was hired by my contractor during a major remodel that ended in April 2010. I had requested that they use the natural wood finish by Osmo that Ecohaus supplied on my

. My contractor did all the communication with

. I did not find out until after the work had been done that they had never used this product before.

, the person who did the floors, went to a training in Seattle. When we moved into the home, the

looked funny but I had never seen the finished product before. We moved in on February 22nd and on March 8th, we noticed black spots splattered on the floor that could not be removed. I emailed photos of the spot to a representative, Dawn at Ecohaus. I had a good working relationship with them and had bought several products through them. She emailed me back on March 8th, and stated that she had shared the photos with an OSMO representative and that there was not enough finish on the floor. I had

come out over spring break in March, and I was told by my contractor that they would apply another coat of finish. Within 1-2 weeks after that I had the black spots on the floor again. I saw that they were caused when water pooled on an aluminum

left drying on the counter overnight, dripped. The black spots formed immediately where the water dripped and could not be wiped away. It was like a burn. I called Dawn at Ecohaus and the contractor and told them something is wrong with the floors. Dawn absolutely agreed that the product should not perform like this.

's response was that he did what the instructions said. We had a long discussion at the house.

agreed that he was overly cautious with the product because he had not used it before and did not put enough product on. He told me this, "I did not put enough product on." It was concerning to me too that he was not able to assess after completing the job that the floors still looked raw, unfinished. I also learned at this time that when he came back over spring break he only put OSMO liquid wax cleaner in the kitchen area. I said that it needed to be in all areas-entry, dining, living, family room, bathroom, and office. So, he sanded down the brown stains and put another coat down of the liquid wax cleaner. I just learned from the OSMO representative from Seattle,

and the manager at Ecohaus,

that the liquid wax cleaner does not have any oil in it! My

never received enough of the finish! These are 2 different products and are not interchangeable. Shortly after the last time I had them out in April, despite being cautious of all water drops, I had more brown stains in the kitchen. I emailed the OSMO representative at the time,

, and he found no causes for this to happen except that there is not enough finish. I did not know at the time that they were not putting the right product on when they came back 2x to try to fix their original mistake (also remember that the rugs and furniture were in the house now). I also called Birdseye Floors that Ecohaus recommended for a second opinion.

Mace, the owner said the floors did not look right, there were a lot of sanding

too. He said I would probably need to resand and start over. At this point, that was the worst news. We had moved out completely for 11 months and now to move all the furniture out and deal with sanding. He suggested waiting over the summer to see what the floors looked like with the warming weather. Since then, I have thrown out all metal baking pans. But in the last month, those black spots appeared around our piano area in the living room. My kids are the only ones that play the piano and I sit there while they practice. I had no idea what could have caused them. I sent pictures to the OSMO rep, now

, and he scheduled himself to come down right away.

They didn't know how to use this new product, they didn't know how to assess the floors and they don't care that the floors are not right-they've been paid. (my contractor paid them, so I had to reimburse). I have pictures but not sure how to add them, and documentation. "
