"We came in on a weekend and they were very busy. We were directed to the children's frames and left on our own. We got our name on the list to be helped," but we may have waited about 40 minutes before we were fitted. The fitting process was smooth as was payment processing (via credit card). We did buy two pairs and the warranty since they were for a child. We were told it would be 7-10 days until the glasses were ready. We called to check on them, when the time had passed and one pair was ready, but the other pair wasn't so we had to wait a bit longer. We called them to check, but never received a call from them. Because the two pairs were less than one pair elsewhere, we assumed our insurance would cover both pairs, but they only paid for one. This perhaps would have made me look elsewhere, but we had friends who had good experiences here which is what swayed us.

"Met with
(great guy) on first visit to look at the Silhouette frames (& discovered they cost even more than I thought) but I still wanted" them. He was very helpful & spent a lot of time with me. Made appointment to come back for new eye exam because I was sure my other prescription wasn't correct. Dr.
did a very thorough exam & had me do reading with different lens strengths so we could get the right power for me. She was excellent.
helped me pick out the best frames and lens shapes & spent much time, I never felt rushed, she was also excellent.
, the receptionist was also very helpful and friendly. When I picked up my glasses I was a little worried in spending so much on a pair of eyeglasses, but was totally happy from day one. I adjusted to them right away, worth every penny. Excellent staff & service & will be my eyeglass store.

I almost felt like I was in a luxurious spa. I felt welcomed and very well attended to - by everyone: the people at the front desk, the doctor, and the very personable

Dr.

They were very helpful and took a lot of time to find a pair of frames that fit me well and that I was happy with. They offered a lot of advice and explained how glasses fit, where they normally compress, how they get adjusted and what I might need to consider in making a selection.

I chose a pair of frames and ordered lenses. The glasses were ready earlier than promised. I was very happy with the entire transaction.

On May 5th, 2007, I ordered two pairs of glasses from this place, costing me about $800 total (this was a "sale", where one pair was "free"). I bought one pair of glasses and one pair of sunglasses. The sales person suggested that I purchase polarized lenses for the sunglasses. The polarized lenses of the sunglasses were defective, so I asked them to redo them (I returned them within two days). They never called to offer me any options or info about what they were doing (I had asked about various lens choices to hopefully correct the original problem), and they ended up doing absolutely nothing for about three weeks. The manager was our contact person for the whole ordeal. Tons of calls were made by me, NO proactive service on their part the whole time. Finally, they redid the glasses with lenses that were $100 cheaper than the ones originally ordered, and when I asked for the difference to be refunded, I was refused, and told they had "bent over backwards" for me. Hmmm, yeah I guess three to four weeks of NO communication and no sunglasses to wear is bend-over-backwards service?!?! Thanks

!!! After several more phone calls to the manager, she finally agreed to issue me a refund of $50, which met me halfway for the $100 I had asked for (keep in mind the glasses were being redone with lenses that COST $100 LESS THAN WHAT I HAD ALREADY PAID......I was just trying to get that price difference refunded and was not even asking for anything to make up all the time I wasted and frustration I experienced while they sat doing nothing). So SEVERAL MORE weeks go by, and I finally get a check...for $25!! Unbelievable. So I call, and after at least a week of discussion/hounding them/not hearing back, the manager agrees to issue another check for $75. It took several more calls and at least two more weeks to get the rest. Unreal.

They offer Saturday and Sunday appointments, very nice. Both, my husband and I, needed new frames so we went to Blink because they had cool frames. The optometrist was at the same location, so while one of us was with the doctor the other picked out frames. The staff was very helpful. They walked around the store and picked out frames they thought we might like, and not just the most expensive. We both got frames we really liked, although they were pretty expensive.

This is actually the third time that either me or my wife have gotten glasses at
Portland Eyeglasses Stores Provider Name Locked
. My wife got Hi Index polycarbonate lenses that quickly became etched (the first time ever for her) that required a re-do within a year of purchase of the lenses. I then obtained the same type of lenses, and despite meticulous care of these lenses, they too have become scratched and inexplicably etched. The latest purchase was some prescription sunglasses. I got them back and they were warped so that I saw a rainbow within my vision. They went to remake them, but lost all my contact info so I had to

them to get the glasses back. So far, I can still see but it's only been a few months. Why do I keep going back? I live three blocks from them. But as a lifelong eyeglasses user, I'll probably drive back to the
Portland Eyeglasses Stores Provider Name Locked
Scholls area where I used to live to get my glasses in the future. I think that the lab
Portland Eyeglasses Stores Provider Name Locked
used to grind the lenses is the problem, but that's just my opinion.

The employees at
Portland Eyeglasses Stores Provider Name Locked
were very helpful while I was picking out eyeglass frames, and offered many suggestions and options. They made the selection process much easier than if I was doing it on my own, and were very patient with my indecisiveness. They billed my insurance for me, which went very smoothly, and they knew exactly how much of my purchase would be covered. I was told it would take up to two weeks for the glasses to arrive, but they were there within a week.

stands behind the products they carry, and they tell you to come back if something is not right. The lenses and frames might appear to cost more than elsewhere, but the quality, product warranties and customer service makes it well worth it.

I went to
Portland Eyeglasses Stores Provider Name Locked
because I liked the frames in their window display and knew that they had been in business in Portland since 1910. There were two clerks in the store. The one who assisted me was fairly helpful, but was distracted quite a bit by small things going on in the not very busy store. They had a two for one special going so I chose two frames (quite expensive even for the two for one deal) and made an appointment to see their doctor the following week. He was professional and explained progressive lenses well. I decided to order two pairs of progressive lenses in their frames. I was told it would be over a week to receive them. When I was called 8 days later, I went in to pick them up. I tried them on and since they were my first pair of progressives, they seemed very strange. The same
Portland Eyeglasses Stores Provider Name Locked
explained that I would get used to them. She didn't seem very knowledgeable about how progressives work. After about a week, I was still having problems with the progressives. I did some testing and research and the lenses seemed to be badly made. There should be three zones that merge, the top for far away, the middle for computer work, and the bottom for close reading. I had about 1 mm of the close-up bottom field and when viewing through the center I couldn't see clearly when looking at a computer. The lenses appeared to be cut too high. I went back in and explained the problem in depth. The same
Portland Eyeglasses Stores Provider Name Locked
said they probably just needed to be adjusted and proceeded to do that for a half hour. I explained that it wasn't working but she refused to give me any alternatives. I expressed my unhappiness and said that I wanted to see the doctor again, hoping that he would be able to look at the lenses and see how the zones were off. I had to wait five days to see him (an extra trip in, this makes three so far). When I got there, he told me that he would do a new exam. I said that I didn't feel that was necessary, but he insisted. He thought that maybe one of the frames was too small for progressive lenses, but even after looking at the larger pair, he agreed that something was wrong. He suggested changing the smaller pair to single vision and keeping the larger pair as progressives, but having them redone. However, when he went to the clerks who deal with the orders, they told us that if I wanted to change any part of my order they would have to charge me the full price again. Needless to say, I was upset. They said they would need to clear any changes through
Portland Eyeglasses Stores Provider Name Locked
, the manager of the store (though she worked in a different location). After they spoke to
Portland Eyeglasses Stores Provider Name Locked
, they offered to charge me $40 to change the glasses. I refused and explained why I thought this was wrong. They then spoke to
Portland Eyeglasses Stores Provider Name Locked
again and said that they would make a SPECIAL EXCEPTION and charge me nothing since "the doctor made a mistake." The doctor did NOT make a mistake, the person who cut the lens made the mistake. I took the deal. I felt the doctor was unfairly blamed. I won't return.

We are middle-aged and have used this company two times for eyeglasses. The personnel are well versed in choosing frames for your face shape. We also noticed they take into their decision what styles you personally like. They may suggest something new, but will find you something that makes you comfortable. They also know how to make your dollar go far with insurance. We also asked for a special way to make our bifocal and they gave the pros and cons of this suggestion and let us choose the result. Many choices of new frames and lens choices are great.
