"I was on the budget plan and transferred my business from Farm and Home when Suburban bought the company. On the first chilly weekend of last winter, (after I had paid on my budget" plan for 3 months without a delivery) the oil ran out. I called, they sent over a technician to relight the furnace and 5 gallons of fuel. Repeated this 5 times without a delivery over the next week, and 7 times further over the next year. I did not renew my contract. I am changing my heating system to propane with another supplier, and was trying to leave as little oil in the tank as possible for the change-over, Without contract, warning or consent, they just delivered a full tank of oil and a huge bill. Now lets talk about their accounts department. Sending letters of demand for services paid for in advance. Billing twice for the same delivery. Sending undecipherable bills. Rude, demanding phone calls

"They did an excellent job. Very friendly and professional. No
fees / charges and performed the work as promised and on-time. This was a new construction install." Upon initial pressure up there was a leak and had to call construction plumber back to repair and they replaced a valve - unfortunately that did not fix the problem when Action came back to do the install for the 2nd time. Again there was still a leak so plumber back again (this time Action had left their own pressure gauge so that I could visualize proper repair)…Action back out for the 3rd time and that was the charm. Throughout this week long ordeal (verge of trying to close) they were courteous, cooperative, professional and timely…they knew this wasn't my issue and just helped me get the problem resolved. They're a family owned local company and that's something I like to use when possible. I stopped by their shop in Cedar Park and they have a nice selection of items for grills (to include new ones) for repair and accessories. Friendly office staff and more than willing to assist and answer questions.

".This is the worst company I have ever tried to do business with. I had 100 gallons of propane put in the tank in 2012. This also provided free leasing for two years. This year I" got a bill for $59.13 for the 2014 lease. Since I have never used any of the propane, and have no intention of using any of the propane, I called them and left a message. I left a message for them last year when I received a bill in error so I expected they would call me back, as they did last year. I did not get a call back but I got another bill. I called again and told them I wanted the tank picked up. The young woman explained there would be a fee for picking it up and also a pump-out fee. She said the person picking up the tank would pump out the propane before the tank was transported. She said they would also pay me back for the propane in the tank. The man arrived as scheduled to pick up the tank. When it became obvious he was taking the tank without pumping out the propane, I told him what I had been told by the representative in the office. He said there was no way to pump it out until he got to the yard. Then I got several statements which each showed different things. One gave me credit for the propane, one charged for the pick up of the tank, one for the pumping out of the tank and also pro-rated rent. The time kept going on for the rent, even though I had tried promptly to get this taken care of. Even though I had gotten all of the statements, I never got the check so I kept calling. A young lady in the office told me it had to go to "corporate". Her
of voice implied that "corporate" was the enemy. I kept calling and finally in
was able to talk to a lady who said she was a supervisor. I told her about receiving the first bill and leaving a message. She said they had changed the phone systems and then found out that messages left during the time I left a message could not be retrieved. She also said she would refund the rent charge. Even so, I did not get the check. I kept calling and finally was referred to a man, who said he would take care of getting me the check. I finally did receive a check on September 4, 2014. It was postmarked August 29, 2014. The check was dated May 15, 2015, and was good for 120 days. I barely got it in time to deposit it. However, it did not include the amount for the rental which was to have been refunded. The check was mailed by AmeriGas,
Box 965, Valley Forge, PA. It had been returned to them at the end of May and they made no effort to contact me. So, they still owe me money for the rental. This has been a horrible, time-consuming experience.

They showed up and made the fill at an inflated price, which wasn't in itself the end of the world. But then since they've got you on the payment plan, they keep showing up when you don't need a fill yet (I tried calling and asking them not to, to no avail; it's a "benefit of the payment plan" and they refuse to either skip a delivery or do a partial fill) and for *these* visits, they ramp the price up drastically, so that suddenly you're being charged over $200 a month, and it quickly gets difficult to dig back out of it.
After I paid them off in a lump sum so I could just do fills when I needed them and ask for a partial fill if I wanted to, the service rep I talked to tried to tell me they couldn't do that, until I pointed out that I'd been told I could do it once I got off their payment plan, and I was off it now, so I expected to be able to, and she just said "okay" and went ahead with it. There's a lot at this company that is mutable or adjusted depending on whether someone makes a stink or what they think you'll put up with.
In mid-January 2014 we were having an unusually cold winter in NC, and I saw headlines about the propane shortage and how some NC consumers had reported prices as high as $3.55 a

was outside even that number. Then in summertime (when propane prices are lowest), I called to ask for the current price and order a fill. I was told that my price* would be $4.22/

*There's never "the price" --there's *your* price, based on their estimation (how long you've been a customer, whether your tank is above or below grade, etc.) of how statistically likely you are to be willing to go to the trouble and pay the tank removal fees to cut ties with them and take your business elsewhere.
These folks have loads of complaints online about this type of progressive, parasitic gouging of their "valued customers," and though a common theme is that if you complain about the price they'll lower it a little bit (but still considerably overpriced compared to other providers) and that if you threaten to leave, they'll lower the price to something just a little bit over what other companies in the area are charging, but I don't want to do business with a company like this and I'm getting rid of them. If I could give them lower than an F rating, I would.

My main complaint with these people was that I felt we were regularly overcharged. The last bill was 5/27/14, total was $267.14 for 54.1 gallons propane delivered. This comes out to about $4.51/#, but it was as high as $5.65/# at some point. The only way I know of to deal with the propane racket is to own your own tank. We recently bought our own tank and switched companies to one we hope will be more fair in what they charge. At least the initial fill-up was way cheaper. And if you own your own tank, you can leave the old company if they start gouging you and sign up with someone new without being financially penalized. In switching companies, we had about 28# of gas left in the old tank, and Sunrise did not reimburse us one penny for it.
The reason I gave this company some good

is because their driver

was always friendly and courteous, and their employee

She was very short/indifferent in her responses and did not treat me like a valued customer. We always paid our bills on time, so I felt we were indeed good customers, and I expected to be treated courteously.

Six weeks and six phone calls later that tanks are still here. Their service reps are delightful and professional. Customer service is excellent - actual service however, is non-existent. Every time I call I'm told that my pick-up was scheduled for "yesterday", but they must have had an emergency. Different people use exact same language, so I know now this is all bogus. How do I get to be their emergency? I wouldn't use, or recommend,

came by on short notice to fix a fissure in an outdoor pipe. He let me know that I did not have a backflow preventer installed for my pool and that first it was not up to code and second, in certain circumstances this could mean contaminating the water supply for my home. He took the time to answer all of my questions and I also had the backflow preventer installed.

I originally contacted Suburban about a year ago to do a site visit and quote for a generator installation. I put the installation off at the time because of expense, but decided to go ahead with it several months ago, as I did not want to go through another hurricane season with power outage problems. The salesman/office manager
Portland Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
me to believe the job could be done at the time the electrician would be installing the generator (early August), but they kept putting me off and not offering me an installation date, and for the last two weeks have been telling me they had to service people on a 'first come, first served' basis, although my request has been in the queue for a long time. Finally after many calls and emails, they offered to squeeze me in on a standby basis (meaning I would not know until that day if they were coming or not), and when I said I needed a definite date, they went back to saying they would get to it 'as soon as they could' and then repeated all the usual pat phrases about customer service being their first priority, etc. I could see they were not going to be reliable, and I wondered if they would be unreliable about propane deliveries, as well, so I signed up with another propane company.
I have nothing against the company and I believe Suburban is having some kind of major problems, or there is something else going on there, but I could not afford to be at the mercy of that situation. I would not have been so disappointed if they had told me upfront that they were not going to be able to do the installation for months, but making promises they could not keep made me very wary about doing business with them again. I hope they straighten out whatever problems they have and become a reliable company again. The customer service reps were always very nice on the phone.

called the 29th of January for a propane delivery. I had about 30 gallons. After awaiting 10 days and no delivery i had to turn off my furnace with 5 gallons of propane left and heat with electric space heaters for another week before they even delivered. Then they left a bill for $4.83 a
