Handyman Reviews in Portland

I called the office and spoke with
. He was very patient, while I tried to explain in non professional terms,
the work I needed done. He provided me with an estimated time and cost, and all the other information that I might need
to make a decision. He set up an appointment with one of his technicians, to come to my home.
The technician, Joshla Ash, was prompt, in fact a few minutes early. He was very polite and a good listener as I explained
what I needed done. He was neat, clean and appropriately attired. Joshla got to work immediately. He was careful with the ladder placement and the use of tools, so that there was no damage to the siding, drains or the roof. The work was finished
quickly, without wasted motion or time. The work was done neatly, and better than I would have done. He cleaned up after himself, even retrieving a small screw that had dropped on a lower roof. He enjoyed working for the company, and said his
work was interesting and a good opportunity to do a lot of different things. He also said that the other employees were talented
and a pleasure with whom to work, and that his boss was a fine person.
The final bill was less than the estimate. A pleasant surprise.
I chose to pay the work order total today. Called
accounting department, about two hours after Joshla left, and spoke with
. She was friendly, efficient and great to talk with. Immediately recognized my name and knew what I owed. The payment process could not have taken more than three minutes.
I have no doubt that the three people in the company, with whom I spoke, exemplify everybody in the company.
is qualified to do a lot of different things, from extensive remodels to handyman projects. I assure you I will
call them first, the next time I need something done. And I will recommend them to several neighbors who need someone
they can trust to do a job.

did not show up on Friday or Saturday, and did not call. I finally called him on Monday morning. He said he would come over that morning, which he did. I showed him both projects. He forgot is tape measure to estimate the fence, so I had to loan him mine. He complained about how difficult faucet repair and installation can be, even though his job description says that he repairs leaky faucets.
gave me a $55 - $65 estimate for labor to replace my faucet, and said he would call me in a couple of days with my fence estimate. He called me a couple of days later saying that another customer of his was higher priority and that he would be doing that job instead.
His behavior was very unprofessional.

Handyman reviews in Portland

From first contact with
Portland Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
, he was very communicative and kept me in the loop with schedule and plans. The people who came out were professional and prompt. The wall was was uneven due to the house being 105 years old but they overcame the issue and hung it square and level. They even installed a glass shelf for me; no extra charge. That is the type of customer service that is hard to find these day.

and his team are very professional, friendly and easy to work with.

was so professional (knowledgeable, does what he says he will, wants you to be happy with his work, responsive, etc.), especially compared to some other contractors I've worked with and he had excellent references, so we hired him. I was immediately impressed with his ability to do so many different things and his quick and professional quote (which he stuck to exactly). His quote was very reasonable so we ended up doing more stuff than we set out to do! I really appreciated that
Portland Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
was always available for questions and made sure he came out the first couple times to work on the house so I could review the entire project as the work started. I did think we would be done in two days originally, but after it was all said and done it's been a couple weeks. This was mainly due to ordering things, getting paint, waiting for coats to dry, etc. I also felt like the communication was excellent with

, but sometimes there was a slight disconnect with his team that would come out to do the work. Regardless, they were all super easy to resolve anything I brought up and were so flexible and willing to go above and beyond to make sure I was completely happy with everything. Overall, we have every intention of hiring them to do more work in the future, I've already recommended them to family and friends, and I'm so happy with the end product. No concerns here, hire these guys.

Went really well. They stuck to their bid even though we ran into a significant change order. They didn't charge us extra even though most contractors would beg for an approved change order. I will use them again since we live in a 1905 Queen

Back screen door lock: Not only added a new handle, but did drilling/cutting as needed to ensure a secure fit in doorway.
Front door motion sensor light: Took extra time to ensure it was pointed in correct directions & timing and that I understood how to adjust it as needed. I failed to tell him I always used

lights in motion sensors, so he bought a halogen one, but I can live with that.
Garage door spring/cable: Figured out how to make this old, unique garage door opener work without hanging up any more and gave tips on how to avoid it getting hung up in future. Tested the door opening/closing a couple of times and had me do it too so that he knew I could operate it ok.
Kitchen florescent light diffuser: Diffuser had fallen out several times because standard size was a tiny bit too small to dependably stay in the frame. Safety issue. He went to a special place to ensure a slightly larger diffuser was cut from a bigger piece of diffuser plastic. Worked fine. Warned me to take it out slowly and carefully the next time a bulb needs to be replaced.
Garage ceiling light: An electrician who installed the light for me had mistakenly put it right where the garage door had to bypass, so

moved it to a safer position higher up and added a longer pull cord that he had jury-rigged to work in this unusual situation.

was prompt and professional. We had slight mix-ups about dates/times but worked it out fine. His final price was lower than his estimate. Took him about 5 hrs to do the work and about 2 weeks from day I first called him to day he came to do the work. Enjoyable person who focuses on the work and gives helpful tips, including about ways to deal with a recalcitrant oven and a dishwasher.

Sent request 6/15 for estimate on several home repair projects and received response he's fully booked for several weeks and to contact him if we'd still like to meet. 6/17 Sent follow-up letting him know we are still interested in scheduling a meeting and also sent floor plan for the patio/deck we're wanting to replace--number 1 project on our list of many. Received no response, so 6/20 sent another follow-up. On 6/23 received an email from
Portland Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
letting us know he has opening on Saturday (6/28) to meet and discuss our project. When we tried to nail down time, he has none available for the Saturday he said he had opening for in the first place and gave us Weds (7/2) as an alternative. When asked what his time availability, never heard from him again!

From start to finish

was very responsive and punctual. He was consistantly on time and if he was running late he would call and let me now. Example: He called to let me me know that he would be 15 minutes late and this happened maybe 2 times. He always kept me informed and educated about the process. I always knew what was happening and when it would happen.

is an excellent craftsman, very skilled and has high standards. He does not suffer fools, in otherwords, he expects high standards in others. His history includes master shipbuilder of yachts and sailboats. He is a verbal guy, educated and has traveled the world with wonderful stories. I am extremely pleased with my new elegant bathroom. Since my circa 1927 bathroom had basically never been remodeled, there were a few surprises along the way.

did not think the lath and plaster need to be completely removed and afterwards wished that he had included that in his original bid. When he went to install the ceiling fan vent he encountered a solid wood block between the ceiling joists. This required a great deal of effort to remove and partial removal of the lath and plaster ceiling. He was able to seamlessly patch the ceiling with sheet rock, not an easy task. There were several adjustments and changes along the way.

always listened to my ideas. If he wasn't sure it could work, he would think about it rather than just say not can't be done. Most of the time he made it work. His finish work was the best. The original woodwork on the cabinets that were not removed look new. The plumbing and tile work were subcontracted. They were both excellent and I am extremely pleased with their work. It is clear that

has used them almost exclusively and knows their work is up to his high standards.

does have a countertop provider but I was very particular about the look I wanted for my countertops. In the end I used a provider that had in stock the marble look in quartz that I loved. It was a new design, so of course it was more expensive. I also found my own shower glass installer and

liked them so much he plans to use them in the future.

Although it took a few emails back and forth to clarify what probably needed to be done, the process and estimated cost was very clearly spelled out. Actual job cost about $75 less than estimate, and involved a "lighter touch". 4" hole drilled in back wall under sink, and thoroughly cleaned out, including one odorous "passed away" mouse. Another drilled behind dishwasher, and a third behind refrigerator. All areas cleaned, and re-sealed.

took good care of my greatest concern - bamboo floors which would mar very easily. Damp wiped up floors as he left. Very satisfied.

Quote was prompt and professional. Worker was late due to combo of traffic and wrong address but then was very polite, friendly, and professional while here. The drywalling was perfect, the spackling pretty good but not a perfect match with the rest of the ceiling. I don't think anyone else would ever notice the slight mismatch though (just me).
