Optometry reviews in Richmond

Dr K. Takes his time with each patient and enjoys a challenging diagnosis. He also will give you a detailed description of your condition. This is great but occasionally makes for a little longer wait time. Well worth it though..

Was scheduled for surgery after a 3 minute examination. Dr.
Richmond Optometrists Provider Name Locked
was brusk and did not answer any questions. He seemed in a hurry to get to the next appointment and more interested in getting a surgery scheduled than with what the injury really was. He said the eye would be unusable for 3 to 6 weeks after surgery and there might be lasting side-effects. Went to another specialist for 2nd. opinion who treated the injury without surgery. Recovered full vision in only four weeks. Now have complete recovery in that eye. I would not recommend Dr.
Richmond Optometrists Provider Name Locked
as he seems more concerned with making money than the health of the patient.

The check in process was very easy. They got most of the needed information when i called to make the appointment. I also called in my insurance information as well so i didn't have to fill much out when i arrived and i was a new patient so that was nice.
the check in staff was very nice as were the assistants that got me prepped for the exam.
The optometrist was very friendly, she did not act like she was in a rush to get tot he next patient. she made sure that i had all my questions answered and wrote out my prescription.
i will definitely return and use this office for my annual eye exams.

Made appointment three weeks in advance for routine eye exam with dilation. The latter element was a precaution to check for any complications from Type II diabetes. Initial exam was performed by a Nurse Practitioner (may have been a physician's assistant) who determined that a slight change in my prescription was needed. Dilation eyes drops were administered and I returned to the waiting room for 20 minutes. Dr. then examined me, found no issues related to diabetes, and issued prescription. His time with me was less than 10 minutes no additional tests or devices were used. (Note: This was not an "initial exam" - I had seen this doctor previously.) I have no cause to complain about the routine examination. But I was astounded when when I found out what the charges were: $418.00! (The exam was $393.00 and the lens determination was an additional $25.00) My insurance company (a well-respected plan with a major carrier) informed me that the "usual and customary" fee for such services in the
Richmond Optometrists Provider Name Locked
area is $160.00. This office charged me three times that amount! As a further clarification, Dr.
Richmond Optometrists Provider Name Locked
is an Optometrist (general eye doctor) and not an Opthalmologist (specialist in surgical care of eye health problems.) Clearly I have no one to blame but myself - I should have asked what they charged in advance. But I won't make that same mistake a second time, nor visit this office again.
