the weather was extremely hot, so the crew had to quit periodically for safety issues, but they finished the job on time -- it looks great :)

I would highly recommend them. They are all very professional. I will definitely use this company again. They also take good care of disabled veterans and gave me a nice military discount.

They were very knowledgeable and efficient, communicated with us well, and did excellent work. We picked their bid out of several because they seemed the most knowledgeable about venting which can really extend the life of the roof, and their bid was slightly lower than others without sacrificing quality. Now it's three years later, and we're still very happy with our roof. I gave their name to a friend and she was equally pleased. I'd recommend them to anyone.

This was our second experience with
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
. They replaced the roof on our prior home several years ago. they are great! They have a large, experienced crew who get right to work. Windows are blocked with plywood and tarps are placed around the house. By the end of the day, the roof is finished and everything is cleaned up.

I called 4 contractors, 3 from Angie's List late on a Friday afternoon prior to Memorial Day. First guy said he was on his way out of town, call back mid-week (I did not).
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
came out next day. was very helpful, spent a lot of time with me & gave lots of info & advice I should check, no matter who I chose, etc. His bid was not the lowest but the one I had the most confidence in accepting. His crew was able to start & complete the job earlier than anticipated. They were respectful, very cheerful, worked quickly & did a good job on cleanup. I would definitely recommend L & N Roofing to anyone.

I always wonder if I've done enough homework when selecting a company for a major job like this. I rely on Angie's list and other reviews like Yelp. I received 4 bids. One of the companies didn't bother getting on the roof to do the bid, so I eliminated them. I don't know if that's necessary, but the others, including Cascade, took the time to get on the roof, so I only considered these three. Cascade was the middle bid. These were all Angie's List A rated companies. Cascade just struck me as a company that would be good to do business with, and they were.
Like the other reviews said, they came with a large team. They recommended that I stay until the original roof was torn off, so I would know what shape the roof was in prior to leaving. The tear off was quite fast and was done by 9:30am or so.
The tear off is noisy, so my dog was a bit freaked. If it had been a cooler day, I'd have put him in the car during the tear off. I removed him from the house for the remainder of the day.
They expected to be done around 5-6 that evening. When I arrived home at 7:30pm they were just finishing up. Even though it was a bit later than they estimated, the foreman still sat down, answered all my questions, and told me what they'd found on the job. I really appreciated that he took the time and didn't make me feel like I was holding things up. As it turns out, one of my bathroom vents was only vented to the attic crawlspace, so they routed it to the outside and checked to make sure there wasn't any mold. They installed a new skylight and upgraded the boots and vents. It was a quality job. As others have mentioned, the cleanup was excellent. I was concerned about my older driveway, and they took that into account. There was no damage. I really appreciated that they brought a port-a-potty with them. I always wonder when companies don't provide this for their crews.

I interviewed at least 8 other roofing companies before choosing
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, and I am so glad that I chose them! The first thing that set them apart from the other companies was the fact that the owner of the company,
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, came out himself to do the bidding and inspection of the project. He didn't send a salesman or commissioned estimator to do his bidding. Because of this, it was apparent that Mr.
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
took personal responsibility for all projects that his company does.
Mr.
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
spent a lot of time with me answering all of my questions. He was also great getting right back to me via email when necessary. Communication was excellent throughout.
The entire project went very smoothly. The only issue was that something heavy accidentally fell from the roof and damaged our cedar deck. But, not to worry! Once the damaged was discovered, Mr.
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
immediately had the damaged planks replaced. The deck was repaired (beautifully, too) before we even returned home from work. I was really impressed! No hassle, fussing or complaining to get the deck repaired. Amazing!
I've worked with lots of contractors on various projects over the years, and my experience with
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was one of the best. There were no sudden surprises or changes in the estimate, and I didn't have to hassle or argue about anything with Mr.
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
. When the deck was damaged, it was immediately repaired. If I had a question or concern, it was quickly answered or addressed. I think the difference is that Mr.
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
truly cares that his customers are satisfied. He works hard to make that happen.
Further, they did an excellent job on the roof. It looks fantastic. And, his bid was actually one of the lowest of all! I highly recommend
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, and I can be a hard customer to please.

This is a difficult review to write. Based on the work quality, the company could have and SHOULD have received an A rating. But one puzzling lapse and delays to get this lapse fixed let me give only a “B. “A” stands for “Excellent” and excellent means flawless. We had received proposals from two other companies which I’m using for comparison. We worked with
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
as estimator and project manager.
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was very knowledgeable and thorough, and explained his findings clearly. Before
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
came out for the assessment I was told he needed access to the attic, which helped me to prepare. Bidder #1 did not want to see the attic (red flag), and bidder #2 informed me that he needed to see the attic only when he arrived, so I had to hurry to prepare access.
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
presented the proposal in person, which made it easy to clarify points I did not understand. Price was competitive with bidder #1. When
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
presented the proposal, I asked if the project could start on June 16th, which fit with our vacation plans.
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
confirmed verbally that June 16th should be possible. A few days later I awarded the job to PWR and drove to the office to sign the contract. I was shown our job on the calendar starting on June 16th, marked with a couple of exclamation
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, although the contract stated “work to commence on or before June 30th”. After our vacation we were informed that June 16th was no longer possible because a job on an apartment complex was taking longer than planned. We then ran into bad weather and another delay. Then we found out that
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
had a long-planned family visit out of state so we discussed the options. He was not comfortable having the job start without him being around, and suggested
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, one of the co-owners, be my contact during the project.
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
introduced
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
before he left. I specifically asked about which situations required me to contact
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and both told me that the foreman was very experienced and could make decisions during the working phase. The project finally started on June 30th. The prep crew delivered material,
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
-potty and a big dumpster, using plywood to protect the driveway. The plywood vendor delivered the plywood for the roof decking, but did not protect it from rain that was forecasted. I had to get a tarp and protect the plywood from a very heavy rain. The crew was excellent, worked very hard and did a quality job. The foreman,
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, and I had a good rapport and communicated well. On the morning of day 2, I pointed out to
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
that I did not see 24 cutouts for the intake vents
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
had specified in the contract for proper ventilation of the roof. I offered a copy of the contract but he said he had one in the truck, but felt 24 vents were too many. I showed him that material for 24 vents were delivered and assumed he would install them. He installed only 16. Based on the meeting with
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
where I was told that the foreman was very experienced and would make decisions, I did not feel the need to call
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, but planned to mention it to
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
upon his return. The job was completed on
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
3rd. The crew cleaned up every evening and left the premises very clean after completion of the job. They worked hard and
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
took good care of his crew during some very hot days.
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
performed final inspection on
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
9th during which I mentioned only 16 vents were installed. He insisted we need 24 and promised to get them installed as soon as possible. Assuming our 8 vents were still available, I assumed the job would be completed within a week. On
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
30th I reminded
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
that the vents were still not installed. That’s when I learned about a material shortage and the sheet metal vendor had some issues supplying new vents. The 8 vents we had earlier had mysteriously disappeared. On August 5th, still no vents, at which point I expressed my disappointment. This
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
to a not-so-pleasant exchange between
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and myself and I asked
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
for a face-to-face. We met next day and had a very constructive meeting. The 8 vents were installed the day after I met with
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and it took the repair person less than two hours to do so. The job is finally done but could have been done on
Portland Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
3rd. The company’s slogan is “Start to finish – 34 years of doing it once and doing it right”. Unfortunately, this did not happen. I do recommend PWR as a roofing company. The quality of the initial assessment and the work done by the crew were excellent. Deviating from a contract and then delaying a two-hour fix by four weeks is unacceptable. This is how PWR lost their “A” rating.

I called on 7/18/2014 and asked for someone to come to my house and provide an estimate for my garage roof. The person I spoke to said that someone could stop by that same day. The appointed time came and went, and nobody showed up. I called back to the company, got their voicemail, and left a message asking if they were still coming over. They never responded to my message, and I never heard from them again.
Very unprofessional. I would not do business with this company.

It turned out beautifully. The exhaust fan is great! This home was built in the 70's and if it ever had an exhaust fan it wasn't there when we bought it. Just a ceiling fan cruddy with grease. We bought another ceiling fan a few years later and that just did not work at all for getting rid of the cooking smells and crud left on walls and ceilings. This is so much better. They actually not only hooked it up they vented it to the outside and installed the exhaust connection to the outside through the roof.
They were clean, fast and efficient. They showed up on time and left the place clean.
A few days later the electrician came out and hooked up the exhaust fan to our existing electrical panel and installed the lights. He also showed up on time. He was fast, efficient and clean.
The jobs for us that they did were done professionally and reasonably. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to our neighbors. They do more than lights and fans.
