I purchased the cabinets, appliances, range hood, sink, faucet, paint, undercabinet and pendant light fixtures in advance, and R&R provided everything else, including sheet vinyl flooring, quartz countertops and glass tile backsplash (all my choices from their suppliers), as well as my desired half glass-block, half awning style window. They did the demolition, plumbing, electrical, ductwork, appliance and fixture installations, fitting and adjusting the cabinets, and built a custom microwave shelf and various other elements. They also installed a utility sink on the patio for use during the project. Their subcontractors handled drywall, stucco around the window, fabricating and installing the counter and the flooring.
The countertop installer needed extra lead time between measuring and fabrication; we had to change window suppliers in mid-project; and the drywall, taping and texturing required drying and curing time. Except for those few unavoidable delays, everything went very smoothly, and most of the job was finished in about six weeks. There were no change orders, although I did pay a bit extra to have some of the drawer fronts reinforced to assuage my concerns about mounting the pulls.
The only sore point for me was that the drywall subcontractor didn't take enough care to seal off the work area, and he generated an extremely fine dust that found its way onto every nearby surface. R & R wasn't strictly responsible for this, but in the future I'll pay special attention to this issue.
I may not have the greatest design sense, but the kitchen ended up almost exactly as I had imagined it, and the final cost matched the original estimate. Between the two of them,
The top things that impressed us were:
- The crew was prompt, professional, and knowledgeable. They were extremely helpful and responsible and cleaned up the job site thoroughly every single day so that we and our toddler could go about our normally daily lives with minimal disruption every evening.
- Our job turned out to be much more complicated than originally anticipated, because of shoddy work that had been done in the home previously, which we were not aware of.
- The quality of their construction work was outstanding. The wall they built is visibly the cleanest work in the entire house. They also matched texture, paint, and moldings beautifully and managed drywall over a tricky and uneven step flawlessly.
We will definitely use them again.
door, eave prep, etc). His crew was always on time and performed quickly and efficiently. I have to complement Bill in his attention to detail. He did excellent work.
The stucco sub-contractor for this job did high-quality work. Due to their workload at other sites and the weather, my job was extended by a couple of months which was not a big deal. My only criticism of the stucco crew was that it was difficult to nail down their schedule. They had a tendency to show up unannounced or give very little notice. This is minor when compared to the quality of their work, which was very good.
I would hire

a. very competitive price on the work requested.
b. professional first site visit
However, it took a long time to get the estimate back from them, then after signing the contract and sending the initial downpayment, it took a bit of time for them to contact me. Unfortunately in the interim I rarely hear much from them...so have no idea of what is going on.
We are working out issues/pricing related to the door I want, but I think they are quite busy right now (was told they were on a deadline to finish a bathroom remodel) and this job may not be high on their list of projects. :-(
I will add or alter my review as time goes on and they actually start work... but I am looking forward to having them start work!
