Wow - I am jealous - a 40 foot LCD TV - that is what you call an mancave or NBA Arena (No Boys Allowed).
Seriously, the main board for a 40" Polaroid runs about $25-75 depending on model - bear in mind these are not typically slip-in socket boards - you are likely to have to disconnect and reconnect a number of wire connectors, and may have to do some soldering of connections. Google this search term - there are a number of companies selling them on the web - you will have to expand the search phrase with your exact model number to narrow the search - 40" Polaroid LCD TV main board
One thing to do first is call Polaroid - there are a number of comments on the web about a pending class action suit about Polaroid LCD TV main boards catching fire, and several commenters say that Polaroid sent a repairman to their home and replaced the main board for free when it failed, so you might try that first.

Television Repair reviews in Portland
After researching possible ...MoreRead more of this review issues with my 2 yr old 55" LCD HD television, I realized it was an issue outside my ability to fix. Initially I called for a quote to a nearby "big name" business. Overall experience . . .left me looking elsewhere.
I looked on Angie's List and saw the great recommendations for . I called on a Sunday and got voice mail - no surprise, I left a message. The surprise was that I got a call back that day! I spoke with , and explained the issue I was experiencing. Based on their database of repairs, was able to give me a best guess on the issue and a very reasonable quote for repair if that was the problem all within 5 minutes of being on the phone with him. He did explain that once he knew which board my television needed, it would take about 10 days for the part to be delivered and for him to complete the repair. I agreed to his terms.
came to my house, took my television off the wall mount for me, did some testing and confirmed his suspicions. He took my television with him so he could install the new board when it came in and do testing where he had the equipment to do so.
A week later called back to say all done, the board arrived faster than expected and he'd completed the repair. He was out the next day. re-mounted the TV, made sure all my peripheral devices were connected and working (PC, Wii, DVD, sound, etc) and re-tuned the channels.
His quote for service & repair was exactly what he told me, no after the fact or unexpected additional expenses.
gave me times he'd be at my home for both appointments, and was really prompt! He was polite, professional, efficient, knowledgeable, and he makes house calls! I appreciated Repairs service, and will use them again if I have any other home appliance issues arise.
I suggested they turn it on and see if the lines appeared. Turn it off and then turn it on again and suggested they do this several times. I also took them some of the additional Direct TV plug-ins that we had and suggested they try them to see if they might be the problem.
On December 20th, they had not been able to replicate the problem with lines on the screen. I picked up the TV and the technician suggested that I hook up the TV without all the additional equipment to see if it worked okay. Then add the additional plug-ins one at a time to see if the lines appeared.
My son and I hooked up the TV at home. The picture seemed better than usual and I've only seen the lines once and they went away within seconds.
only charged us the original $40.00 and loaded the TV in our car for us. I definitely will use again for TV repair or any other electronic equipment repair.
Customer Service is totally lacking as well as general respect for a client. I learned the hard way!
Our had lost its color and all it had was a rainbow affect. Its an old set (bought in 1999/Panasonic) and when I spoke with he knew what was probably wrong even before he came to our home. Gave us several types of things ...MoreRead more of this review that could be wrong with it and told us what it would cost for each. We made an appointment and he was on right on time and went right to work. It was what he had suspected it would be and told me that it would cost no more than what he had quoted, $150.00. When he opened the back of our he cleaned the area and then fixed the problem. Not only did he fix the problem but solved and fixed a few future problems, at no extra charge, by soldering other cracked connections. explained everything he was doing as he went along and why. He went above and beyond what was required. He said that with the extra connections fixed, our should last for many years more. He then cleaned off the inside and outside of the , put everything back in place and was finished in no time at all. It was wonderful to have that kind of service and to feel good knowing that I have someone to call in the future that is honest and an excellent worker.
Thank you so much, /Advanced Repair.
