Home Building Reviews in Salt Lake City

Where it says, would you hire this company again, they need a 'H***, yeah!' as an answer. I would hire
to do ANYTHING in my home. While
is a homebuilder (he built the home of friends of ours), he was thrilled to take on our 'little' project. When the one bathroom morphed into two, no problem. When that morphed into more plumbing and other projects, no problem. His crew is professional - this I know because I telecommute and I was HERE all day every day while they worked. They put sticky plastic down on my new carpet so as not to get it dirty. They were quiet when I needed quiet time for a conference call. They came and asked me questions when things came up, and always did what I asked them to do. When shutting on and off the main water caused all my faucets to clog up,
himself came and cleaned them out. And they don't use illegal labor. Most importantly, they just always did what they said they were going to do, showed up when they said they would show up, from the demolition team to the painters to the shower door people. It's not that there wasn't the occasional hiccup (needed more of one kind of tile, one shower door was cut 1/2 inch too large), it's that when the problems came up they addressed them IMMEDIATELY. I will say they're not 100% done. The electrician is coming back to finish the lights and outlets, and they'll need to do a bit of touch-up paint once the final backsplash tiles go in next week. But the bathrooms are BEAUTIFUL and so well-finished that I simply can't say enough. I had two bids for this project, which were nearly identical in price.
's allowances were higher, and i had the recommendation of friends. Any overage in price is because I chose more expensive finishes and tile, not because of anything that 'oops, this came up and we're going to have to charge you more for it'. That didn't happen. Ever. Oh yeah, and he gave us 2
Construction sweatshirts at the end so we can be 'one of the guys'! What more could I want? You would make NO mistake in hiring

The work went pretty well. We had a couple of problems with weather so things didn't get going until later than we wanted but overall I was very pleased.

Purchasing: he came down a lot in price, but wanted to close in 3 weeks. Our inspectors & financing were ready, but he could not finish all the loose ends. He delayed closing 3 times and even defaulted (we signed but it took him another two weeks to finish). He whined about providing a microwave despite agreeing to it in the purchase contract. There were numerous liens on the property from companies and contractors that had not received payment for their work and our title company demanded receipts for payment of all new work done on the house in the past 30 days. After closing he was nowhere to be found for the keys (we were rekeying the place anyways). After moving in several other issues came up: no hot water to the kitchen faucet, plugged washer drain, leaking kitchen plumbing, no closet door guides, creaky floors, flaking tub grout & concrete driveway, gloss varnish on slippery decks, etc. All in less than a month! Never returns our calls for the "1 year warranty" he promised.

promised twice to have his subcontractors come to our home to make a bid on our proposed remodeling. The first time he scheduled the meeting, he called a half hour before the scheduled time to say that he had forgotten. The second time he scheduled the meeting he did not show up and did not call.

I would definitely recommend this company to family and friends. The quality of their work was excellent. They did a great job making sure the home was completed on time and meeting my expectations.

The quality of their work is excellent. The contractor managed all the work the subcontractors were doing. The only issue has been the on time aspect.

This was a long time ago, but we remember the experience well not because things went terribly wrong but because we felt they went so well.

and his team were extremely professional, punctual and hard working.
As is usual, the job went a bit over schedule, but not by much. We also ended up spending a bit more but only because the initial folks hired to do the painting were doing a terrible job and we ended up changing to a more expensive, better painter. Even though it was disappointing to have the problem with the initial painting crew, it was wonderful to see

kick into action with his straight-forward professionalism: He plainly explained that the work was not up to his and our standards and they were not to finish the job, thank you very much.
Having significant work done in a home is never fun, but we enjoyed working with a contractor as straight-forward, fair in pricing and honest as

was. If you have a clear understanding of the work you want done and can communicate your goals clearly to

, you will be more than satisfied with your experience, I'm sure of it.

There were approximately 1/2 inch gaps in the fence panels and the posts. He tried to force the panels to the posts with screws and caused tension so when the weather changed, the metal contracts and expands and snaps the screw heads so the panels aren't attached to the posts. He says he's licensed and bonded and warrants his work. He is not licensed not bonded and obviously doesn't warrant his work. He's never returned my calls, Mt. States Fencing referred him to me and has asked him to return and repair the fence and he won't return calls. I have filed a complaint against him and he was investigated by the Salt Lake County District Attorney 's Office. He is being charged with Unlawful Contracting. I would encourage everyone to avoid this guy/company. You'll waste time and money only to be frustrated.

The broken pad at the basement entry and short retaining wall at the end of an adjacent flower bed was pretty straight forward. He jackhammered out the broken pad and retaining wall, trimmed the wall with a concrete saw and poured new concrete. The damaged foundation exterior was much more complicated. He pulled of the old, cracked concrete to expose the brick foundation. The brick was water soaked due to sprinkler water that had gotten between the concrete and the brick. He allowed the brick to dry out for several days and then applied new concrete to cover it and build the wall back out to the original dimensions. At the back of the house there was one exterior wall that a couple sections of the rough shot-

finish broken off. Previous attempts at getting this repaired had only resulted in offers to cover the entire house with stucco. No one else I had contacted even knew what the exterior house finish was.

not only knew what it was but knew who had done the work and was able to patch it with the same pebbly texture as the original. He also added a short, narrow concrete shelf at the bottom of the wall to help protect it from new damage. The whole project took him about 10 days from start to finish including the time for the water soaked bricks to dry out and the poured concrete to cure.
The $1850 was a real bargain for all of the time, effort and experience that

We have used this outfit for over ten years for many, many projects. Honest, clean, reliable. Terrific finished product. Show up on time, finish on time. Well-priced.- not the cheapest, not the most expensive. Bids come in with range and only go up if problems or you change something. I can't count the number of referrals I've made and EVERYONE Is happy with them. IF they have problems with subs, they get rid of '
