Fireplace Installation And Maintenance reviews in Richmond

After we wrote a less than favorable review on Angie's List, the next time we needed service, they informed us that they blacklist clients who write negative reviews and would not deal with us any longer. The gas fireplace was a problem for years. After not being able to have it serviced by
Richmond Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
, we finally found someone else to service the unit and it worked beautifully.

should work to

over dissatisfied clients and not blacklist them. Our fireplace did not work for two years, but another dealer has opened in the area and serviced it yesterday. We will finally be able to use our fireplace this winter.

The chimney sweep was well done, and did not leave a mess in the living room. The two inspectors provided a detailed assessment of the condition of the chimney with pictures they had taken during the inspection.

The visit from
Richmond Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
was great. He showed up on time and was very clear when speaking to me about our chimney.
We had wanted him to come inspect our chimney before using it for the first time (we recently bought the house). He looked at the outside of the chimney (did not go up on the roof, but looked from the ground) and looked up into the chimney from inside our house.
He explained future work that we should consider doing very clearly and even showed me an example of what he was talking about by pointing at my neighbors house.
He walked me through how to open and close the flu and let me know that some customers have trouble with this type, but reassured me that if I needed help, just to give them a call.
At the end of his visit he wrote a detailed report of the visit and his recommendation for future work.
The only negative...For the work that was done, I feel like $80 was a little high considering all he really did was look at our roof and look up the chimney, but having the peace of mind is worth it to us.

Arrived on time, detail-oriented and kept the work-area clean. Didn't know how to fix the low voltage switch that turns the gas logs on....thought cleaning it would suffice; It didn't. Overall, he did an acceptable job and had everything been working properly with the fireplace I'd probably rate this provider a bit higher, but his inabililty to diagnose/fix our switch problem lowered the grade.

I called to get the chimney cleaning & inspection offer found on Angie's list for a rental property I have; they answered right away and came that day. They called me back to say that the chimney cap / Lental? was deteriorated and would be a $350 repair, but they would take off what was spent on the inspection. They offered to do the work right away while they were there. In retrospect, I definately should have gotten at least 1 or 2 other quotes for the work, because it did seem a bit over priced for the small repair that was done. They also forgot to tell the tenant that they shouldn't use the fireplace for 24 hours so that the repairs could dry. That caused issues. Other than that, I was happy just to get the work taken care of quickly, and without too many scheduling issues.

I contacted the company, they sent someone out to do the repair work, he was incredible, diligent, friendly, professional and did what he said he was going to do in an extremely timely manner. I was very impressed with this company overall.

They were hired to do a video inspection by the couple purchasing my condo. The results were that the

tiles were severely damaged, and the estimate to fix it was $7,000. I've only ever had a handful of fires, and I couldn't imagine they could have caused that amount of damage, so we got second opinions. Two other licensed and certified firms and a County Building inspector all cleared the fireplace as safe and undamaged. From our Level II inspection report: "(The Firm) could not see any major gaps or cracks and no evidence of a damaged flue from a fire. This flue is clean." I don't know what
Richmond Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
charged the buyers for the inspection, but I ended up paying $215 for the other inspections to disprove the initial report. I feel like they were hoping that, as someone who's trying to sell in a bad
Richmond Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
, I'd be desperate and would pay anything to get the deal done. I guess I should feel lucky--if it had been a reasonable estimate, I might have just hired them to do the (non-existent) work.

Update: I had originally rated them as an F, but I really appreciate
Richmond Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
's response. Second opinions are a must for any project, and I can respect his estimate of the scope of work based on his belief that the tiles were faulty.

Showed up on time, had a large canvas mat to keep my house clean, listened to my complaint about draft and inserted insulation in the gap between the liner and the old chimney (no extra charge). Employee was courteous and seemed knowledgeable. Identified some parts that need replacing, took apart entire unit, cleaned and reassembled. He added some kind of glow rock near the bottom which, in combination with everything else being cleaned, looks really good. I'm pleasantly surprised by home much i like the fireplace now.
