Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
has an eye for detail and understood what I was after.  He is very pleasant and personable and I felt very comfortable leaving him unattended at my home. I am very happy with the outcome.  This came through in the bidding process and was the reason for selecting him - though I almost went with someone else due some lack of responsiveness on questions i was asking to clarify the bid.  I was worried about potential flakiness on the job as a result of this.  However it wasn't a problem once the job started. He seemed to start slow and it took a little longer to complete the job than originally expected.  This did not bother me as it was a fixed bid though this may have caused some rushing towards the end.  It also meant for some late evening working (until 9:30pm one night) which is not what I was expecting - it caused more upheaval in our days as a result.
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
does seem to prefer starting a little later and working later than my normal experience with contractors. The lack of responsiveness has resurfaced on a quote I asked for on additional small jobs.

"If you are not interested in reading all of the following details of our remodel, we want to emphasize how happy we are with our completed project and we would highly recommend
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
to do any remodel job or home improvement project. After receiving the architectural drawings we got a firm, detailed bid from
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
. After revisions and accepting the bid, we signed a written contract with
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
that followed the architectural drawings and had everything we wanted in our remodel and explained in detail with a dollar amount what was included: plumbing, HVAC, windows, interior doors, sliding doors, foundation, drywall, electrical, roofing, insulation, demolition, interior finish carpentry, tile work, siding, oak flooring. and the specifics of cleanup. We covered the choice and cost of special lighting, plumbing fixtures including shower doors, cabinetry in the kitchen and bathrooms (including counter tops), bathroom towel fixtures, bathroom tile, exterior doors and hardware).
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
had subcontractors for electrical work, HVAC, flooring, carpentry, and electrical. We had prior experience with a house painter who we wanted to use and it was not included in
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
's bid. Once work began, we found that we preferred to use a tile installer that we had previous experience with and the allowance for the tile installation was subtracted from our contract and we paid the tile installer directly.
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was agreeable to all of these changes.
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
gave us a timely and reasonable bid for these other work orders for some other small changes that we wanted. As far as the extent of the work involved in the remodel:
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
removed walls dividing the living room and dining room, moved the kitchen to the dining room location and the dining room to the kitchen location, vaulted the ceiling in the living room and added three skylights, added a deck and roof off the kitchen, relocated two bathrooms, added 12 feet to the end of the house thus enlarging the master bedroom and the third bedroom turning it into a studio with vaulted ceiling and two skylights and added an exterior deck to the studio. In addition, we had a walk-in closet added to the master bedroom.
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
acted as
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
's foreman and helped coordinate the work. Either
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
or
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
were at the job site every day from the end of November until the job was completed by our move in date of 3/17. Also, the contract included adding storage space, drop down ladder and sheet rock in the garage. That work couldn't be done while we stored household belongings in the garage so it was done in the next week as we emptied out the garage to make room for the drywallers to hang the sheetrock. There was no part of this project where
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
disappointed us and didn't perform over and above. We would highly recommend him. If he doesn't perform the work himself, his subcontractors and foreman,
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
, do the work meeting all expectations.
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
is easy to work with and made this remodel as easy on us as possible. No remodel goes exactly as expected except this one. The changes we made during the process caused no problems for
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and we stayed within budget. Although there were some additional costs (such as adding a pantry in the garage), they were choices we made during the process of seeing our vision come together. I am only sorry there are no opportunities to post photos of the before and after. Everyone would be amazed.

"Me (owner) should have had the project totally planned out from the beginning as it dragged on for about a year.
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was very patient and understanding. I appreciated the fact that
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
did quite a bit of the work himself (sub floor, tile, framing, finish work) instead of sending it out so it was easier to conference about change orders and other details."

"Old enclosed back porch and open front porch were removed and replaced with two totally new rooms.
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
& Construction provided all designs, bids, materials, and arranged permits and inspections; all work was completed within budget to comply with building code on schedule. I was especially pleased, as working on an old house built in 1903 can be tricky, but the contractor worked effectively to compensate for structural problems and comply with my particular tastes."

"The work took place over the course of 2 months (during the holidays), so he was particularly attentive to minimizing the disruption, chaos and overall mess. The remodel had to be done in a very specific order, beginning with replacement of the over-the-sink windows. He made sure each step was properly completed before moving onto the next. Bill also performed a number of tasks while on-site overseeing the subcontractors. He installed a motion detector light, repaired a bathroom fan, replaced bathroom faucet washers, repaired unsightly baseboards, and did some unrelated carpentry work for me. The bottom line: Bill is trustworthy, honest, hard-working and extremely respectful. It is always a pleasure to work with him, and he is the first person I call whenever I have a home-repair-related problem or project. If he cannot perform the work himself, he has an
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
of impressive subcontractors who will get the job done.

"Ours is an old house and has some peculiar features. In every case,
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
has been creative and careful in working on our home. He and his crew have been professional, friendly, and easy to work with. He is honest, on time, and on budget. There are few cases where I can unreservedly recommend a company or individual. This is one."

"This has been a very good experience with
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
. I think the work has gone remarkably well considering the extent of our remodel.
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
the owner is a great communicator and he is honest in all that he does. He is a perfectionist and will work hard to get the job done correctly. I'd hire him to do any work for me at anytime. My husband, who is a stickler for work done correctly has also been very pleased with all work done."

"House was built in 1927, and, aside from a somewhat newer toilet and sink, the bathroom had not been updated since the aluminum tile was installed around the tub and toilet in the 1950's. Much of the old bath is still sound, and I wanted to preserve it.
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
took special care, especially with the old ceramic faucet handles and shower head. The job took 3-1/2 days, and bathroom was left clean and usable (except for shower, of course) at end of each work day.
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
is thorough, neat, and professional, and I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again.

"We were having the house painted in a few days and needed an estimate and work done very quickly. Autumn was extremely responsive in coming out to the house and getting us an estimate the same day. He completed the work in a very short time frame, and we are very happy with the results. He was able to pull up individual pieces of 35-year-old siding and replace it where needed."

"At last, a drama-free job.
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was a terrific contractor who was easy to reach, helpful with any questions I had, and quick to get the job done and done right. His crew dug the window wella, and completed all the prep work needed for
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
to cut the concrete foundation for the egress window. The window they chose, was of excellent quality and was installed easily. All in all- the job took two days. The later framing and installation of the steel supports and the framing of three of four walls, including king studs to help support the steel went quickly and efficiently. Later when asked about the spacing for the studs around the new egress window,
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
realized they had been spaced too far apart and sent his team back to make the necessary correction which took roughly an hour. I was enjgaged in the process with
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his crew and he went out of his way to tell me he had seldom had a client who cared as much. I do and it was nice of him to mention it. This was a pleasant experience all around and I wouldn't hesitate to use
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
's services again or seek his excellent advice. The additional window wells were accepted at
Portland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
's recommendation and made complete sense to keep moisture away from those below-ground windows. In fact, he's coming back tomorrow to take a look at another project I am considering.
