Portland Acupuncturists Reviews
But I decided to stop seeing him about a week ago. His original pitch to me was that the treatment could last up to two years. I say 'pitch' because that's what it felt like - a sales pitch. The first appointment is $200 and that covers an initial consultation (mine took about 45 minutes) and a 'follow up', about half an hour. I was under the impression that the follow up would be him having considered what we'd talked about and telling me what the treatment would be - but it was just a sales pitch about how he structures his prices and what it was going to cost me to see him. And I didn't feel like he'd even looked at my file since our first appointment - he just repeated what we'd gone over by looking at his notes. I was really disappointed - I felt like my time had been wasted with the appointment. His appointments are fairly pricey - and he doesn't accept any health care plans, so it's all out of pocket. I was paying over $100 for most appointments (including some supplements) that tended to last about half an hour.
In addition to these issues, I am not altogether sold on the concept of muscle testing, which is how he does much of his diagnosis. I have had it done before and in both cases, I felt there were times where the practitioner was pushing harder against my arm or leg when they were expecting a certain outcome, and less so when they wanted a 'weaker' response, so that several times when he said "See, you've got no strength there around this" I felt like saying "umm.. but you weren't pushing as hard.."
So I have decided on balance not to see this doctor any more. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, because he had come highly recommended, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right and that I was spending an awful lot of money for something I can't quite accept as a reliable method of treatment."
