I told her I would look for an estimate from another company and write a review of my experience. She seemed panicked as she didn't think the company did anything wrong. I assured her that they may not have. It is possible I did not see the voice mail she left me, or my phone could have not delivered it. It never seemed like a possibility to her that she thought she called and left me a message but never did. When I got off the phone with her I checked my voice mailbox and went through all the messages I received since talking to her the first time. None were from her. I then checked my phone log to see if she had ever called but the message failed. There was a record of me calling her the first time and at 2:42 today but nothing from that number.
I called back to let her know this and brought up the possibility that she thought she called but didn't. I asked if on her message she asked me to return her call. She said yes and that I was one of the only ones she called who did not return the call. I suggested in the future she reach out a second time to the people she doesn't hear back from in case they did not receive the message.
Bottom line - who knows if she called to leave a message. If she did, I appreciate it that but it doesn't do me any good if I don't receive it. The fact is I took a day off work and waited at home for them to show up. I wouldn't do that just so I can write a bad review on Angie's List. I'd rather have good experiences and write good reviews. My sense from her reaction when I said I was going to post a review and by her self-righteousness that it was not her fault is that she is very detailed oriented and usually doesn't let things fall through the cracks, and that this business takes its reputation seriously. But I can only report on my experience. Maybe my phone malfunctioned. You can make your own decision and give them the benefit of the doubt or not. If you do schedule an estimate, I would call a day or two before to make sure it is still on. In fact, during our initial conversation I remember her telling me she would call to remind me a couple days before the appointment. When I did not hear from her I said to myself "should I call her?", then thought "Nah, she just forgot to call." So I could have been more thorough as well instead of only relying on them to be thorough.
Update - The manager called to settle things. He said his office manager felt attacked & I explained that I also did. That's what happens when people know what they did but not what the other person did. Anyway, I appreciated his effort and upgraded my overall experience from a D to a C.
2nd update - I was off work early one day so I went to their showroom, not realizing it was the same place I had already reviewed. I got there right when they were closing and the manager, "
