Glass Block Installation Reviews in Pittsburgh

Everything was great. Service was fast and friendly, the quality of the work was excellent, and the price was reasonable.
- Jeffrey H.

The installers arrived basically on time and went directly to work. Removed the four windows from the one room and then replaced them with the glass block windows. While the one installer laid the block the second fellow removed the windows from the second room. All the demolition waste was removed. As the installer finished a window the second fellow would follow up and finish the outside of the window installation. The installation went smoothly and fairly quickly. They cleaned up well but there was dust. Even though they swept the floors there was dust that couldn't be picked up without a vacuum or a mop. Would recommend to the customer to cover or remove items from the room being worked on.

We were very pleased with the work that

He was very professional, showed up on time and cleaned up after himself.

They came and were supposed to change out the glass blocks and lentils on a certain day. They called and asked to come earlier. I was on my way to work so I told them fine, you can come over. They showed up and the guy started cutting out the lentils. I'm looking around and they don't even have the glass block. I asked him where it was as they would only be doing half of the job. He is already doing it. There is dirt and debris coming into my house because they didn't cover anything. He changes the lentils. When he was finished, I said wait a second, there's a gap between the window and brick. I said what are you going to do to prevent water or anything from coming into my house between now and three weeks from now when he would come. He said he was going to put in insulation. I told him that was not okay. He asked me then what I would like. The day they were to put the glass blocks in, there was a huge storm. I had water pouring into my house. Now, I have all of this damage in my house due to the storm and because their insulation idea didn't work. They finally do show up two weeks after that storm. I was told they were supposed to do the bay window and glass block at the same time so it was done in one day. There's only one crew that shows up to do the bay window. The installer took the molding off the window to do some measurements. He said there's something wrong with the measurements and he called his supervisor. The supervisor came and told me that the measurements are fine. I wanted to talk to the owner at that point. The owner called me and assured me there was nothing wrong with the measurements and that I would be satisfied with the work. I got the authorization from the owner that all would be well. As they start to take out the bay window, they start adding all of this lumber to my window. He brings out the bay window that they are putting in and it is a LOT smaller than my original window. Mind you, I had this bay window custom-made. I'm asking him questions about it. The installer is telling me these are questions I really don't want to answer. He was hiding all of the mistakes by adding the lumber. When they put the bay window in, there were big holes above the window between the window and the brick on my house. He told me he was going to put flashing up there and he did, but it's 8 inches big. This thing looks horrible. Then on the inside of the house, you can see that there's six inches of height that's wrong and 3 inches in width. I had a few other companies come out to take a look at this job. They were appalled by what they saw and told me there's only supposed to be 3/4 of an inch difference at all. They couldn't put the molding that comes with the window on it due to the 3 and 6 inch gaps. He is trying to tape up the molding. I told him that the job should've stopped when the installer took the measurements and said they were incorrect. He just kept saying, these are questions I would prefer not to answer.

I noticed there was a crack in the bay window that they installed. They said they could bring in another one. The installer finished up so there would be no rain, snow, etc coming in. They came in the next day to do the glass block. When they were breaking out the glass blocks, they didn't put anything on my asphalt driveway. I have large holes in my driveway from where the glass blocks came flying out and landed on my asphalt driveway. Whenever we put in your glass block, we're going to caulk them in. In the contract, it states that all of the joints above and all around are to be mortared. The way it was installed originally. He said oh, no this is a new way we do it to prevent the glass block from breaking. They put in the glass blocks crooked, scratched, with the caulk.

Again, I had other companies come in and look. The first thing they asked was if this company checked for lead in the house. They are still supposed to check, give me the booklet on it and have me sign it.

One of the installers was chewing

while working and he spit all over my driveway and some places on my brick. I need to get a power washer to completely remove these stains. This just irritated me to no end, no respect.

was very good to work with. He came to look at the job within a day or two of my initial call. We had a casement window in our master bath shower which was installed in 2004. Having a window that opens to the outdoors in a shower sounds like a great idea until we figured out that, over the years, the crank mechanism was completely destroyed by rust from the moisture in the shower.

removed the old window and replaced it with a very pretty glass block window that looks better than what we had originally. He also found out that we had carpenter ants while he was tearing out the old window, so he dealt with those as best he could (and we have of course since dealt with the issue also). We thought the service was very good, the quality of the work is excellent, the final product looks great, and the price was reasonable.

The owner (
Pittsburgh Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
) contacted me and was eager to come look at the windows to give me an estimate as soon as he could. I wasn't available that day, but he was willing to look at the windows from the outside to give me an estimate. This was a misconception on my part, but
Pittsburgh Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
does not schedule the job ahead of time, but rather will contact you when he or his subs are available to perform the work. I did not wait more than a few weeks so it was a non-issue, just something to be aware of when contracting with him.
His sub-contractor called me a few days before with a time window of when he'd show up, and was prompt on the scheduled day. He did an excellent job on the four windows and cleaned up the area when he was finished. I would definitely contract with
Pittsburgh Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
again if I had any more glass block installations, and wouldn't hesitate to contact them for other types of windows either.
