"Overall experience was good. I felt in retrospect that they bid very low with extremely low allowances resulting in numerous change orders. Final price tag was more than 20% increase in budgeted amount for job."

was very friendly and seemed to understand all that I asked him to do. (He was recommended by a family member.) However, I think he must have lost his notes. The tile I asked to have installed on the walls of one bathroom were installed on the floor, instead, and had to be redone. The marble on both bathroom floors was scratched and marred with spots from chemicals, which he said he could not see. The tile man came back and used sandpaper on the marble floors to "fix" the scratches, which made it worse. The painters, he said, worked at his own home often, and he said he highly recommended them. I told him that there was oil paint in my house and asked how they would prep. He assured me the painters were professional and knew what to do. When we got back from a trip after they had finished painting, I could see that there was dirt in the paint on the walls and trim, and that they had used latex paint on the oil paint, which I could remove easily with a fingernail. (The paint in my whole house that was done by this company is now peeling off.) The hardwood floors were scheduled to be done after the painting, and so the stain is all over the baseboards. Many little things were completed shoddily. For example, a cabinet in the bathroom was installed, must not have fit, and reinstalled. The holes from the first installation were/are visible, but not repaired/filled. Hardware installed on an expensive bathroom cabinet split the wood. He had to replace some doors in the bathroom that were painted so poorly. Mr. said he bought new doors, but they were so scratched and dented they looked like they had been purchased from a restore. I do not recommend this company because of the poor quality of workmanship. The long term consequences of living with the disappointment are not worth hiring them.

"We spoke with (SEB), as well as 3 other builders, when seeking a contractor for our 3-phase renovation project. Although we secured pricing on the overall project as well as phase 1, we were clear that we were only progressing with Phase 1 at the time. (we wanted to assess capabilities and timing before locking in on the overall, complex project). Our priority was to find a contractor who was honest, experienced/skilled, dependable, and willing to be flexible with us in terms of timing so that we could complete the portions of the job that we were taking on. I found SEB to be that and much more. The bottomline is that we were so impressed with both and and the work that SEB did in phase 1, that we have already hired them to complete phases 2 & 3.
From the first discussions, was straightforward about schedules and provided specifics about the work he would do personally vs subbing out. He shared details about the skills and history of his subs. He provided very detailed pricing information as well as a detailed description of the work that would be completed in each stage of the project, and the materials that would be needed at each stage (he even itemized the quantity of each type of lumber!). I had time to review this information in detail so we could discuss any questions and ensure we were both clear on expectations and deliverables. The entire contracting process was completely transparent so I knew exactly what I would be getting and the price was very fair.
We took the time to visit a home being built by SEB and were very impressed with the quality of the construction as well as the craftsmanship in the finish details (wood trim, tile work, t&g ceiling, material selection, etc). We also learned that was a graduate of ECU in the Construction Management program and had years of experience in working with a large local firm before venturing out on his own. We booked SEB to do the first phase of our project.
During the following 6 weeks, we were impressed with workmanship, attention to detail, and punctuality of the SEB crews. Each person working at our home was considerate as well as skilled. The crews were thorough in cleaning up afterward (which was impt as we were living in the house during the construction!). Once they broke thru the existing walls, they carefully installed temporary walls, complete with insulation, full plastic wrap over the insulation, and taped all the exposed seams so we didn't feel the cold nor waste heat during January.
warned us that there would be some risk of breaking the existing tile as well as ceiling ( & grove cedar) when they cut thru to make the new openings. meticulously cut thru those areas and did not have one bit of breakage! (important to us as we didn?t have any extra tiles or ceiling boards to replace any broken ones!)
Both and are creative & highly experienced. Although we had a pretty solid design, they both were able to offer suggestions that enhanced our plan and in some cases, saved us $$. Despite unexpected pipes in a wall and appliance specs that weren?t quite accurate, they were able to guide us thru solutions that allowed us to keep our overall plan intact.
But the real statement about the level of customer service and conscientiousness of SEB is this part of the story: The day the french door from leading from our breakfast room to the back porch was installed and the temporary walls were removed, my husband was out of town. There was no hardware in the door but I wasn?t too worried. About 8pm that night, I got a knock on the door; it was . He remembered that I had mentioned my husband was travelling (I must have mentioned it in passing...I ?t even remember telling him!) and he realized that I would be alone without locks on that door. He came with 2x10, drill and heavy screws and proceeded to board up the door so I would be safe that night.
We are so pleased to have found ! SEB is exactly what you want from a construction company and so rarely get: high quality at a fair price; dependability to complete the job as agreed; ongoing communication and responsiveness throughout the process. We have started phase 2 and are experiencing the same quality and service levels as we received in phase 1. We are confident SEB will help us achieve the vision for our "new" home."

"I was very pleased with all the family members who helped me at - in choosing my granite, and my profile, and the way they price. They charge one price and there are no "extras" to worry about - the price includes the granite - you pick out the exact piece if they have a remnant or slab you can use there - - the edging, the sink cut-outs and sink installation, the fabrication, the templating and the installation. Their website has many pictures of completed kitchen and bath countertops, so you get a good idea of their work. I am aware that you can have a piece of granite brought from another granite yard to them and they can fabricate this as well. There were two minor problems with installation of the long countertop, which my remodeler noticed as he is a perfectionist, and they came out the next day and corrected these to our satisfaction. I am very happy with the process and the results. Although the piece they used for the long countertop was a remnant, it and the top of the kneewall both came out gorgeous in appearance and finish."

"The estimator was on time. I feel the price was fair. The installers showed up on time. Re-did my roof in a day & half just as promised. They lift the yard clean...no nails or debris was lift behind. They have performed different types work for my neighbors & everyone has always been pleased."

"Our bathtub had been refinished years ago and the finish was cracking. We made an appointment for an estimate to have the tub/shower lined. The consultant came on schedule, showed us our options, and we signed up for the service. The date we scheduled the work, the fitters were on time and worked efficiently. We're very pleased with the new tub/shower setup. It's a breeze to clean and much safer than the original tub."

" did all the work except the shower glass himself. He had estimated the job would take 3 weeks and it did. He was always professional and personable. When he was working in our bathroom he was as unobtrusive as possible and did not disrupt our daily routines. He cleaned up each day and carted trash off daily. He always greeted our pets and was careful not to let them out. His contract was clear and detailed.

"Finding was truly a blessing. I had wanted to remodel my kitchen for 5 years, and I wanted Ikea cabinets but the entire process was very intimidating. From the moment I met her, began to set my mind at ease. I knew I was in good hands. She was very patient with my indecision and extremely responsive to my emails and questions. Her expertise was invaluable in making an array of tiny decisions about the kitchen I had not thought of and in communicating with various contractors. She created a very tight 2 week timeline -- from demo to counters -- and she managed to get everyone on board despite VERY short notice. When Ikea sent a few wrong parts, handled the exchange so I didn't have to worry about a thing.
I'm very pleased with the work that and did. Their focus on environmentally friendly products was a huge plus. The quality of the work is fantastic and the remodel was easier than I ever dreamed.
