Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
was hired by my contractor during a major remodel that ended in April 2010. I had requested that they use the natural wood finish by Osmo that Ecohaus supplied on my
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
. My contractor did all the communication with
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
. I did not find out until after the work had been done that they had never used this product before.
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
, the person who did the floors, went to a training in Seattle. When we moved into the home, the
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
looked funny but I had never seen the finished product before. We moved in on February 22nd and on March 8th, we noticed black spots splattered on the floor that could not be removed. I emailed photos of the spot to a representative, Dawn at Ecohaus. I had a good working relationship with them and had bought several products through them. She emailed me back on March 8th, and stated that she had shared the photos with an OSMO representative and that there was not enough finish on the floor. I had
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
come out over spring break in March, and I was told by my contractor that they would apply another coat of finish. Within 1-2 weeks after that I had the black spots on the floor again. I saw that they were caused when water pooled on an aluminum
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
left drying on the counter overnight, dripped. The black spots formed immediately where the water dripped and could not be wiped away. It was like a burn. I called Dawn at Ecohaus and the contractor and told them something is wrong with the floors. Dawn absolutely agreed that the product should not perform like this.
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
's response was that he did what the instructions said. We had a long discussion at the house.
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
agreed that he was overly cautious with the product because he had not used it before and did not put enough product on. He told me this, "I did not put enough product on." It was concerning to me too that he was not able to assess after completing the job that the floors still looked raw, unfinished. I also learned at this time that when he came back over spring break he only put OSMO liquid wax cleaner in the kitchen area. I said that it needed to be in all areas-entry, dining, living, family room, bathroom, and office. So, he sanded down the brown stains and put another coat down of the liquid wax cleaner. I just learned from the OSMO representative from Seattle,
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
and the manager at Ecohaus,
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
that the liquid wax cleaner does not have any oil in it! My
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
never received enough of the finish!  These are 2 different products and are not interchangeable. Shortly after the last time I had them out in April, despite being cautious of all water drops, I had more brown stains in the kitchen. I emailed the OSMO representative at the time,
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
, and he found no causes for this to happen except that there is not enough finish. I did not know at the time that they were not putting the right product on when they came back 2x to try to fix their original mistake (also remember that the rugs and furniture were in the house now). I also called Birdseye Floors that Ecohaus recommended for a second opinion.

Mace, the owner said the floors did not look right, there were a lot of sanding
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
too. He said I would probably need to resand and start over. At this point, that was the worst news. We had moved out completely for 11 months and now to move all the furniture out and deal with sanding. He suggested waiting over the summer to see what the floors looked like with the warming weather. Since then, I have thrown out all metal baking pans. But in the last month, those black spots appeared around our piano area in the living room. My kids are the only ones that play the piano and I sit there while they practice. I had no idea what could have caused them. I sent pictures to the OSMO rep, now

, and he scheduled himself to come down right away.
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
and
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
both came to the home and agreed that there was not enough finish on the floors, and that there was craftsman issues. They said they have never heard of these spots occurring with other customers and that they shouldn't if the floor had enough finish on it.
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
pointed out inconsistencies in the staining too. I have documentation from him. He also informed me of the difference in the OSMO product and the fact that the cleaner does not have the oil in it.
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
had requested that I contact
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
and ask them to be at our meeting. I tried to contact
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
, the owner and he didn't return my call. After my 2-3rd attempt he returned my call and said he didn't want to be at the meeting, he was very defensive and said he did what he was told to do. But
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
was not at my house at all when the work was finished or during the 2 call back times. I explained that this meeting was to find out what's happening with the floors, but
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
did not want to be involved.
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
and
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
had recommended an experienced Wood Floor Contractor,
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
from Domino Hardwood Floors. I had him come out. He agreed 100% that the
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
did not have enough finish on them and that they looked very dry. He has a lot of experience with the product. He told me that he contacted 2 customers from 5 years ago to see if they wanted to have a new coat applied and when he went to assess the floors, one needed it and the other did not. This product does have longevity. Also I will add that we do not wear shoes in the house and do not have pets, so our floors do not get a lot of wear and tear. Mr.
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
gave me a bid to reapply the proper amount of finish to the floors. After the first coat, he will then assess if it needs a second coat.   I tried to contact
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
at
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
after the meeting. He did not return my 2 calls, but did answer his phone when I called on my cell number. I told him about the findings of the OSMO rep,
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
and the experienced company, Domino Hardwood Floors.
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
said that he wasn't going to do anything, that they had applied the product like they had been told to do and that since I couldn't go after his bond (it's been over a year), he wasn't going to do anything. Their bid proposal says all work to be guaranteed. Your website says their work is guaranteed-not true!  They didn't know how to use this new product, they didn't know how to assess the floors and they don't care that the floors are not right-they've been paid. (my contractor paid them, so I had to reimburse). I have pictures but not sure how to add them, and documentation.

installed a beautiful new hickory hardware floor in the living room, dining room, kitchen and hallway for my son's remodel. The layout was tricky as the hall ended at odd
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
leading to the bedrooms and the living dining room is large, brightly lit and the focal point of the home. Poor joints and/or poor layout are impossible to hide. Fortunately
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
did an exceptional job laying out the wood pieces and all the lines and joints came out straight as an arrow.
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
work is careful and meticulous and  the results show off his craftsmanship.  We had had another company do a large scale maple floor installation for our own remodel previously which eventually turned out fine - but they had to redo the final finishing twice to hide the less than perfect final sanding job. After that experience when we decided to add wood floors in two bedrooms we got a bid from
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
. He was highly recommended and we felt fortunate to have him do our job. The tricky part in the bedroom flooring was, again odd
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
to the hallway and making the new wood floors look continuous to the previous job. All I can say is that he did truly great work - the result between the floors was seamless and we've received numerous compliments on how good the floors look. Our latest experience with
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
work on my son's remodel was no different. The new wood floors completely enhance the look of his place. The hickory was replacing a tile kitchen, dining room and hall and a carpeted living room.
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
was very helpful in suggesting types of  wood and product, finishes and board width. The result was terrific. I can't imagine anyone better to install or finish wood floors!

"This was the best part of my extensive home remodel and addition--On-time, punctual, clean, courteous, did what he said he was going to do. Boardwalk literally resurrected ~400 sq. ft. of fir floor from the dead and we were ecstatic with the service and result."

"Although we don't know the cost of the project since it was subcontracted, we can say without hesitation that
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
did an amazing job. He gave us advice on whether to stay with the color of the wood or stain (we stayed with the original color), what kind of finish to put on the wood and the care of the hardwood floors. We couldn't be happier with his work and recommend him highly."

"Very

process.
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
provided an estimate (we got 3 estimates and he came in in the middle - we felt more confident in
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
than in the low bidder, though), we discussed dates and times that would work for both of us, then he and his brother showed up and completed the work on time and in an exemplary fashion. We needed to be out of the house for a week or so while they did their work and were very pleased to see the end result when we returned. We highly recommend

dropped off several different styles of wood floor samples so we could compare them in our house and decide which style would look the best. He also went over the entire process so there would be no surprises, as well as cost of each different type of wood. When we decided on the flooring he gave us an estimate and we scheduled a date to begin. The entire process took a couple of weeks. The workers were very nice, clean and respectful of our home. The result was very dramatic to say the least. Our floors look beautiful. We are very happy with our choice and will use
Portland Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
for future projects. I recommend their company to anyone who is thinking of installing

"They were great. The staff was super, super friendly. They did awesome work. They were really honest about how the floors were going to turn out because the floors were really old and damaged. They let us know about any flaws that were going to show up beforehand so there were no surprises. We liked them. They totally cleaned up really well. We

’t have hardwood floors now but we would use them if we did."
