"I contacted
to do a thermal imaging and energy audit of my house, built in 1978. I already knew I had a lot of problems due to my $1000" energy bill in
of 2014, and the inspection report of my home mentioning many deficiencies. I just wanted to know what specifically I needed to fix to get the most bang for my buck. After the audit, they concluded I was completely lacking the proper amount of insulation in both my attics, which anyone could have know. They also showed with the thermal camera how my wall were heating up, because the cavity space between the wall was not sealed, allowing the hot air in the attic to heat my walls, making my AC even less efficient. We pointed out that both my AC units were over 10 years old, and had a 1 seer rating. Since we do not use the upstairs too often, we opted to only replace the downstairs 4 ton unit based on their recs. As for the efficiency of the duct work (which somehow passed a AustinEnergy Audit previously for sealing), it was atrocious. They were made out of cardboard, attempted to be sealed with plaster, had probably twelve 90 degree turns in each system, covered in mold. The flir camera showed that I was losing roughly 60% of my air to my attic. Also, the plums and return air for both AC's were completely undersized. Since sealing the ductwork wasn't an option as it had already passed the
Energy 10 point inspection (sarcasm), we figured it best to redesign the duct work, enlarge the return air intakes, and the discharge air plumes, to allow the units to work with less restrictions. The last thing the
did was seal off the the wall space from the attic, and add about 16 inches of insulation through out the attics. My energy bill this
of 2015 vs last
was a two thirds to a half reduction in electrical cost, which is great. Having a $300- $400 energy bill while keeping the house below 75 degrees vs a $800 - $1000 energy bill only cooling the house to 78 degrees during the summer months is a huge accomplishment. What was best about the
was how they talked to me, and informed me of everything they needed to do. I knew nothing about AC systems before talking with them, but I am an engineer. When going through the week points in the system, I knew everything they were telling actual made good engineering sense. That is why I decided to go with them, even though they ended up being more expensive than the two other quotes I received. It was their professionalism and their willingness to help me understand the entire system. In the future, if I would ever have to renovate an old house, I would know exactly what to look for. Hopefully I won't have to do it for quite a long time though.

"Their representative, Pierce, arrived on time. Very professional and personable. Showed where we could save energy by using hvac tape, vents, insulation and lighting." Very very thorough. The audit lasted about an hour.

Home Energy Audits

One thing homeowners can do to save on energy costs is to have a home energy audit conducted. This will reveal where drafts are entering from outdoors and where insulation is ineffective. Energy auditors can also recommend upgrades in appliances to save energy.

Windows, Energy Efficiency Auditing

Poorly sealed or insulated windows bring heat loss and higher bills. These five tips will help stop cold air, cut your bills and give you a cozier home.

Even in cold-weather climates, homes often lack insulation between the finished, occupied portion of the home and the ground. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Paul B. of Bluffton, South Carolina)
Insulation, Energy Efficiency Auditing

Exterior foundation insulation is an often overlooked home improvement. It can help stop drafts, lower energy bills and keep your house warmer during winter.

From first contact everyone at
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
was professional, responsive, extremely helpful and friendly.
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
came to do our initial audit and after a long conversation where I explained to him what we considered our trouble spots, he spent hours going over every inch of our house noting areas that were potential problem spots. Then he hooked the machine to the door that sucked all the air out of the house and walked me through the house with the thermal imager and showed me where all the problem spots were, some I hadn't even thought of as an issue. He gave me a detailed list of work that was recommended, costs and after discussing the pros and cons my husband and I decided that we would go with their recommendations.

They made it super easy to get things started and scheduled us right away.
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
came a few days before to review the work list and identified a potential problem with how they planned to do insulation over our kitchen. He came back the day before they were scheduled to do the work with his supervisor
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
and they figured out a plan to give us the insulation we needed without the need to tear down half our ceiling in order to do it. The new solution was more expensive but
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
called to give me all the information and cost info so we were comfortable agreeing to it.

On day one
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
and
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
arrived and despite the heat and how hot and stuffy our attic was got right to work and barely paused for a lunch break and a few water breaks. When they left they did a bang up job cleaning up and leaving everything neat and orderly. On day Two

and

returned along with

,

and

and they worked fast and hard to get everything done. At times these poor guys were covered in dirt and insulation and dripping wet with sweat but they barely paused in their work except for a few water breaks and their lunch break. I can't begin to express how pleased I was with their work ethic, their friendly and professional demeanor and above all the quality of their work.
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
went above and beyond when he saw an issue that was not on the work order and he felt needed to be addressed he made the necessary calls and got the approval to get the work done at no extra cost to us. When they did the air test they not only met the goal set to give us minimal air loss due to poor insulation they exceeded it! I have to give a special thanks to Beondi who was here for a short time and was so helpful in taking measurements of the skylight for me while he was caulking, that saved me a lot of hassle trying to get up there and do it myself. When they left everything was clean and orderly, they even made sure to use a leaf blower to clean up the driveway. With all this heat and how hard they worked I wish I could have offered them more than just some cold water. This crew definitely deserves some recognition and maybe a bonus for all their hard work.

Everything they did they explained, took pictures and showed me and walked me through every step so that I understood what they were doing and why. I'm not going to say it was cheap to have this work done, but this winter when we are toasty warm and not plagued by all the drafts that kept us shivering all last winter I will consider it money well spent.

I originally contacted
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
on 7/20 to schedule an appointment and it took until yesterday, 7/28 to connect with a representative and get an estimate scheduled. When you call the company an answering service fields the call and then a representative calls you back at his/her convenience. It took many rounds of phone tag until my free moment at work lined up with the representative's phone call. When I spoke to the representative, it took over 5 minutes to book the appointment, due to the ridiculous amount of information they require. Further, they scheduled the estimate date over two weeks from the date I spoke to the representative.Today, the same representative called me back to schedule an appointment, because she did not realize that we spoke yesterday.
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
's scheduling system is so inefficient and frustrating that it makes me nervous to consider their company for any work at our home.

Purchased the $399 Big Deal for a solar-powered attic fan, installed. Communication was acceptable (he prefers phone calls, I prefer email; not a problem, just a note).
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
arrived early and got right to work. He was in and done in a half hour or so, and while on the roof he noticed the seals on my other vents were cracked and offered to reseal them all for an additional $125. This was more than reasonable, so I agreed. He offered other services, which I declined at the time, but I will definitely be considering him in future should I decide to have them done. The fan works well when it's running. Very pleased with everything about his service and this product.

The energy audit is really a ploy to sell you a more
expensive, radiant
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
and solar fun combo that you definitely do NOT need!
If you read this review, be warned. Contact me or details. I have actual photo
to prove that the product "Radiant
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
" does absolutely NOTHING
to reduce your energy costs, in fact, my energy costs have sky rocketed since
they installed it.
I have a 5300sqft home. My indoors temperature has always
been between 84 – 86 degrees during the summer and my electric bills have
always been between $125 - $175 within the same timeframe. We have 3 AC units
which stay turned off throughout the day till when we return home. We usually
run 2/3 units daily in the evening and all day over the weekend.
With the above scenario,
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
, the sales guy and owner, was
very likeable and friendly. He’s really nice and responsive and as a person, I
can consider him a friend. However, the product he’s selling is a really bad
product that does not work! Hence the mixed rating. Bad product, great service
though.
I was promised that the temperature within my house will
drop to within 6 – 8 degrees of the ambient temperature and that my AC would
not have to “work as hard” to cool down the house every evening. It’d reduce
the cool down time from our average of 4 hours to about 2 hours. Just for that
alone, I coughed over $3,800 for Radiant
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
and 3 attic fans!
Within the same day of the install, I noticed that there was
no change to my regular temperature range. Forecast had 88 degrees that day and
my inside temperature would be 84 degrees…No improvement. So I cooled down the
upstairs to 79 degrees and left it at that the next morning, turning off the AC
and recording the temperature. Forecast 86 degrees that day. When I got home
that evening from work, my upstairs temp was at 86 degrees! No improvement. I kept
recording the temp and realized a pattern of zero improvement after the radiant
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
, in fact the temps inside were about 2 – 4 degrees higher than usual!
I contacted
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
and he was very responsive but he could
not provide me a solution other than blame my AC system which I had checked and
it showed that the system was in good working state. So…I spent $3,800 in PAPER
WEIGHT worth of Radiant
Salt Lake City Energy Consultants Provider Name Locked
…I trashed almost 4k! Learn from my mistake!

The worker showed up unannounced. The company never contacted me to set up an appointment. Luckily I was home when the worker showed. The ad said he would do 2 doors and my windows. All he did was one door because he did not have the material needed for the other door. Nothing was done to any of the windows because I said I had them done a couple of months before. He did not check any windows. He said he would see about a refund but I have not heard anything since the visit.

They did a very good job. They charged $99. They put right the clock for me and put the stripping in all the places that I needed it. The price was reasonable. They were two and they were working together. I would use them again.

It was okay. Most of the work they were suggested was with a company that I'm familiar with that is extremely overpriced. They also recommended someone to come out and inspect my furnace, but it would have been expensive and was unnecessary. The companies they were recommending were overpriced.
