Richmond HVAC Contractors Reviews

"The installation went fine. There was an issue with with one air supply which

fixed immediately. Over the years, we have used
Richmond HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
for all our mechanical needs after being dissatisfied with a couple of other companies. We have never received anything but solid advice and service.
"He installed the wrong equipment for the house, putting in a multi-family heat exchanger which voided manufacturer warranties of the other equipment. He plumbed the boiler incorrectly, which understates the amateurish way in which it was done.. He tried to install a ductless system in the downstairs heat exchanger, but didn't seal off the unit from the crawl space or account for dirt falling from the staircase above it. He failed to connect the water lines to the upstairs unit, so when the main contractor turned on the water, the house flooded. Air ducts under the house were crimped and left to hang down on the soil grade.
Most recently I have been told that he used undersized pex pipe to plumb the Aqua-therm units, which is one of the few things which hasn't completely been redone from his original work.
I did not hire him directly. He was the low cost choice of my Main Contractor and a major contributing factor as to why I found myself in Court with the same. I won the case easily (but at much legal cost),
Richmond HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
testified that he wasn't fully paid, and the Main Contractor filed for Bankruptcy soon thereafter.
He came to me after the Main Contractor was fired to seek payment directly. Not knowing the extent of his poor workmanship at that time, I toured the house with him and mentioned the sloppy duct work. He claimed that the air flow was strong and that I had no problem. I am not HVAC qualified, but I know that putting your finger over a garden hose increases pressure, but decreases the volume through the hose. He was painfully inept in explaining away his work.
I would look for a contractor with solid references.
"They are terrific to work with. During inspection, they did find some leaks that needed repair. No high pressure to fix, just a clear explanation. I will use them to do the repair work.

provided a detailed estimate after explaining to us all our options and his best recommendations which I painstakingly researched with other pros and the internet. We ended up with two 2.5 ton Trane heat pump system and a complete rework of location of the condensers outside, the duct work inside, addition of an air handler in the attic and replacement of the air handler in the garage. All work was completed professionally and in a timely manner. They even emptied out the attic to get to the areas they needed and replaced everything when they were done. I appreciated the follow up of a quality control person who was sent out 3 weeks later to perform a comprehensive QC on every aspect of the system completing a details diagnostic of the system. We had a top of the line (for the time frame) Carrier unit before. The new Trane 2 zone system has worked awesome through the brutal cold winter of 2014 and we are very comfortable day and night. I haven't looked at the Dominion power consumption details on line yet but judging from my bill things are much more efficient. "
"Purchased the $59 diagnostic deal on Angie's List. Called and scheduled an appointment that was rescheduled to the next day. Polite and Friendly Technicians arrived on time and promptly diagnosed the problem with our "split" heat pump unit. The system was reset for an additional charge of $25. They took the time to explain the problem and solution with us"
"During the process of servicing the oil furnace, changing nozzle and filter, tried to bleed the air out of the oil pump and deadheaded the pump and ruptured the seal spraying oil all over the floor.
He told me my pump was broken and spray oil out on the floor and that I needed a new pump. The furnace worked good until he messed with it. I had recently been under the house and would have noticed a oil leak problem.
After the old pump was removed I examined the seal and it was ruptured with a portion of it sticking out.
The service cost $200 and the pump and installation was $250.

Able doesn't know what he's doing or doesn't focus on the task. He could have set fire to my house.

was terrific! We called him on a friend's recommendation, and are very pleased. He responded quickly and efficiently identified the problem as a bad capacitor. He explained everything clearly, and he was very conscientious and thorough. The cost was quite reasonable.

worked for a larger firm for many years and is now a one-man operation. He is friendly and extremely knowlegeable. We will definitely call him again."
"The service technician performed all of the requested work items (furnace clean, tune-up, and inspection). He was friendly and professional. We had a little snafu with the service time changing at the last minute, but the company called to let me know what happened and we were able to reschedule on short notice. I purchased an Angie's List deal for this work and feel I got more than what I paid for. Very happy with this company and this deal. We would use this company again.
"Very well. He was delayed by other jobs, but the office was very good at letting us know. He worked efficiently and also replaced a filter heat pump that was not in the "Big Deal" plan.
Have used these guys for multiple properties over the last couple of
years. Initially put in central a/c for me and did an OK job--they were
prompt and clean, which was enough to get me to use them again. I
noticed a year later that I developed a roof leak--the flashing around
one of the penetrations flexed and broke. At another properties I had a
freon leak. First tech came out and said the most likely explanation
was that my tenants were huffing the freon. He refilled and it was gone
again in a week. I came out with the second tech, and saw an obvious
leak (oil everywhere) in the condenser where some tubing had rubbed and
developed a hole. Called them once to fix a boiler. They fixed it, but
charged me for 5 fuses at $30/per. Last straw--my 2.5 year old central
a/c unit leaked. They charged me $350 to diagnose a leaking coil.
Quoted $575 (or thereabouts) to repair. When they arrived, the quote
turned into $1250. Tried to contact someone about that for about 2
months. Never got a return phone call. Finally talked to someone there
and was told that I was "misquoted" initially. He offered to do it for
$1150. No thanks. My fault for sticking with them for so long, but at
least I had the
