Reviews for Pittsburgh Skylight Installers

"Unlike several other roofers from Angie's List whom we contacted, EAS didn't flinch at the skylight and chimney repairs. All work was performed satisfactorily. The gutter still has a small leak but is at a corner junction that EAS said is prone to leaks. A week after the new skylight was put in place, the outer pane cracked. We again paid for the replacement glass and EAS returned to re-install it at no charge. we've had no further problems.
When we initially contacted EAS, Mr.
was prompt in looking at the job and giving a verbal quote. We never received a written quote, as requested, but EAS did the work for less than the original quote.

The large skylight in our rear addition had been leaking whenever there was a heavy rain since it was installed 19 years ago. There had been myriad attempts to address the issue by other contractors over the years, but to no avail. We had decided to fix the leak once and for all this year and were prepared to completely replace the skylight. Our experience with
Home Improvements was terrific.
came out to see what needed to be done within a week after we first called. We asked them to also prepare an estimate for the porch roof and gutters and if they could do the work, to fix any rotten wood on the exterior of our house. The estimate arrived by mail within a week or so and was very reasonable. We called to tell
that we wanted to hire them, they sent out a contract right away, we signed the contract immediately, and the work was scheduled to begin in a few weeks. In the contract, it specified that we would pay 1/3 of the payment when Mr.
called us to schedule the work and the second 1/3 after the first day's work. I was a little nervous about this, but our instincts were that it would be okay, that the
seemed to be people of integrity with considerable experience. The job went very, very well. Roofers are often a rough bunch, and in our city neighborhood the houses are close together; if there is a loud radio or profanity, not only the homeowners but also the neighbors are exposed to it. We were impressed that all the workers from
were respectful, did not smoke at all while on our property, and did not play a radio, let alone a loud radio, while they were working. However, a week after our new flashing around our old skylight was installed (
showed me the old flashing which had nail holes and was rusted out) along with our new gutters and roofs, there was a heavy rain late one afternoon, and the skylight leaked. I immediately called Mr.
, and he and
arrived early the next morning to see what that problem was.
climbed on our addition roof with a hose and sprayed water at different
until the skylight leaked again. Apparently before we bought the house the siding had been installed incorrectly, and if it rained hard from a certain direction, the water was funneled into the corner of the skylight. The second half of the work was done quickly by
, and afterwards (tempting the Devil!) he stood on the addition roof with the hose spraying strong jets of water on the siding and the roof trying to make the skylight leak. It has been a month, no leaks so far, and we do not expect that it will leak. If it does, however, we feel strongly that
Home Improvements will fix the problem. Our main roof will need to be replaced within the next few years, and
's Home Improvements will be the first contractor we call for an estimate.

Pittsburgh Skylight Installers Reviews

rescued us from an over-extended contractor. He had the necessary social skills to deal with a touchy situation. He explained what needed to be done & how he would do it. He even helped us solve some related problems when the original contractor left the job. He & his assistant installed the units promptly & efficiently cleaning up after completion. He has been kind enough to return several time when we felt technologically challenged."
"We had a crack in our skylight. It was not leaking yet, but we wanted to fix it before it did.

was extremely responsive and professional. He called me back immediately and made a time to come out quickly. He worked us into his schedule even before he thought he could. He was such a pleasure to work with and I wish that ever service provider could follow his lead and treat their customers this well!! Highly recommend!!!.

"He was prompt, courteous, came when he said he'd come, clearly took pride in a job well done. After he'd installed the skylights he said there was a flaw in one of them....a smudge of some sort that for the life of me I couldn't see. He insisted on contacting the manufacturer to get a replacement. He's since been back with the representative of the manufacturer to show him the "smudge" and we're now waiting to see if the manufacturer will replace the skylight. Again, it looks absolutely fine to me, but
Pittsburgh Skylight Installers Provider Name Locked
is clearly a perfectionist. I'm so appreciative of that. Also, all the men who work for him are wonderful. They did some handyman work in the house as well and went above and beyond. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

's prices are very good, and he guarantees the skylights against leaking for the life of the roof. But he does not have an eye for inside detail. If you can have someone else do the inside work (the drywall, painting, etc), I would recommend that; otherwise, be prepared for ceiling paint that doesn't match the surrounding ceiling paint, seams to show through unevenly textured surfaces, and the like. Also, be sure to get tarps and put them down in the rooms where you have the work being done, if there is anything that you want to save in there. He is not very conscientious about bringing tarps with him, and attics tend to have all kinds of dust and dirt that will cover everything in sight. Also, be sure that you are both very clear on the price and exactly what work will be done beforehand to ensure that there is no miscommunication. I would use him again because, while certainly not perfect, the results don't look bad, and I can't afford to spend three times as much."
"I was satisfied with the work they did for us. The crew was professional and worked hard to complete the job in the time they promised. They made sure to clean up after themselves and were polite the entire time."
"Previous companies had insisted I had to pay them several thousand dollars for complete new gutters. Mr.
Pittsburgh Skylight Installers Provider Name Locked
came to inspect what needed to be done, he sent me a very reasonable estimate. He came as soon as weather permitted to repair the gutters, filled in the squirrel entrance/exit hole to my attic, covered the air vent on the other side to stop the skinny ones getting in, replaced missing pieces to a downspout and waterproofed my skylights. He told me that they were the wrong type of skylights for a roof (from the previous owner), but that he could stop them leaking."
"The old skylights were a mess (looked to have been "home-made" by prior homeowner & were leaking badly). We worried that replacement would be very costly. One estimate we got was for over $4000 to replace just two of the four skylights. We needed this work done quickly, as we are in the process of doing other home renovations.
Pittsburgh Skylight Installers Provider Name Locked
was able to start right away and finish the work in one day. He and his crew were friendly and efficient. They cleaned up after themselves and left everything in great shape. Other than coming home to four new skylights, we would've never known they were there. The new skylights look wonderful and we were so pleased to be able to have this work done at a price we could afford! The original estimate was for $1575. Because of the nature of the prior units, once they were removed,
Pittsburgh Skylight Installers Provider Name Locked
realized that he needed to purchase larger skylights than he had previously thought, so it ended up costing $200 more, for total of $1775. Still a bargain!
"Work was done promptly and effectively. Time will tell since the air and water leaks occur only under extreme conditions that occur during winter storms. Estimates for replacing skylights were sent promptly but not accepted at this point because of high cost."
