
I called
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
to cancel with them, and I knew that I'd probably have to pay for the 30 boxes they'd brought me, which I was willing to do since I wasn't going with their services. In the end,
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
told me he'd apply that $50 to the price of the boxes and then send me the remaining balance, which he said would be about $20. So I appreciated that I didn't
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
that $50 deposit and that he was so nice about the boxes, too.
While at times I was frustrated with the company, I do respect the fact that
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
got back to me and explained why things hadn't worked out perfectly (being out of town, new iPad system, etc.). I'm giving them a B overall because he did try and make it up to me with the whole $50 deposit thing and made an effort to make things right.
I have to be honest and say I wouldn't consider hiring them again, mostly because of the no-credit-card policy. I did realize later, however, that the price I was quoted ($480) was basically double what I ended up paying the other guys, who were charging me an hourly rate.
Bottom line, I think
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
is a good guy who is trying to offer a professional, friendly service. He has some kinks to work out, though, and I'd recommend reconsidering the credit card policy.

"Totally blew me off. Made an appointment to get a bid. Drove home on lunch hour to receive the bid. No call -- no show.

"They fit me in on short notice, and showed up on time (actually a little early). It cost around $134 / hr for three men, plus there's a fee for coming out.
They put all the boxes where I asked them to, and carried some very heavy furniture upstairs without damaging it. They took a few breaks after wrestling with some 400 lb pieces, but they deducted the time from my overall cost. I didn't begrudge them the breaks, they worked very hard!
Overall they were very professional and worked quickly. I would recommend them.

"uIt went okay, but I think they needed a third person to do the job right, or have one of the two be very experienced with moving. The two movers that arrived promptly at 9am clearly did not know what the job was - when I answered the door they said "So what are we doing here today?" - which seemed a ittle strange to me as I gave very clear, explicit directions when I placed the order. They had no packing supplies with them and I ad to run to the store to buy more bubble wrap - they had no scissors or anything! It was like these guys were loaded into a truck and sent to an address without any preparation at all. But, they were real nice guys and very hard workers. I could tell they were not very experienced though and they had trouble with
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
things like telling me they could not move my king size bed to the second floor because it was too large for the hallway - until my 62 year old sister showed them the screws and how to take it apart - they had to use my tools for that as well. Like, what do you suggest - leave my bedroom set in the living room???
Long story short, these two guys worked really hard and meant well, but they were poorly equipped with training, moving tools and supplies and it was clear they were not real experienced. I gave both of them a generous tip in spite of everything because they worked so hard. It took them 10 hours to do what I have seen other companies do in 5 hours, and I still let them go before everything was really "right" because I was running out of money.
We especicially like
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
- one of the movers - he went above and beyond to help me put my hutch back together properly. The other guy had already fizzled out and just wanted to leave, but
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
wanted to help make sure I was satisfied.
I'm missing some critical shelving hooks and can not complete assembly my bookcase without them - so I MIGHT hire this company again if I have a guarantee that I will get well prepared, properly trained and provisioned movers, but not without that guarantee.
This was sad because I selected them based on their terrific reviews on Angie's list - first time I ever used this service. I'm not so sure this site is all it is cracked up to be now. :(

's owner,
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
, came to my home to give an accurate estimate for a full service move out of state. When the estimate came in higher than my budget would allow, he worked with me to find the best option that would fit both my needs and my wallet. At
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
's recommendation, I ended up hiring a trucking service to ship my belongings and
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
to load the truck. On moving day,
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
arrived first to introduce me to his movers and to give final instructions to his crew. Three men wrapped and loaded my one bedroom apartment very quickly, carefully, and respectfully. They were extremely pleasant and accommodating while working nonstop to get the job done during the hottest hours of the day. I really appreciate
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
helping me find a way to make this move within my budget. He was extremely patient with all of my phone calls and questions and provided invaluable advice. I would definitely recommend
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
to anyone planning a move. Should I find myself back in Utah, I will certainly use them again!!

"
Salt Lake City Movers Provider Name Locked
was able to schedule us for a Saturday move with a week notice. They did arrive in the late afternoon and had only one truck available with 3 guys, when they originally said they would use two trucks since they were starting late in the day. Nevertheless, the move went smoothly. The guys worked diligently with short breaks and stayed until almost 10 p.m. to get the job done. It was a long day, but I was happy with the service."
