Raleigh HVAC Contractors Reviews

"The work seemed fine. Had to be done on an emergency basis and it was done promptly. I felt that I could have gotten a better deal if I shopped around - but emergencies can't really be planned.
"Met and discussed what I wanted and the price. Set up the time. Arrived on time to do the work.
All necessary paperwork was left. The company called in 3 days to see if I had any problems to be addressed.

"Everyone with

was friendly and helpful. They guided us through the entire process from selecting the unit which would best suit our needs to setting up the inspection with all the documents necessary for the city. They know what they are doing and nothing was left to

After the inspection we have received several follow up calls to ask how the unit is working out for us. To ask if we have any questions and to let us know they are happy to help with any concerns and questions.
We could not be happier!

"I cannot remember the exact price but we utilized a coupon via Angie's List to have them complete an inspection of our heating system. The inspector was very detailed and spent several hours completing the service, did minor tune-ups to the system, and outlined some potential recommendations. We are in the process of contracting with this company for a yearly service plan due to our positive experience with them.
"Very professional and knowledgeable. Didn't pressure, gave fair price, and worked with my brand preference.
"I called upon reciept of the postcard and scheduled my apt and they were scheduled to come out. They called at 11:30 to say the guy might not make it out but he would try . I rushed home from work leaving early and thus losing out on the pay I would have gotten had I finished out the day to find that the plumber is not able to make it an emergency came up. I rescheduled for the following thursday at the same time. This time I called before I left work and they had made no contact to reach me as they did prior and the

on the other end said that he was running late and he would be to my house in an hour. I left with plenty of time to be home and no plumber, I called the mr.Plumber again and the plumber called to say it wasnt an emergency I am only the emergency person the other plumber will call you and no phone call was received that night or the following day . The

did call and said I understand no plumber came to your house last night if you would like to reschedule you can do that but I don't think I would either. so unless you are desperate or an emergency is the message I am taking away from this don't use them even though they contacted me they don't want my business or prob yours either.
"Decent experience. Still not sure if the 1.4 lbs of R-22 was totally necessary, as it seemed like a way to offset the "deal" on the diagnostics. They charged $100 / lb of R-22, rounding up for any portion, which is absurd. The diagnostic was very cursory. The root issue turned out to be a sticking reversing valve which they did not diagnose. The service guy was experienced and professional. I would use them for very basic maintenance or service. Not impressed by the suspicious need for the refrigerant.
"Serviceman was very young (probably less than 25). He seemed to know how to conduct his tests but on hindsight I am not sure he really listened to my description of the problem (The furnace did not act up while he was there.). He did his best to analyze the problem but tried to solve the problem based on how the unit was behaving instead on how it had been misbehaving.
He indicated the unit was burning too hot and diagnosed that there was insufficient air flow. He tested a capacitor and determined that it was operating at diminished capacity. I agreed to pay $128 for a new capacitor. I have no idea whether that was a fair price or not but it did not seem that unreasonable. He also indicated the next step would be to replace the blower unit, a $525 item.
I paid $29 for the service call through Angie's List which I would consider a good deal if the problem had been solved. The unit did seem to run better with the new capacitor but started acting up again after the serviceman had left. The problem had not been corrected. My unit is a natural gas forced air unit and is at least 16 years old. I would replace the whole unit before I would spend an additional $525 on the blower motor.
A friend of mine, who is a handyman/contractor by trade, called and asked if I got my furnace fixed. I told him what transpired and he said the diagnosis didn't sound right. He wanted to come by and take a look. I agreed. It had not occurred to me that he might be able to fix it. He looked at it and after running a few tests determined that a $5 part (something like a thermocouple) needed to be replaced. The unit has been working fine since he replaced that part. Full disclosure - I gave $100 for his time.
I did not grade them with a D or F because I did not feel cheated but rather felt there was insufficient attention paid to my description of the problem and perhaps there was a lack of experience by the serviceman. He too quickly ruled out part of the unit and focused on the blower and air flow when that wasn't the main problem. A more experienced serviceman might have considered other alternatives.
I am not mechanically inclined. How DOES one determine whether he is getting good service? This company has an "A" rating and generally favorable reviews. Perhaps asking around family, friends, and neighbors is a better alternative to Angie’s List. I will call my friend the next time my furnace acts up. I haven't decided whether I would use this company as a second choice.
"At first they were great. The salesman was professional and courteous. they were a little higher than the other companies, but we liked him and went with them. The technicians who installed the system were awesome too. However, once everything was installed that was the end of it. You can no longer get responses from them. I've been trying to get a copy of my contract and my rebate forms (which they were supposed to provide) for 4 months now. Also, the furnace stopped working after about a week. I guess it was installed incorrectly. They responded fairly quick to the call though. Once you sign the contract good luck ever hearing from the project manager again."
"Found problem and gave me a price for repair. Due to the year of my furnace, I plan to purchase new furnace in the next month or two.
