Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
met me at the site on time, did his measurements and was careful to utilize existing material where possible, then emailed an estimate that afternoon.
The work was performed on time as promised.
The job was very well done and took the amount of time he had estimated.
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
did what he said he'd do and he did it when he said he would.
It's nice (and unusual) to have someone keep his word like that.

and
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
had a very competitive quote for a new fence in our yard, and they were available to start the work in the time frame we wanted.
I liked how their quote itemized the different sections of the job (e.g. side fence, rear fence, gates).
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
kept in contact with us on the schedule and was timely with email responses to questions.
Arrival on site was as planned, and after review of quote and some final clarifications, work proceeded.
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
and

do their own work, so it took a couple days to get all the posts in for the amount of fence being installed. They were professional, easy to work with and focused on the job. They also asked clarifying questions as necessary.
The only (slight) delay was due to limited supply of the appropriate lattice-work for the style of fence we were installing. So, it took a couple extra days before the work was completed.
We liked the 2x6 framing they use on all fence gates for added strength.
After the work was completed, we noticed a couple minor items with some unevenly cut boards, and lattice-work. Both of these items were quickly corrected.
We are very satisfied with the result. The fence is a great addition to our yard. We have had some nice compliments on the work from neighbors and friends as well.

Without reservation, we recommend
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
. The old sagging, rotting fence boards along our property line should have been replaced years ago. We, and our neighbors who share the fence, got four bids. Two of these bids were from companies that had several projects going on at once making us unsure if our job would be adequately supervised. The fourth bid was from
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
and we've never questioned our choice.
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
, sole proprietor and installer, gave us a detailed bid and assured us he would be available to answer any of our questions. What we didn't fully understand at first was how agreeable it would be to have
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
here each day and to watch his meticulous preparation, installation and clean up.
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
researched posts in response to our neighbor's request to use raised metal fence-post anchors. He carefully removed and disposed of the old fence and installed a strong, solid, lovely 50' cedar fence.
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
also replaced a small fence section on our porch that overlooks another neighbor's driveway. We were struck by
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
's determination to clear all concrete remnants from this old fence line and with his insistence that this project be not just "utilitarian," but very attractive as we see it each day.
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
installed superior fences for us. He took care to ensure that both sets of neighbors were satisfied at every step of the job. He honored his bid and completed our projects on time. As a craftsman,
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
is a joy to watch and to know.

They were punctual and completed almost all of the contracted work with the exception of replacing one fence board on the existing fence. Now, to be fair, my wife contracted these guys and I was not involved and did not look at the contract beforehand. Upon completion I noticed they had used fir 2x4s to cap the new fencing when the existing fence clearly had a 2x6 cap. They obviously had come out and looked at the existing fence before drawing up the contract and doing the work. At that time they would have seen that the existing fence had a 2x6 top... Why oh why would they think it was OK to continue a 2x6 topped fence with a 2x4 top? Beats me!! They obviously did not care. And also, why would someone repair a section of 2x6 top with a section of 2x4? They even made it so the edges (on our side of the fence) lined up with the 2x6 so you would not be able to tell unless you got a ladder and got up there and took a look...which I did. I then told them I wanted them to at least swap out the repaired section on 2x4 with 2x6, and they said OK, but never bothered to actually do what I asked. They also did not change out the warped fence board which WAS an item on the contract.
So, if you want a decent reasonably priced fence put up, these guy are OK. But if you want to extend an existing fence and make any repairs to it, you had better make sure you have EXACTLY what you want spelled out in the contract, because these guys do not care what is already there. They are going to do their thing and if you want something changed they are going to smile and nod at you and then leave.
Our fence now looks great, but only after I went to the lumber yard, bought the correct materials, demo-ed the existing incorrect materials and installed the correct materials myself.

came out for an estimate promptly. His bid was comparable to two others I received but I liked how he asked questions to clarify my requirements and make suggestions on product and appearance. If you call about a fence in April, be prepared to wait in line.
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
was close to the initial estimate of early June. He and a helper completed the 34' x 7' cedar fence in 2 days. In addition they replaced an adjoining gate and short side fence and repaired some rotted areas in the arbor. I'm very happy with his work and responsiveness. I paid extra to have the holly hedge behind the fence pruned and hauled away. Since there was less pruning than anticipated
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
reduced the charge. My only complaint was having to rake up some holly branches left behind.

I had 3 key requirements for the pond cover: Avoid the pipes and electricity at all cost, slope the pond cover away from the street, and don't put a post in the view from my kitchen window. The salesman also advised me they would not have to put a post onto the cement patio or walkway. The installation was initially scheduled for mid-June. When they didn't show for the first appointment, I called them and was advised "the material wasn't in." I had verified the appointment a week earlier so found it rude they never called me to re-schedule. This was a month after I had accepted the quote and provided them with a 1/3 downpayment. These guys may be good at digging post holes and putting in fences, but this job is a disaster. It's two months late and not finished yet. I held back $1,000 for repairs to the pipes and landscaping so they have threatened to file a

. I had to compromise about the post in the view from my window. It sits on the cement patio squarely in front of the window.

1, two workers showed up with vague instructions. I expected they would use mechanical post hole diggers, but instead they started to manually dig the holes. They were aware the soil here is packed clay and rock so each guy took about 5 hours to dig one hole each. If they had told me they were going to manually dig the holes, I would have soaked the ground and they would have taken only 1-2 hours per hole. When they started with the second two holes, they realized they would hit pipes and one hole was over the existing cement patio. They stopped work to call their supervisor. I started calling the salesman, then their main office, and finally their

store manager. No one picked up the phone. The workers left. The salesman came out the same day on two trips, once with their "top installer" and once with the store manager. Their first proposal violated all 3 of my requirements. The engineering diagram showed a lot line at 100 ft. It was 140 feet. The side lot line was also shown at 100 feet. It's 110 feet. The pond is 25 feet from the side lot line; the drawing showed it 5 feet from the line. With these errors, they insisted they had to have a new engineering diagram completed because "I had moved the placement of the cover 4 feet." That didn't make sense. A 6,000

brick pond hadn't moved. They assured me they would rush the new engineering and permit through. Instead, they deferred the entire project 4 weeks. It's now 3 months from the initial quote acceptance and the project isn't yet finished. I discussed removal of the clay soil from the site with the first two workmen. Instead, it's dumped on top of existing landscaping and high-quality top soil. An old wooden arbor was to be removed. It's still there and now more difficult to remove because the new pond cover is next to it. They refused to complete any preparation work in advance so they knew they wouldn't hit large rocks or pipes. I dug 3 holes myself to prove to them even their second design would hit pipes. They had to shift the design another 6 inches to miss the pipe. Cement and clay was dumped on top of the rock landscaping by the front door. This will be laborious to clean out. This area is part landscaping, part drainage as the sidewalk encloses this area and it floods in the winter without the rock area as a catch basin. My 19-year-old weeping juniper was pulled back with a strap anchored by another tree in my front yard. I was told this was a two-day job, but it's not finished after 13 days. The vital pond pipes and electricity were cleared marked by me and blocked off to prevent walking over them. The workman repeatedly stomped on the area, walked over them with buckets of heavy clay, and rolled wheelbarrows over them. They have to be excavated and replaced which will require emptying the pond and transporting my koi with great risk and expense.

came out to bid our fence replacement. I asked about getting pre-stained cedar boards & he said they get them from Lakeside Lumber. He also said they have some special post holders his company makes & I wanted them included in the estimate. He told me it couldn't be done until
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
& I said that was OK. A week later the quote was emailed to me, it was a good price, but did not include the pre-stained boards & special post holders I was very interested in. He also said since the job was small he could start in 1 to 2 weeks. I emailed him back that I would like the estimate to include the pre stained boards & metal holders & I would be ready to go in the new time frame. Never received a response. I really don't understand someone going to all the time & trouble to come out bid a job, have an interested client & never reply. Very unprofessional.

I would definitely concur with other reviewers who noted that
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
is agreeable and professional in demeanor. He is also very knowledgeable and helped to educate us about the deteriorating foundation under a deck that we were considering repairing and refinishing. He was responsive to our inquiries to help us understand his manner of presenting a work proposal. As stated in their proposal document "we do things differently than other fence companies in the Pacific Northwest."
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
takes pride in his work and would prefer to create a premium lasting product. Although it did take some time and effort to get an "apples-to-apples" comparison to other estimates we had received,
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked
was patient and put in the effort necessary to help us reach an agreement. The workman he sent to carry out our project was friendly, efficient and very skilled. His work added value to our property that will endure.
Portland Fence Installers Provider Name Locked

It's nice to work with a small, local company that is also organized but not too formal. They promptly provided a bid, changed the parameters on a Saturday when the neighbor wanted a different style, and then installed on exact date and time. Well worth the money.
Removal of old concrete and wood was done by one guy on a very warm day. He poured and installed the new posts, then came back out the next day to build the fence and gate. Nice wood, solid base, and nicely fashioned gate. Nice work.
