"I spent over $1100. It was a fair price. I had a lot of work done in my house. In the process, my front steps were damaged and needed them to be completely redone. Despite having a tough time with the weather, he was always on time and he worked really hard. He stayed all day long to do the job. He was excellent. He had a great personality. He was interacting with my neighbors. The job got done on time. It was much faster than I anticipated. I would use him again in the future. "

because he was the most knowledgeable, personable and happened to be the least expensive. He works by himself and has been doing masonry for over 20 years. He specializes in chimneys. Revitalizing masonry and brick in a historic home

While searching for new homes, Brad Begle and his wife, Mary, instantly fell in love with the interior of a newly remodeled Victorian-era home in Lincoln Park. However, years of faulty repairs on the outside of the red-brick 1880s home had left the exterior in poor shape.

Stonemason adds poetry to walkway and fire pit

"We settled upon a colorful mix of Pennsylvania sandstone, accentuated with bands of reclaimed antique granite street cobbles." (Photo courtesy of Matt L. of Portland, Ore.)

The Portland family wanted to add some unique outdoor elements to their new home. So they hired Matt Goddard of Poetry in Stone to install a path and a backyard seating area with a sunken fire pit.

is a nice old fellow (whose English is just barely good enough to get by) who we found after much calling around. I think he's about 65 and has been doing masonry all his life--the quality shows! The project was to remove the old and rotting front steps and replace them with brick ones. In addition to demolition, this job also included some heavy-duty concrete

-hammering, waste removal, concrete pouring, and bricklaying. The job was completed on time and the finished steps look great. He paid careful attention to detail. While we did manage to haggle on the initial cost up front, it turned out that a few extra issues arose during construction, so the final cost was pretty much what he estimated (and we tipped him a little extra for the fine work).
