"A friend recommended Dr.
to us, so I was very optimistic. Instead we found her to be incredibly
and rude and, after several bad experiences," decided to discontinue using her services. She has no sense of how to talk to people, no sensitivity filter and will say amazingly inconsiderate and inappropriate things. I could easily live with that if the care for my beloved dogs was good, but it wasn't. She really offered nothing of benefit for my 8 year old dog with hemangiosarcoma, and on more than one occasion, had me so upset when she left that it took me talking with my regular vet to recover. She was downright pushy about insisting on frequent appointments (at a very substantial cost, of course), and her prices were very high, with many charges and add-on costs being surprises. When my much loved boy had to be euthanized, we were all pretty much traumatized by the whole experience. She poked my boy a number of times in his legs, rooting the needle around, unable to get a
for a catheter. She then gave him a shot in his abdomen, and we waited. That didn't work, so she had to give him a second shot in the abdomen - this all took several torturous minutes. All three of us present were sickened by the whole process. I've been with a number of my dogs as they were euthanized, and this was by far the worst experience of them all. She was
than usual at that appt, though, which was appreciated. When we received a sympathy card a few days later, it was lovely except that she expressed her condolences on the loss of the wrong dog. Seriously?! If she can't even keep straight which of my dogs she personally euthanized and which one is still under her care, how can I trust her treatment? While she seemed very knowledgable about some things, she explained things poorly, was argumentative if we asked any questions or for clarification, and made a lot of mistakes. All rather ironic considering that she routinely talked down 'regular' vets as being inadequate. Her poor communication skills, the terrible euthanasia experience, her very high prices and lack of consideration for our feelings or circumstances left us unwilling to use her for anything else. As we now have 2 terminally ill senior dogs again (one Dr.
treated for a few months and a newly diagnosed dog), we will return to our regular vet for care that is FAR superior to anything we ever received from this place. When I mentioned my experience to several friends, I discovered several others who had had similarly awful stories about Dr.
. I wish I had asked around before we hired her and I would not recommend her to anyone.

"On 6/21/14, I brought my new dog, Wilee, to
Animal Hospital for a wellness exam, parasite test, and a heart worm test.
examined him," and pronounced him a healthy dog. She recommended several vaccinations, despite the fact that he'd had all the necessary vaccinations when we adopted him from the Humane Society a few days before this office visit. I asked to get all her recommendations in writing, along with the associated costs, and she agreed to do so. After the exam, a tech came in, and asked to take Wilee to do the blood draw for the heartworm test. I wanted to go with him, but she gave me an incoherent excuse and didn't allow me to do so. I reluctantly let her take him, which was a big mistake. When checking out, my bill was $275, instead of the $118.18 quoted to me over the phone. Instead of giving me her recommendations in writing, along with the costs, she had given him 2 vaccinations (shots) without my permission: Leptospirosis vaccine and
vax (as well as vaccination pills I hadn't asked for). She had not told me the prices or informed me of the risks, before doing this. Wilee seemed shaken up and traumatized when he was brought back out to the waiting room, and I suspect that he was mistreated while getting the shots. About an hour later, Wilee was extremely sick (diarrhea, lethargic, barely able to walk, non-responsive), and he has not been the same since these vaccinations. He'd been neutered only a few days before, and he should not have been vaccinated so soon after surgery. Also, administering two vaccinations on the same day was more toxins than most dogs can safely tolerate. If
does not know this, she should not be working with animals. Upon doing research on the vaccinations my dog received, I learned that over vaccinating animals is damaging their health, resulting in higher profits for vaccine manufacturers, and insuring repeat business for vets. The Leptospirosis vaccine is especially dangerous and ineffective. I would have never allowed it for my dog. Unfortunately, in cannot be undone now. Here are just a couple of the articles I read (written by impartial veterinarians - ones not selling products and services). If you are considering this vaccine for your dog, I hope you will also do some research, in order to make an informed decision. http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/leptospirosis-vaccine/ http://www.2ndchance.info/leptospirosis.htm http://www.2ndchance.info/onesize4all.htm Additionally, this company's compensation structure ensures that every recommendation the vets make is a conflict of interest, because the more they bill, the more money they make. When I was in the waiting room at
, I met a crying woman, whose 14 year old dog was dying of heart failure. She also told me about her financial hardships, due to the astronomical
bills. Then, I heard the tech telling her that Dr.
recommends $295 worth of x-rays! As if her emergency visit bill wasn't already high enough. Even with no medical background, I know that a dog dying of heart failure will not benefit from x-rays. The woman knew her dog would have to be put down, but she was very emotional, and consented to the x-rays. Clearly
is preying on people's emotions and ignorance to pad their bills. When I spoke with
, the Regional Medical Director for
. I told her that
damaged my dog's health by administering dangerous and harmful vaccines, without my informed consent, resulting in much suffering and turmoil for my dog and my family, and her proposed "resolution" was to give me refund for the vaccinations ($54.77)! When I said I want a refund for the entire bill, she sent me a "release of liability" form, which would have prevented me (in addition to making any further claims around this issue) from leaving negative reviews like this one! Please boycott
(
works at both Pittsburgh facilities). Voting with our dollars is the only way to send a clear message that will be noticed.

"Everyone here is fantastic. We have had our dog there a few times, for his annual exam and shots along with one time when he was sick. They always take him right away and treat him" like he is their own dog. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Angie's Answers

?

Hi

The first answer is pretty thorough but I would like to add a few points.

First.. the type of food you are feeding your dog may be the key.  If you are using a food that is grain, rice or corn based in the first three ingredients, please change to a food that is meat or chicken based.  Many dogs are allergic to grain, rice, wheat and corn and these things are used as primary ingredients in many well known, name brand dog foods.  Secondly, all treats that have these ingredients should be cut out.  It takes weeks to months before a food change can show results so you must be patient.  Jumping from one food to another will be counter-productive.

Some dogs are so allergic to flea or other insect bites that one or two bites can cause a severe reaction.  Once the itching/scratching cycle begins, it is hard to stop it.  Benadryl is good but I suggest liquid form.  You can get it inexpensively at one of the dollar stores.  The pills take time to break down in the digestive system so you get better and faster results with the liquid. One tsp= 5cc and most dogs of average size can tolerate that much and more if the dog is a larger breed.

Allergy testing is very expensive and most dogs will test positive to some things.  That does not mean that the itching is coming from those things as many things in the environment can trigger positive test results.  Breaking the cycle of itching is primary and that can be done with prednisone ( short term and last resort after benadryl and bathing), allergy shots( same deal, last resort after easier methods).   This spring and summer have been particularly hard, weather-wise.

Good luck!

After you search for the company, you should get the "no results" page. Scroll down just a little bit, and you'll see a button and a link that say "Add this provider." Click on that to add them to the List! Thanks for the great question.
?
I'm really sorry! It looks like we made some site changes I hadn't noticed before and it made things just a little more confusing (for me, too!). We'll have to look into this to make it easier.
In the meantime, here's what you do:
1) Look for the Submit a Report button. It's yellow and on the right-hand side of the page.
2) Search for the animal cancer care clinic you're looking for. The search box should be inside a yellow bar.
3) You should see a list of potential matches, but on top of those, there should be "add a provider to the List" text in blue, which is where you'll click to get to the add page.

Let me know if you have any trouble. Sorry, again, for this being so confusing.

The first time I met Dr.
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
was when I had my 16-year-old Persian put to sleep about 10 years ago. My cat was very sick, and always hated to get in a car, so I found Dr.
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
who came to my home to euthanize my cat in a comfortable environment. Needless to say, it was an incredibly difficult, depressing time to be meeting a
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
for the first time. Nevertheless, Dr.
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
was extremely sensitive to the occasion, and performed the procedure with great care and tenderness.
Since then, I've acquired three cats, and have continued to use Dr.
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
over the last 10 years. The convenience of having a
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
come to your home can't be overstated, especially with cats.
He's always friendly, knowledgeable, and is genuinely concerned for the animals. I wouldn't use anyone else.

Dr.
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
was so great. Very caring of our dog and so nice. She apologized for being a little late but she had seven emergency walk-ins and welcomed them all. And still had time to meet me and my wife and our dog and give him special attention. Truly a special person and can't recommend her enough.

Their behavior was totally unprofessional. The assistant wanted to take my dog for herself because he was "so cute" -- that he was, he was a beautiful American Eskimo who was my companion for over six years. I loved him deeply and would never consider "giving away" a sick dog. All I wanted is for him to have peace. The
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
told me if I wanted to do that I'd have to "sign the dog over to her" -- I was shocked! It was a horrific experience. I wrote to them outlining the experience and my extreme disappointment in their lack of professionalism. After two weeks
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
from their office called me and profusely apologized, assuring me that new protocols and policies were in effect now and that this would never happen again. She was, I admit, very kind and understanding. Yet that evening of December 18 was one of the worst experiences of my life. There is much more detail to this story, but for the sake of brevity, I have condensed it.

Dr.
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
saw us as soon as we arrived and signed in. Checked all of our animals. Made sure to answer all of our questions. Gave appropriate vaccinations. Gave recommendations about pet care for each animal. When we were finished we payed at the front desk and got an easy to read print out of our visit that day and a receipt. Dr.

Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked

As anyone who has ever had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to a loved pet will know, it is a painful experience. From my first call to Dr.

Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
-- was very patient with me as I tried to give the necessary details. She called me back promptly once we decided on a date for the procedure.
Dr.
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
arrived on time and was so compassionate with me as he examined
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and explained what he saw from a
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
's perspective, confirming that my old boy's quality of life was not going to get better and he was experiencing a lot of discomfort. Dr.
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
took the time to let me talk, and then explained step by step what was going to happen. When the procedure was over, he gave me some time in private to say goodbye to
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
-- I thought that was such a generous gesture.
I am giving all these details because I think it's so important for anyone reading this and having to make this decision that they know they can trust
Pittsburgh Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
to handle this sad time in the best way possible for owners as well as pets.
