"This was a great experience. They gave me an estimate and references. They showed up on time for the estimate. They were great about explaining details of the job, and offering input if something seemed like it might not be the best idea. "

" Teander came to my house a half hour late. He said he didn't have my phone number, so he couldn't call me. I did not appreciate this. He took a look at the sight and did his measurement. The site is a bit tricky because I wanted to change the placement of the stairs, and we had to take into account a slope that would be across the stairs. There were also some sightlines in the house I wanted to preserve.
I knew going into this, it would take some creative design, as I had already been trying to sketch something out on and off for a year. To his credit, he stayed for an hour and a half, working with me to try and create something that would satisfy my criteria. I appreciated his taking this significant amount of time with me.
At the end of the consultation, I asked for estimates of what the demolition would cost, and what construction would cost in both Trex and in wood. He said he would get an estimate to me in a week to two, which I understood it may be on the later side because of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
I never heard from him again. Not a phone call or an email (he had both). Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I don't think I should have to nag a contractor to get an estimate. It does not signal a great future working relationship to hit this kind of snag for just an estimate, especially in light of his tardiness for the appointment. In this economy, I would think someone would appreciate the possibility of work. does not need mine."

" , owner and general contractor of , responded to our request for a bid right away and prepared estimates which he submitted in writing within a day or so. He was very professional and his estimates were very reasonable. I needed the work completed in less than 3 weeks because of a bridal shower at our home. He listened carefully to our concerns, gave us options and explained how the work would be done, told us where any decision points would be and was clear and concise in describing how his guys would proceed. He continued to do this throughout the duration of the work. The flooring was a big concern because we had 10 year old engineered floors that would have to be sanded down carefully to the little remaining wood. His subcontractor came to sand and explained what he would be doing and allowed us to watch and approve as the flooring underneath was revealed. He did a superb job and we are very pleased with the results--better than expected! The house painters were extremely professional, efficient and did a great job. No spills, no trash, no signs that they were there. The deck builders worked hard and in record time, we had a gorgeous new deck, stained to our specifications. Also very clean at the end of each day. checked in frequently with both his contractors and us, and they worked around our schedule--and the rain--with flexibility and professionalism. Skylight and roof repair was a huge concern of ours. we had paid almost 10K in a number of repair attempts that had each failed over time. This was the first time it really worked; and so far, at least, seemed to have the solution! We are now starting a Phase II of remodeling work, which will include an outdoor kitchen, water feature, stonework and outdoor fireplace. We have the utmost confidence in the outcome as a result of our experience to date. is very professional and stays on top of things to make sure they are done properly. My husband and I would highly recommend to anyone for any kind of construction work, because if he can't do it, will tell you! Pefect Spaces does very high quality work for fair pricing, has friendly and efficient workers, good supervisiion and a lot of creativity. We are grateful to have found such a firm, as our 1988 modernist home will need more renovations over the next couple of years."

"Fairway was about 45 minutes to 1 hour late which was attributed to running behind on previous job.
Even though they were running behind, they kept me apprised of their status and anticipated eta. There was no guessing as to when they would arrive. I appreciated that very much.
They used 4-5 crew members and everyone was very professional.
Fairway took about 1.0 to 1.5 hrs to complete the job. Pressure washer was mounted on their truck. All they needed was a water connection to an exterior hose bib.
The house and the back patio looked markedly better. Very nice job.
I've used them before several years ago for window cleaning and they did a marvelous job on the windows.
I'd recommend them to anyone and would use them again without hestitation."

"Bill 's estimate was slightly higher than another I got but I decided to go with him after reading the favorable reviews on Angie's List and also, after meeting him in person. He has an engineering background and it is apparent that he is intelligent, educated and conscientious. I also liked his estimate which took 3 days to receive- it was very detailed and he had an exact plan mapped out.
He ran into a few problems such as heavy tree roots while digging the holes for the screen but did not become frustrated and persevered, doing a quality job. He had an assistant most of the time, , who was also nice but Bill was always there working closely with and doing an equal amount of manual labor while directing the project.
His measurements and construction techniques were very precise and well thought out. I also thought he had a good eye and flair for design.
He says he will also do interior handyman type jobs so I intend to call him for small projects/repairs in the future.
You could leave him alone in your house and feel comfortable and confident."

"Bad, Frustrating, Aggravating, Expensive!
I scheduled the job during the summer of 2007, the salesman was excellent, promised me the world!
The job was supposed to be completed by the first of November and was supposed to take one week to complete.
They kept saying they were waiting for permits, etc. They hadn't even applied because they sent a surveyor out in mid November. (As an Oh by the way, my property taxes have almost doubled as a result of the survey, permits and new appraisal triggered by my sunroom).
After much proding they finally started in mid November (they finished the end of January). First they chainsawed my relatively new deck to set footings. I didn't have a problem with the chain saw, I had a problem with tearing out more deck then necessary, which ended up in additional expense down the road.
Then I waited. Finally they came to install and the room was not what I had ordered but it was too late to change because it was virtually constructed before I could tell it wasn't right. The process went on for ever.
They finally more or less completed it at the end of January (three months after what they had promised). If I had known about the time issues I wouldn't have done it at all because I needed the room to be completed before the cold weather set in. Then I still had to have the deck rebuilt by someone else.
In addition, I was assured that the glass was "special" and that temperature control was not a big issue because of the special glass. I see as much as a 30 or 40 degree temperature variation in one day. I have to use an auxillary heater/air conditioner (which they sold me). This unit is supposed to be thermostatically controlled. That doesn't work either, it's either on or off.
The product looks a lot better in the showroom or on paper then it is in real life. And the sales pitch has nothing to do with what you get!
I have not reported on this until now because they had assured me that they would correct some of these issues. Almost 2.5 years later, I don't think that's going to happen.

" When we moved to we bought the house we did with the idea of adding some significant improvements to fit our special likes. After checking out a few different contractors, large and small, we took the advice of a Realtors who praised the work of .
My wife and I cannot say enough good things about and the extraordinary quality of his work. This man takes great pride in his work and it shows in everything he does. In 45 years of marriage living in several different homes we have never encountered anyone in whom we have more confidence and for whom we have higher regard than . Not only is he so good at his work, he is a nice person to work with. I had a couple of not so great ideas that he talked me out of and he does not hesitate to suggest solutions you might never think of on your own.
The best indication of how pleased we are about having selected is that after we had done all that we had expected to do but then months later decided on another project we did not bother to inquiry of anyother but .
Neighbors and friends who have seen the work he has done at our home are lavish in their praise.
I should add that we have also turned to for a couple of small projects and he performs them with the same skill and pride of workmanship.
People who took our recommendation to choose for projects they needed done thank us profusely for making them aware of him.
The bottom line is that you cannot find better quality and better value for your home remodeling dollar."
