"My family has been taking our dogs to Vet Hospital for nearly 20 years. We feel so strongly about the quality of care our pets get that we travel across town to get there. Dr , Dr. , Dr. , , , and the entire team love animals and want them to be healthy. They are up to date on the latest vet science, but will not recommend health care strategies that do no make sense for your pet. They take time to answer your questions honestly and with compassion. Their guidance has helped us raise several wonderful dogs to ripe old ages. We consider the members of this clinic part of our family and highly recommend them."

"I was so happy that this vet had the prescription dog food that I needed so I went right over. took it home, dumped it into the storage bin. I noticed that it looked funny. It smelled funny too. so I looked at the expiration date on the bag. 2 YEARS outdated. I would have been OK with a few weeks or a month but 2 years! I called and told them and she said that she would credit my account. That apparantly meant that I now have credit with this place. I did not want that so I went back and had to insist that they put the charged amount back on my credit card."

"We have taken our 15-year-old cat here several times when she has gotten sick on a weekend evening and our regular vet hasn't been available. I believe the care offered here is quite good. It is also very expensive, and I wouldn't go here except in an emergency.
Our most recent visit was because the cat began having seizures at 10 pm on a Saturday. She also vomited. She is diabetic, and we assumed that was the cause and so fed her syrup (as previously advised by our regular vet) and then bundled her into the car and drove to . By the time we arrived she had stabilized (was no longer seizing) but was still quite weak. There was no one at the front desk, but a tech came out within a couple minutes and took us back to triage, where she wrote up a description of the problem and weighed the cat. She then us to an exam room to await the doctor and took the cat to "the back". We waited 35-40 mins till the doctor arrived. (They said they had an emergency, but this is not an unusual amount of time to wait, in our experience.) They had done an initial exam and taken a blood glucose reading, which was normal. The vet talked to us at length and recommended that we hospitalize the cat for 24 hours so they could monitor her and give her intravenous fluids. We declined for 2 reasons: the cat is very, very anxious at the vet's, and the vet said the hospitalization and treatment would run $700-$1000, which is a lot for 24 hrs and a 15-year-old cat. We agreed that they would give the cat an emetic to reduce the risk of her vomiting. We went back to the waiting room until they did that and wrote up the discharge instructions. About 20 mins later the tech came out to take us back to an exam room. They hadn't treated the cat yet, but she was "panicking a little", and they wanted us close by so that they could bring her to us more easily after the treatment was given. (The cat gets very feisty at the vet. She had regained her strength and was back to growling and scratching.) After about 10-15 more minutes they brought her to us and said they would come and get us as soon as they had prepared the discharge instructions. That took another 20 mins or so. All together we were there about an hour and a half."

"We had a very good experience. Dr. O'Leary is kind to my dog as well as doing a good exam. On our first visit, just after I had adopted her, he did a quick clip of her claws so that was taken care of. The staff happily answers questions and love to see my dog during our visit."

"after two other vets could not resolve ear infections in a standard poodle, my groomer suggested dr giri as the best. he is. he was professional and correct. he made it clear that doing more drops and such would not fix the problem, that the dog needed a surgical procedure to resolve the problem. the dog is now wonderful and painfree and has been fine for over 2 years now. other vets just kept doing the same thing... drops and more drops. switch to different ear drops and cleaners and try again. over 6 months of other vets treating him (both rated A on this site) but neither of them had a real solution and the dog was clearly in pain. giri has a very compassionate staff and they practice real customer service. a long drive from the city and worth it."

"Everytime I go there, the staff is kind and interested in my cat. The doctors even called me at home a
couple of times. I thought for sure the cat would die, but 9 months later, she is fat and happy, thanks to the good education and caring of this vet."

"Excellent!!!!! Dr. Homison is so sweet and gentle with our bunnies. She saw us on our most recent visit, but Dr. has seen us MANY times as well. Both are wonderful. They are caring, thorough, kind, knowledgeable (it's difficult to find anyone who will treat bunnies, and even more difficult to find someone who knows what they are doing -- we have had bad experiences with other vets giving us inaccurate diagnoses, bad advice about diet, treating the buns roughly, etc.) In this particular instance, Dr. Homison gently handled and spoke to our bunny in a calming voice. Her exam was very thorough. She identified the eye infection, and prescribed medication. She provided instruction and demonstration regarding how to apply the medication, as well as what to look for to be sure the medication was working and when we should begin to see improvement, and instructed us to come back if the medication didn't work. She was timely, but also spent as much time as necessary with us to be sure she thoroughly examined our little girl, and to be sure we were comfortable with the plan of care. We have been going to NPV since 2001, and we feel truly blessed to have found them. The entire staff goes above and beyond to take care of us. Dr. has literally brought one of our bunnies back from the brink of death, providing him with kind, round-the-clock care. I can't say enough about the care we have rec'd. there. We only have experience with Drs. and Homison, as they are the only ones who see rabbits in the practice, however, we have had the to see the other vets in the practice their clients and the various pets as they come in, and everyone seems to provide personalized care. The vet techs always make a fuss over the animals as they come in, and the animals usually don't even seem to mind being there -- the dogs way their tails and get excited to see both the vets and the techs. I haven't seen this at other vets. Most dogs with their tails between their legs. Our bunnies are all over 10 at this point, and we truly believe that the thorough care that we have rec'd at NPV has helped them live this long. One of our bunnies has had numerous health problems. We truly believe we would have lost him a long time ago had it not been for the wonderful care and instruction we have rec'd from NPV. We can't say enough about them. We are so grateful for everything that they have done for us, and continue to do for us."

"We recently moved to the area and had taken our dog to this practice once for a minor, routine procedure. That was fine. She liked the doctor and the assistant. They recommended we get her teeth cleaned -- it was time for her annual cleaning, we always schedule it in December -- and when we picked our dog up, the bill was $350. Our vet in our old city (out of state) charged $113 for the same procedure. No one had let us know how much the cleaning would cost. We were shocked. They refunded $50 of the cost when we asked about it and apologized for not telling us about the price of the procedure beforehand, and the fact that they routinely do bloodwork and use an IV during surgery. I spoke afterward with the founder of the practice, Dr . I explained to him that we were surprised about the cost, and how much we had paid our previous vet. He suggested our prior vet used cheap and inferior anesthesia and had endangered the health of our dog. Then he asked us to fax him a copy of our previous vet's invoice because he was "curious." I found this conversation disturbing, and am switching vets."

"I found a tiny stray kitten and wanted to get it examined and tested before keeping it permanently. I called for an appointment and was able to take the kitten within an hour of my call. Everyone -- from the receptionist to assistants (sorry I didn't get their names!) to Dr. -- was helpful, pleasant, and kind. They treated the kitten with affection and professionalism and made us both feel like valued new members of the "family." "
