Door Installation reviews in Richmond

Awesome! Estimate was 15 minutes early. Installers were early too. The job was finished on time as promised with no issues.

really helped me understand exactly what I was getting and even worked with me on my budget. Truly, it's rare to find a company like this anymore! Thank you.

Originally a team of two came to assess the work, give estimates and suggestions. We liked both the father and the daughter. They understood our goals and helped determine what to do. The estimate came in much lower than another company partly due to the method used. The customer supplies items like shower fixtures, grab bars, bifold doors, etc. and pays for them separately. The designer helps with appointments and introductions to vendors. The contractor is paid for labor and construction materials. We liked the personal way
Richmond Door Installers Provider Name Locked
does business. I was able to reach key people when I needed them for questions and changes. Due to a snowy January the work was held up some, but we were very pleased with the progress. The foreman was excellent in understanding what was needed, anticipating problem areas and recommending solutions, and efficiently handling the work. He and the crew were also very courteous and considerate. Though the work was very dusty, areas were taped off and sealed. We were extremely pleased with the environmental aspect of the project. From estimating, to design assistance, to foreman, to workers, we were extremely pleased with courtesy, professionalism, and quality work within a reasonable price. I would highly recommend

for any remodeling job. It is an excellent company with high standards and caring professionals.

is punctional, maintained good clear consistent communication and made certain we were 100% on the same level of understanding as to the work being performed. He made recommendations and suggestions but was not over bearing and respected what I was attempting to achieve.
I have a Bungalow, built in 1917, and wanted to preserve the original windows but replace lower grade windows that had been added back in the 1970's.
He and his associate replaced the 7 single paned windows (added in 1970's), in the addition off my kitchen, with double paned higher quality windows. Then scrapped, painted, caulked, created venilation and cleaned all the orginial windows (12 windows). Two windows were painted shut and needed new hardware to be functionable. He replaced the back storm door with a security door including the hardware, in the style and color of my choice. They repaired my front door lock that was not working properly and replaced the hardware on my front storm door. I had an attic window, double window, small 4 pane windows, that needed repair and a lot of attention. They replaced a broken pane and restored the windows to their original condition. He also repaired my old antique pocket doors. A dog had chewed the bottom in several places.
If you want your original windows/doors restored or replaced, I would recommend

Excellent workers. Explained in depth what they were going to do and what materials were going to be used. Very good workers and timely work.

I chose
Richmond Door Installers Provider Name Locked
from Angies list because of the positive reviews he's received, I got estimates from three different people, but I was impressed by
Richmond Door Installers Provider Name Locked
when he came to the house, so I went with him.
Richmond Door Installers Provider Name Locked
was very professional and orderly, he gave me a clear timetable for the work, and he kept to it, showing up when he said he would, and completing work in a timely fashion, even when things didn't go well.
It was very easy to communicate with

, and he was excellent at keeping me informed about how work was progressing. I was immediately impressed by the quality of

's work, and found myself asking him to do more than I had originally expected, in some cases repairing, or replacing work other contractors had done unsatisfactorily.
I couldn't be more pleased with the work

did in my home, and I feel fortunate to have found him here. He was always on time, his crew was polite and clean, and respectful of my home.
I can honestly say that he did what he said he would, and I'm very satisfied.

Overall, the job went very well.

and crew were careful and responsive to requests. As is true for any job in an old house, they encountered some unexpected challenges (unlevel joists, etc.), and proved to be flexible in dealing with the problems.

The installation went well overall. The only small hang up was having to rent an electric

for the handyman to cut the door down to fit. This was a bit unexpected, but after talking to him I understand.

On the evening of 9/19 I received a call that a medical issue came up and asked for me to reschedule to Sunday at 10am.
At 9:35 on Sunday the gentleman showed up. I started showing him the specifics.
1) The french door. We could fix that if he had a paddle bit in his truck and if I would go and get a cover for the hole he drilled in the floor. I offered my drill and standard bit so he could drill a smaller hole and fixed that.
2) He looked at the deck and agreed with me that it needed fixing. He wanted to reschedule for another time and wanted me to go to Home Depot or Lowes to pick up the supplies for an extra $10. He also suggested that I pick up a Deck Sealer that he recommended and that I should pick that up because I had to decide a color (that I agreed wtih).
3) He looked at where I wanted the railing and seemed surprised that I wanted it to mount to the concrete in place...he, of course didn't have the tools to do that either. I also did not have a high degree of confidence that he knew how to do that task.
He left with a promise to get back with me later that day after talking to the owner and to schedule the job that was suppose to be done that afternoon for either Monday or Tuesday and also he wanted another person to come out there (so now $80/hr) with him with the promise that it would take half the time. As he heads out the door I ask about what we are doing about the railing. He tells me to just measure the distance and buy piping but they can't cut it.
I go to Lowes. They do not have the deck sealant. So I call him. At that time he says that I need to go to Home Depot...even though I told him earlier I'm going to Lowes. He also told me he talked to the boss and they "might" be able to get back to me later this week. With the complete lack of professionalism so far I doubted it so asked for him to have the owner call me back. So far I have not heard back.
Bottom line, I call professionals when I do want to deal with a project or do not have the tools or expertise myself. I do not expect to have to supply tools, run around town getting supplies, and having to measure and figure out what's needed myself. I also expect that when I give someone a list of what needs doing and they say they are coming to do it, that they are prepared to either do the task or get the materials and then do the tasks. I thought that was what I was buying.

Update: In response to doing no work for me, that is correct even though I wish they were prepared to work the four hours they scheduled. I have not received any contact from this provider since my original review.

was at the house giving us a verbal estimate within a couple days of calling his office.Once he had a firm estimate written in his office that day - which was very close to verbal estimate, we accepted and he was able to get our work started the following week. His crew was very courteous and the work was done quickly and neatly.
