COMPLAINT: James Templeton, Vancouver, Wash.

"I ordered a clear plastic lid for my grand piano from Applied Plastics Machining. This lid was to serve as a piano bar in a restaurant.

"I requested the cut-out disc to be included for possible control of volume emanating from the piano. Additionally, we had a verbal agreement that the edges would be beveled to reduce risk of injury to customers.

"Upon receipt of the finished product, I discovered the hole was placed only 16.5 inches from the edge, and it wasn't an equal distance from the left and right sides.

"The implications of this error are especially significant when one realizes the increased risk of a spilled drink flowing into the piano itself.

"Additionally, the company forgot to bevel the edges, and the disc arrived with a chip on the edge. Other than that, the product created by the company is absolutely beautiful and of high quality."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "Construct a new similar lid, with the hole 23 inches from the edge, bevel the edges and deliver it to me, replacing the present one."

COMPANY RESPONSE: Don Riddle, owner, Applied Plastics Machining

"We will fabricate a fixture to be placed into the hole to prevent spillage of liquids into the piano. The fixture will be sent via UPS to the member for approval. There will be no additional cost to the member."

STATUS: Resolved
