"Wow! This whole project started with an question about refinishing kitchen cabinets based on another Angie's list positive review. It eventually turned into a complete kitchen/bathroom remodel that we are so very pleased with, and I doubt would have gone as well without Rich at the helm. His broad technical experience combined with boundless patience for my lack of experience made him the right contractor for us. What we started with: our old kitchen had beat up cabinets, some warped particle board composite countertop, an ancient electric , a lousy layout and vinyl floors. In addition, there was a tiny bathroom in the kitchen. Why would anyone put a bathroom in a kitchen? There was not much room for storage. The vent over the just went through a carbon filter and blew back into the kitchen rather than outside. Not ideal if you cook a lot. What Rich did: first and foremost, Rich listened. I did not call him thinking about a complete overhaul, did not start with design plans, and had no idea what to expect. Every step of the way, he worked with me to help me understand what decisions I had to make and to facilitate those. My plans changed several times, and he rolled with it, and never pressured us to move forward with something we weren't ready to yet. He has good relationships with granite people, cabinet makers, appliance stores and tile stores. This was helpful for us when it came time to make choices. It was also great because Rich coordinated everything and was onsite to manage everything on the rare occasion that some other company was doing the work (floor install, cabinet build and install, granite install). This meant that I didn't have to leave work to manage details and could trust that things were getting done right. He closed up the bathroom that was in the kitchen and essentially turned it around 180 so that it opens in a hallway that used to be a closet. He handled the electrical and plumbing work associated with that, as well as the drywall, trim and painting. In the kitchen he did all of the electrical work and installed recessed lighting and under cabinet lights. He put in duct work to vent my cooktop hood through the ceiling and outside. He managed the floor (marmoleum) install. He managed and participated in the design and install of the cabinets. Managed granite install. Installed new cooktop, oven, hood, sink. He painted and installed the tile backsplash throughout the kitchen (even working on Christmas eve so that I could entertain the next day!). Really, we couldn't be more pleased. Rich was great with our two big dogs, which made it easier to leave and not worry about them getting stressed out with all of the racket of construction. He communicated throughout the project when things went differently than initially expected, was clear about what we would be charged and when he'd be working in the house. We kind of miss seeing him, as we enjoyed having him around. It'll be awhile before we do any other major remodeling (have to replenish the savings first!), but Rich is who we will call when we do."

"Very good, prompt, on time scheduling. Pleasant, careful personnel. Tear out and replacement all went very well. There was a minor one day timing glitch at the end, but all work was beautifully completed within the original schedule plan. Would definitely use the designer and installers again."

"All jobs done were done professionally, timely and all people couldn't have been nicer. They all wanted to do a good job and asked repeatedly if that was the way I wanted. Would hire this contractor again in the wink of an eye."

" This was a large project and amazingly stress and pain free because of 's professionalism.
and I met in 2002 at Cactus and Tropicals. We were both shopping for plants and just got to talking. We hit it off instantly, and I decided then to hire him to remodel my downstairs guest bathroom. He designed it and built, and it gets frequent oohs and ahhs from visitor. It was the most beautiful room in my house until this just-completed project.
is a talented professional. He is dependable, honest and a perfectionist. He's considerate, punctual and self-directed. I never had to remind him of anything. He was my advocate with subs and suppliers. He knows someone in about every trade, and he wouldn't recommend them if he wouldn't use them on his own home. All the subs on this project were recommended by . He always returns my phone calls promptly. is a really nice guy and fun to be around.
I hired an architect to redesign my kitchen and was very disappointed with the results. It was not my vision at all. I discussed with what I was trying to achieve and he came up with the design that is my kitchen now. It's just what I wanted and absolutely beautiful. recommended the cabinet company for the kitchen. Their bid was thousands lower than the other two bids I had gotten, so I was concerned about using them. made arrangements for me to visit kitchen he had done using the cabinet company and to talk with the homeowners. I used that cabinet company and couldn't be more please with the result.
also recommended the granite shop and went with me to pick out the granite. He worked with the granite cutter and handled everything. When the granite cutters had to cut part of the granite around the sink actually in the kitchen, he stood there with a vacuum to suck the dust out of the air. I love the countertops!
goes way beyond the call. He brought floor tile samples, wood samples from the cabinet shop, paint samples to the house for me. He went with me to plumbing supplies to pick out sinks and faucets.
made sure my kitties were always out of way. When subs would leave a door upon and there was an escape, he'd wrangle the kitties and get them back in the house, no easy task. very recently dropped buy to hang so art for me, and all the kitties came running when they heard his voice. What can I say? He's become a member of the family.
is well organized and tidy. He cleans up at the end of each work day, vacuuming and stacking equipment out of the way. He also cleans up after other subs if they leave a mess.
worked Monday through Friday, but was always available on weekends if I needed advice on fabrice swatches, paint colors or just about anything else. has also become my interior designer. Even now I consult him about furniture purchases and placement, framing and hanging of artwork. He has an incredible eye for colors, textures and placement. He arranged and hung a group of old family photos on a dining room wall, and it looks great. Frankly, I don't make any design decisions now without his input.
came up with the design for the new fireplace with the bookcases on either side. He layed out the leftover granite from the kitchen for the fireplace surround and mantel.
I highly recommend . I don't have a single negative thing to say about him or my experiences with him.

"The job went very well, except for a delay when one workman returned to his home town permanently. Considering that the work was done through the Christmas holiday, we were not surprised by the delay. , who acts as the contractor, was extremely easy to work with and very fair when changes were asked for during the course of the job. , who does tho overwhelming bulk of the work, is an excellent, meticulous, and neat worker. We enjoyed the experience, something that is not easy to do when living in the house while the work is being done, and we are delighted with the result. Several friends have asked who did the work. We would hire them again without hesitation."

"This was the second time I used , the first time ~10 yrs ago they were great; however, the second time (~2 yrs ago) was a mess. It took at least 4 tries to get the sinks centered on the counter, and then tried to make us accept off center sinks and damaged "marble" by trying to give us a discount. They told us several different stories as to why they could not do it and why it was taking so long, and why the materials looked different. After approximately 1 year there was a leak (not their fault), but the repairman who came out confirmed that they had used two different products.
In general the shower is just held together with caulk that I have to replace every 6 months or it will leak. They pressured us to take inferior products, and acted as if it was our fault as we did not order their top of the line products. Kind of like if you ordered the good stuff you wouldn't have these problems.
It was very difficult dealing with the manager, and the many conflicting stories we got from their installers. It took well over 6 weeks to complete the job from their first trip. "

"The entire project took longer than we expected, but we're so happy now that it's done. Our kitchen is beautiful. There are still some minor items that need to be completed, but overall we're very pleased. is extremely thorough and meticulous and holds his work and his contractors' work to high standards. He is an excellent craftsman with extensive knowledge and expertise."

"They were fast in responding to my request for an estimate and referrals and were able to begin my project quickly. Their work is high quality and their estimate was right on. No surprises."
