It went WELL!
is not only a master craftsman, and very honest, but also has excellent people skills that many contractors lack. He helped us plan the whole addition with a 3d model he hand-cut, and then allowed us to modify as we went. He always gave us options with each new major decision, and pros and cons for each.

- Phil C.

Work started around September 2013. Prior to work starting we made it clear that our only deadline was having the downstairs full bath complete prior to elderly grandmother coming to visit early October. We were told prior to starting that this was doable. The original estimate was that it would take around 4 months for both baths. Initial demolition went fine, workers were always polite and cleaned up relatively well after themselves. Work then stalled, and we were told this was the busiest season in a long time and it was hard to get subcontractors. However, considering that this is a long established contractor, we were not impressed that this contractor had not lined up his workers long in advance. The downstairs bath still didn't have a shower in place when grandma arrived despite our urgent queries, and this contractor told us he had mixed up the date; the shower still didn't go in until the day before grandma left. The contractor was helpful in picking out color schemes and specific materials for the quirks of our older home. In general the quality of the work completed was very good, particularly the custom cabinets. As the work proceeded, we found that our initially very responsive contractor would take a few days to respond to emails with questions, and when he did he would respond to maybe one or two of our very specifically numbered and listed questions. Poor communication with us and with subcontractors was our biggest issue. We found ourselves having to catch timing errors (ie, paint the walls before installing cabinets) and communication errors between workers (they almost installed the tile floor without putting in the floor heater first - it was only caught because I happened to be home when the tile guys came by to start). The last straw that made this whole experience most frustrating was that the granite counter in one bath was installed with a visible and palpable crack right in front of one of the sinks. We had the same granite on a separate furniture piece in the room, so any replacement would need to come from a matching piece of granite - we were told by this contractor that the whole slab of granite had issues with cracks and it couldn't be guaranteed that a replacement piece wouldn't have more cracks, so the crack has been polished down but is still very visible. Disappointing to spend a lot of money (it was not a cheap slab of granite) on something that is new but already has flaws. In the end the work took almost twice as long as estimated, about 8 months. There was no apology or credit for the extra time this took and the broken piece of granite. In future work with contractors we will be sure to have a lot more details spelled out and signed by both parties prior to beginning work.

Working with Bill is hands down the best experience I've had working with any contractor in my new home.

Design: First he came in and actually measured out and brainstormed design ideas for the new layout. Many people seem to want you to bring measurements into their shop so they can build a design without coming on site. You should demand they come to your home first. Doing this, Bill was the only person who recognized the opportunity to expand the kitchen into what had been a separate eat-in area and make the whole room flow together. Great design, I'm so glad we chose him for this.
Profesional, Knowledgeable and Responsive: Next, I have to say that Bill's professionalism and kindness really stood out. He always took my calls day or night, and would chat with me as long as needed to make sure I was 100% comfortable with where the project stood and any decisions he was making. He'd walk me through in detail exactly how he planned to do the work and explain what short cuts other people sometimes take and why he wouldn't do it. He was clearly very knowledgeable. Plus, he saved me several hundred dollars - I would have probably had him apply floor leveler, but he convinced me it wasn't necessary. I really appreciated the honesty instead trying to upsell me. There were other smaller examples of this as well. Bill was also very good about cleaning up the workspace at the end of the day - we didn't move into the house until near the end of the project, but even then, we have a toddler, and (without asking) he took appropriate steps to make sure the room was safe and clean when he left. I trust that if we'd been there the whole time, Bill would have worked with us to minimize the inconveniences - he actually teaches seminars on that topic.
Attention to detail: You can tell Bill is someone who absolutely has to do things the rights way, for him, not just for the customer. There were times during the project when something didn't come out quite the way he wanted. When even I was willing to take a shortcut to make it work he consistently said absolutely not and went back and redid the work (without upcharging me a dime). His attention to detail also came out in the tiniest ways - like how he selected the prettiest peice of trim to go over oven centered on that wall. He's always thinking about how to give you the best outcome.
Bill's Peanutbutter Pie: Work it into the contract -its good.
Work done: The work we had bill perform was a total kitchen remodel - Everything was torn out including drywall in places and everything (the

, sink, fridge, window, I mean everything was rearranged. Iinstalled solid plywood cabinets, built in seating with storage and a kitchen desk. Installed uplighting and downlighting, a vinyl floor, painted the room, installed the trim - everything you can think of except for the countertops. Total cost of approx 21k was split roughtly 50/50 between cost of the cabinets and everything else (material and labor combined).

It was a very easy process from the initial meeting with the salesman all the way to the completion of the work. The salesman was very knowledgeable and informative, they scheduled the work the very next week. The installer was right on time and worked extremely hard, he met with the inspector and explained all the new features to the new tub and shower. I was amazed when I walked into the bathroom and saw the tub for the first time it really made the whole room look better. It was an all around easy and pleasant experience.

We had a very positive experience with

, and their crew of very able installers/grouters. We brought tile samples home from the store and decided what we liked. On returning the tiles, we gave

approximate square footages and she sent us an estimate. Then

came out and re-measured for accuracy, described how the tile should be aligned with cabinets, recommended we use an edging around the backsplashes to give them an even finish. His final estimate was just slightly higher than the first due to our going with the edging. The tile was subsequently ordered and, within less than two weeks, it arrived.

called to arrange for two installers to come the very next day; we were thrilled!

worked as a great "tag team" and were very courteous, friendly, and meticulous in their attention to detail. My husband had actually contemplated installing the backsplashes himself; after watching the pros at work, we had a good laugh about that (very bad) idea! This was all on a Friday and, the following Monday,

came out and did all the grouting. He was also extremely polite and professional and clearly takes great pride in his work plus he thoroughly cleaned up as he went along. We had only one small glitch and that had to do with a problem we had installing some new switch and outlet plates over the backsplash in the kitchen. We had ordered new ones because they old ones didn't do justice to the beautiful backsplash. When my husband and I put them up, we discovered that one would not screw all the way in; we thought it was a function of the screws hitting the tile or grouting. I called

and she made sure

came back out right away to see what the problem was. Turned out that the screws we were using for this plate were too long.

drilled them down and secured the plate completely into the wall. Now we have these gorgeous backsplashes; the one in the kitchen really brightens the space and I know adds value to our home. I would definitely recommend

was very professional and responsive. He listened to what we wanted and how much we wanted to spend, and he put together a very thorough proposal. It was not the lowest quote we received, but it was the best value considering the high level of service and quality workmanship

They were punctual, responsive, and the work is high quality. Although the job lasted somewhat longer than estimated, we did not care as the result is excellent.

Very pleased for the first couple years. The cabinets looked excellent. However, the covering they put over our cabinets is constantly peeling now and we have to glue it back down. This has been going on for about 3 years now. We were told it was a permanent solution. For the price we paid, this should not have happened. If you chose to do this, please know that is will look good for a while, but I wish we had just had new cabinets made.

We had the kitchen remodeled in its entirety from floor to ceiling. We signed the contract in December and construction/demolition began in February. We choose the Lord

Premium package, which includes new appliances, granite counter tops and backsplash, and replacement hardwood flooring.
Their website lists the address above as their corporate office, but our documents list Alamance, NC 27201 [Phone:(800) 249-190] as their office or branch office. To my knowledge these are one and the same company.
-They advertised a much lower price comparable to other competitors
-They had a large selection of design options to choose from
- Flexibility in appliance choices
- We cashed in the cost of the appliances in exchange for better ones with no problems.
- The majority of the workers did a good job
- One of the workers gave good advice regarding a cabinet that would have prevented our refrigerator from opening all the way.

- Scheduling is unreliable, inaccurate and time frame projected to us was is very misleading
- On average they worked a maximum of one (1) day/week or five (5) hrs/week
- We were initially told that the project would take 4-6 weeks, which was later changed to 6-8 weeks and has now been ongoing for 3 months.
- No work has been done in the past 2 weeks. Management claims that there is a back order on supplies despite the fact that the contract was signed in December, with an upfront payment of $10,000.
- There was never any notice of cancellations or schedule changes. The project manager,
Raleigh Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
, occasionally told us a day ahead that workers would arrive at 8am only to have them arrive around 11am or not at all. When my husband called management they would say that the workers were off that day or that the weather outlook was bad and so they told them not to come, however, they never bothered to inform us of any schedule changes. This type of lack of professionalism was consistent throughout the entire project.
- They have yet to give us a completion date despite being long overdue the date initially discussed.
- Damaged materials (eventually repaired)
- We requested that they properly protect the hardwood floors or install them after the ceiling had been completed to prevent any damage or stains. They insured us that this would not be a problem, and sure enough they failed to adequately protect the floors which of course retained indentations from heavy machinery. Their solution was to refinish our new floors. They hired

hardwood flooring to do the job. They were much better with scheduling, but the quality did not reflect what we paid for.
- Overall lack of communication

Overall our kitchen looks nice so far, but I have been unable to reorganize the kitchen because the project is not complete. Will check back eventually when and if they ever finish. As of now, we do not know where the project stands and our dishes and cookware are still in boxes in the other room. I will update this review when the project is completed.
