"Couldn't be happier with the work that SSA did in setting up a home security system at my new house. I'd gotten quotes from two other national companies, however the monthly subscription quote that I got from SSA beat those guys by almost $10 a month for the exact same system. The thing I liked most about SSA is that they have a local office here in Pittsburgh. The other companies I spoke with would have shipped me the equipment and it would have been up to me to install this myself. While this isn't a very complicated installation, it definitely makes sense to have a professional do it. SSA was able to get out and do this installation within 3 business days. The tech showed me how to work the system and he was on his way. It was a very smooth process and my wife and I absolutely love the system. Being able to work this system using our iPhones is a huge plus. It's very user friendly and gives us the peace of mine we were looking for. Another bonus that I recently found out about is that SSA also has a pretty impressive referral program, where I can get some serious money knocked off of my monthly subscription for referring a friend.

"Excellent every step of the way. We actually purchased a Guardian system and cancelled it to go with SSA. They are local and care about their customers. we've had two circumstances when our alarm went off and emergency staff came promptly and we received a call from an SSA rep. No complaints, even after 2 years.

"Just bought a house and needed an alarm system. Other companies require a phone line, but I'm a wireless-only guy. That's how I found

-- a self-install, cellular alarm system.
I ordered a special through Angie's List (5 window/door sensors, motion sensor, control panel, smoke/heat detector, keychain FOB) and so far I'm very happy with it. I've also recommended it to several friends.
The box arrived the next day and the sensors were a piece of cake to install. Just peel off the sticky tape and stick to the surface. All in all, it took me about 10 minutes.
Another great thing is the instructions they include. This isn't a 50 page manual -- it's short and to the point brochure-style instructions, complete with pictures and just the information you need to know. It was really easy to follow and pretty fool proof.
Calling to activate the system was also a good experience -- the representative took his time explaining things to me and answered any questions I had.
So far, a very happy customer!

was our Security Consultant. The initial appointment went well.
Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
did a great job outlining the security system capabilities and various features. He was very clear (and respectful) about the differences between his company and his competitors.
Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
was very fair and thoughtful in saying that his competitors were good companies; he tried to focus only on areas where he felt there was a difference.

Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
was very thorough in designing a whole-house system to meet our needs. There was a snafu in the installation date - where the scheduling department put our installation date on the wrong day and kept us waiting for an entire day before we realized the mixup. Our understanding was that
Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
provided the correct day, however, the scheduler somehow mixed it up . Not a huge deal but it was frustrating to
Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
an entire day and then have to wait another week for the install.

The following week the unit was installed and initially worked as designed - with a few exceptions. The voice-link service (which cost an extra $5/month) was not working. Luckily an accidental alarm trip helped us to discover the voice-link system/service was defective. Once we brought it to their attention the company's customer service department was very professional and quick to respond in setting up an appointment to have a Technician repair the system. The problem ended up being a settings issue within the unit. We are also having problems with one of the Zones so they are coming back out to fix that.

Outside of the system issues I mentioned I think the flexibility of this security system, and the Web-based & Phone Applications are best-in-class. I find this to be a very customizable and user friendly security system; and one that I would recommend.

One area I am not 100% sold on is the true benefit of the voice-link system. Even after fixing the problem I mentioned above, I find the delay in the call-back response time to be longer then the system without voice-link. That means we are paying more per month for a longer response. Granted the call-back response time is not huge, but certainly longer than quoted in the brochure. All that said, while I would recommend the security system, I am not ready to recommend the upgraded version that has the voice-link feature. I will update this review if more experience with the voice-link system changes my mind.

"Company was called to submit an estimate for installation of a "wireless" security system. Salesman, when he arrived at our home was too familiar and commented several times on how "well I had done for myself"...I did not know this person. He informed me that even if we wanted a wireless system we still needed a land line. I asked about whether Comcast would work with his system and he stated I needed to ask Comcast. I did when ordering a land line I didn't want and they stated that they worked with all

. Salesman also stated that his techs like Verizon. I told him we were using Comcast. Tech came out on 12/7/2011 to install system. I was not informed that system would take 6 - 8 hours to install. Tech stated he can usually do it quicker but since we were using Comcast it took longer. He also made inappropriate remarks about my looks. Non-professional behavior by both salesman and tech. They would not have talked to my husband this way. Tech did not leave sign for yard and left a horrible mess of spliced wires coming from my Comcast Modem. I called the company on Friday, 12/9/2011 to complain about the sign and the wires. Also told the person (

) about wanting a wireless system but why did I need a land line??
Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
was not happy about the loss of a wireless install and wanted to re-install a totally wireless system for the same price. I declined as I am not comfortable getting something for nothing. I told him just to fix the wires and install my sign. I also ask him not to send
Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
the tech who installed and he told me that
Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
was fired. Yikes!!! Information, me, as a customer didn't need to know. A new appointment was set up for Thursday, 12/15/2011. It was scheduled for 830. 930 rolls around and no tech. Got a call from the office saying an unscheduled meeting was called and that the tech "was on his way". 1030 rolls around and I get a call from the tech saying he was getting his car inspected and it was taking longer than he had expected and he should have took a company vehicle. I attempted to call back the company to cancel the appointment but the phones were out of order. I called the number for reporting false alarms and it was out of order. I called the tech back on his cell phone and he totally blew me off when I told him that the phones were out of order. In other words he treated me like I was a child and didn't know what I was talking about. I cancelled the appointment for a later date. I had already wasted more than two hours waiting for them to fix something they should not have needed to fix. I got home and cancelled the service. Talked with the President and explained what was going on and he stated that he just was informed about the phones being out and I told him that if his tech had listened to what I had to say about the phones he would have know about it a lot sooner. I just wanted this company out of my life and their equipment out of my new home. I found out from the tech that took out the equipment that the tech that was the problem had a drinking problem and that is why they fired him. Why did this company think this was ok to send this jerk into my home? Or into anyone's home???

"Purchased $99 special from one of Angie's Big Deals. Needed additional equipment and spoke with a customer service rep,
Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
, who was very helpful. Equipment arrived in a timely manner and was relatively easy to install. After installation, I contacted the company to initiate system. Again, customer service was prompt and informative, walking me through how to use the system and patiently answering the questions that I had. I would not hesitate to recommend them to my friends."

"Had an antique security system and salesman was good about helping me redefine what was essential, especially important since we have an active and large dog and were not interested in bells and whistles. The installer was pleasant, prompt, efficient and clean. In retrospect, I wonder if I may have paid a bit much, especially since we were able to take advantage of some of the old hard-wiring (less labor involved), but I can't help but think I got what I paid for: no slimy handling of "the little woman", no pre-pay with the credit card over the phone before they even visit the site, and no promises of an estimate without receiving one online or through snail mail. Follow-up was good after the installation."

"I arranged over the internet to have Protect American send me a kit to hook my house up to their monitoring network alarm system. They sent it out with signature requested deliver through Fedex. When Fedex was in our neighborhood my wife and I were at work-we kept on writing on the delivery slip that was left on our door times we were at home and I called Fedex to make other arrangements-my wife even took off to wait for the package but it never came. I called
Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
to let them know the problems we were having but they said that they could not help. The system was sent back, I tried to cancel the contract and asked that my account be credited the 19.95-the company only returned my call after the fourth time and after I had left a detailed message on their audix. The other calls the person said that they would have a manager get back to me-the manager never called. I left my work number and home phone number. When the company finally called back they said that I was lucky that they did not charge my credit card for a restocking fee $79.90. I would never deal with this company again and you must be very careful with ordering anything off the internet. Make sure you read the entire contract especially the rules on canceling an agreement.

"I wanted a security system that had two main characteristics. First, I wanted a system that utilized a cellular network rather then an existing pots line. Second, I wanted a wireless sensor system. We have a 50 year old house and didn't want to run wires all over the house.
Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
provided me with a solution that accomplished both my requirements and more. You should know that this is a do-it-yourself installation. They provide you with great documentation when you receive your system. Additionally, you can call and speak with someone about the installation procedure for any sensor. I found the installation to be straightforward and
Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
to perform.
Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
offers recessed sensors for doors which requires some drilling. With the exception of the recessed door sensors, the remaining sensors were installed in less than an hour.
Pittsburgh Home Security Companies Provider Name Locked
offers a wide variety of sensors for your home. They can be found at their website. The monitoring for the solution is very reasonable. It definitely beats their competitors prices by about 6 dollars a month. One of the items I really like is that the system can be accessed remotely using the Internet. The system can be armed or disarmed as required from any Internet connection. I have on occasion changed the state of the system using my blackberry without issue. Overall, the system was easy to use and had all of the features that I needed. We have had the system in place for about three weeks now with no issues. I accidentally set off the alarm the other day and they called as expected. This seems to be a low cost solution for those individuals that can perform the installation.
