and his crew did a great job at a very reasonable price.
We had an upper story added to our house during an extensive remodel in 1995. We had cut into an existing concrete retaining wall to create a garbage can area and support for a new front porch. The new porch foundation and wall began to separate a few years ago and then recently got much worse. I had 5 or 6 contractors take a look at it. Bids were very high. None of the solutions completely addressed the issue. We had almost given up but we worried that the wall was either going to collapse or the porch was going to start sagging. We were scheduled to move for an overseas posting within the next few weeks for the next 18 months. I was worried something catastrophic was going to happen in our absence. I was having nightmares about it.
had a decisive plan on the spot. He had full confidence that he could fix the problem once and for all. This is not the feedback I got from the other contractors.
He and
in the office accommodated our rushed schedule. The crew was always punctual and cleaned up nightly from what was a very messy project.
was on site several times a day to check on progress. He is very pleasant to talk to and always available for questions. During the demo he pointed out the previous cinder block portion of the wall had been filled with dirt and not concrete the engineering had called for. I had permits and everything. It was a horrible job. I had even talked to the contractor who did the original work. I am so happy I didn't pay him a second time for such poor work.
The replacement wall section will outlast the house! It is solid concrete with plenty of rebar. They slurried the old and new wall surfaces together. Cosmetically, the wall never looked this good. His men also did a beautiful job replacing all of the trim that had to be removed to gain access to the structural posts. They even caulked and painted. I was expecting to have to do that myself. This is one of the few times a contractor didn't leave me with a to do list after they were finished. I greatly appreciate that.
The temporary support posts needed to stay in place while the concrete cured. We had already left and was concerned they would be there for a long time.
came the next week and removed them as promised.
I will use
again when we return. I don't say that very often. Luckily, the biggest project on our list turned out to be the easiest contract of them all!

We moved into a new & modern condo that had almost no light fixtures and was therefore very dark. Our first task was to get attractive ceiling fixtures and have them installed by an electrician quickly. The electrical work was extensive. It included, but was not limited to replacing a light rail and transformer in the kitchen with 4” inch (remodel) can lights, installing low voltage rail and pendant lights in the dining room, extending wiring from an existing junction box to a new junction box, relocating a junction box and adding new light switches & dimmers. We realized that we’d need a dry-wall contractor to patch holes in the ceiling caused by the electrical work. And we’d also need a drywall contractor to patch many holes on a wall in the living room where a wall-mounted loudspeaker, flat panel TV and wooden frame around the TV had been removed. We asked our electrician,
, owner of
Electric if he could recommend a dry-wall contractor.
recommended the
. The bid we got from
, owner of the Dept. of Construction, was higher the bids from 2 other contractors we received. But we chose The
for the reasons they were recommended by
explained that they regularly work together on remodel projects, and do so cooperatively and very well. Their practice is to have the dry-wall team come to the job site an hour before the electrical team arrives to prep the site for the work by covering floors, windows, countertops, walls and furniture, and tenting off adjacent areas to limit their contamination from dust and debris. And the dry-wall team remains on the site as the electrical work is being done to provide whatever help they can to the electrical team and to follow behind the electrical team to patch holes as soon as practicable. On job day,
and his assistants arrived around an hour ahead of
’s electricians. They spent that time carefully preparing the condo for the electrical work by covering floors, windows countertops, walls and furniture, and tenting off adjacent areas of the condo. The electrical team arrived around 9 AM and finished around 9 PM. During that time,
and his assistants remained on site, patching holes in the ceiling and the holes on the living room wall where the TV had been removed.
and his assistant returned for a few hours over the next two days to sand the drywall patches, remove the plastic tenting and paint the ceiling. The close cooperation of
’s team with the electricians while the work was in progress was impressive. So was the quality of the dry-wall work. Because of their care and attention to detail, there is no hint in the condition of kitchen ceiling and living room wall that extensive dry-wall repairs had been done. The ceiling and wall appear as new. (See also our Angie’s review of

Overall, we were very pleased with the work done.
Portland Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
really knows his business. The work crew was on time every morning and done for the day when I got home from the office. The work they performed matched both the quote and the expectations that
Portland Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
set with me when we generated the initial quote.

This was a 5 day project and the crew was on time everyday and kept the work area very clean inside and outside the house. The scope of the project changed a bit as work progressed and
Portland Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
kept me informed and kept to the budget. He is very knowledgeable and personable and easy to work with. I have used this company once before to solve a wet basement issue and the basement has been dry ever since (its been about 2 years now). I really trust
Portland Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
's assessment and his work.

Portland Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
exceeded all my expectations.
We had previously contracted with another firm to take care of standing water in our basement crawl space. The prior work was not sufficient, and they ended up laying a vapor

over an existing vapor

- which is a recipe for trapped water.
Start to finish my experience with
Portland Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was fantastic. They were responsive from the first phone call, the estimator was diligent to survey the problem and then we had a thorough and clear conversation on what needed to be done.
The crew started and ended on time and were extremely courteous and considerate.
The real bonus came when the final bill arrived. Keep in mind we had a contract for the work - yet they discovered they didn't need to do as much as they anticipated and took $2,000 off the final amount. That represents character and truthfulness that is in short supply from most vendors today.
I would hire them in a heartbeat if I ever needed any of their services.

The representative showed us, with his manuals and drawings and then in the area of interest, how his company would have to install one of two very expensive proprietary wall "shields" all around the perimeter of the basement (even on the opposite side from where the water was leaking and pooling) while at the same time removing a good part of the concrete flooring to install a French drain leading to a sump pump in a far corner. Not only was the scope of the work extremely invasive and lengthy but far more costly than we had budgeted for. Fortunately, we received some very good advice to explore another option and in the end that advice paid off 3 times over - however, that advice notwithstanding, we would not have used
Portland Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
for two reasons: the first was that we asked the representative if his was the ONLY way to procure water abatement in the basement and he said yes and tried very hard to sell and sign a contract for the work ON THAT DAY without giving us time to think about it. Secondly, we simply did not have the money necessary for '
Portland Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
' work in the budget-it far exceeded our allowance for this problem. We would have had to seek an alternative anyway. As it was, the alternative we sought was NON-invasive, a guaranteed fix and 1/4 of the price.

I forwarded a copy of the general inspection report for the workman to review prior to visiting the home. He asked some questions about what we wanted to do regarding all possibilities and then made his assessment of the situation in the crawlspace. He was on time, professional and very courteous. A few days later I received the bid in email and, while it was a little higher than we expected, if we are able to move forward on this work later in the Spring when the ground is drier, we may very well use
Portland Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
if they are available.

Gave the bid, I wanted to hire him, and called him FOUR TIMES!!! The guy refused to return any of my calls, and that is even after his office manager promised he would give the message to him (
Portland Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
). The guy is obviously too busy for more work, and his bid was very limited--- probably best that I ended our relationship at the bid stage--- On to the next company!!!!!

The crew showed up promptly at 8 AM and started working almost immediately after we did a walk-through. All excavating was done by hand. All soiled dug up was placed on tarp and put back into place. They encountered several obstacles (tree roots, walkways, that they successfully navigated around. It took them a day and half to complete the work before a separate gutter subcontractor came in to complete the work on downspouts. When all trenching was complete, they covered with new top soil which look nice. It took about a day for the gutter work to be completed. In general, both teams, drainage and gutters did a great job and we are very pleased with the end product. In the planning stage,
Portland Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was very helpful in making suggestions about solutions as was Rod the gutter expert.

Overall the process was smooth and easy except for a malfunctioning hydraulic pressure tank...but they were right back the next day and completed the process. It looks good and appears that it will function great! already framed over the repair!
