"Please do not waste any time or effort working with this company.

A. into a contract to have our kitchen, some windows, and a sliding glass door completed for us by Premier Kitchen and Bath /
, Inc. We had asked him to come meet us for an estimate and, somehow, he left with a signed contract even though he wouldn't give me the kitchen cabinet color scheme I wanted, never showed us anything in reference to the type/brand windows we were buying, and had only provided us a large total cost - no breakdown whatsoever. Our fault, I understand that. However,
definitely knew he was taking advantage of two people who were feeling in over their heads with a renovation turned gut job - and he ran with it. First off, we never heard anything for an entire month or so after signing the contract. We had never been presented with any kitchen designs and not a word was mentioned about the windows. After months of no progress on our kitchen, we asked to at least get the windows ordered. He broke out another large lump sum and, yet again, we signed the "addendum" to our original contract without knowing what in the world we were even paying for. After weeks of waiting, the windows were finally getting installed on August 4th. As we were still living out of state, my father (not a handyman) let the workers in and stayed the entire time reading a newspaper on the deck. However, the installers left their boxes/debris all over the house. They installed a sliding glass door without a screen and with a scratched handle, one of our crank windows did not even have a handle, the other crank window handle was scratched, one window had zero insulation installed (I could see daylight) and was not framed in fully or symmetrically. Not to mention, the same brand new unframed window had a caulking stain inside the window sill from where the installer apparently had placed his cup full of caulking and dripped it all over the interior of the window. Once we arrived at the house a few days after installation, we immediately notified
of all of these items. On August 13th we sent pictures text messages of each and every item we were unsatisfied with.
responded saying he would take care of it - even personally come out and clean the caulking stain from the window sill. However,
then proceeded to illegally charge our credit card for the remaining balance (minus $300) of the window addendum WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION from my husband or myself! He had the card number because we used it for our previous down payment. Needless to say, we were furious and we made him well aware of our unhappiness. That’s when we got the runaround for TWELVE weeks. We had a service person come to the house in September with only two items on his work order. The rest of the issues just sat waiting to get resolved. I would call or text
every week stating we still hadn’t gotten the issues completed with our install. Still, we waited. I eventually filed a Better Business Bureau complaint. My last resort to try to get the incomplete job finished. That’s when true company ethics came out.
(and Premier Kitchen and Bath) lied again and again to the BBB to make themselves look good. As I mentioned, I sent a picture message of the CAULKING stain located on the interior sill of the newly installed window.
responded to the BBB stating we told him there was a COFFEE stain on the inner sill of the window. Completely laughable.
also told the BBB that he told us we could “hold” $300 from the remaining balance due. However, $300 just happened to be the amount of the balance that he left remaining after illegally charging our credit card without the authorization of either my husband or myself. We actually called our bank and had the card number cancelled/changed because of the ordeal. VERY disconcerning knowing that a company is willing to just illegally charge a credit card for thousands of dollars without the authorization of the cardholder. Again,
told another lie to BBB that, when the service call was made to our home in September, some missing material kept the service from being completed. However, the person making the service call showed me his work order as I told him about all the items that he had not addressed. He pointed to the work order and said he only had two items listed.
never told the manufacturer’s service person to do any of the other work. And, in written text conversation with
in October, when asking why it was over two and a half months past installation and my window was still not completed (we could still see daylight!),
responded that he only ever told the manufacturer’s service person to come out and complete the issues at our home. However, he also stated that the manufacturer only handles issues such as “broken handles, screen not shipped with the windows, etc.” Therefore, the manufacturer’s service person was never actually going to fix the unframed window! After having to explain to
that he is the contractor we hired to get our job done and that he is ultimately held responsible, he then said that he had just texted the original window installer,
, to contact us.
, we come to find out, is the person who fixes issues other than missing pieces and parts – the person
should have contacted back in August when we notified
of all the issues with the window installation. I waited another week before
came out.
mentioned in his BBB response that a service technician was scheduled to have our service issues completed by October 30, 2014. Again, another lie. I texted
on October 28th notifying him I still had not heard from
. However, I did talk to
that same day.
mentioned he was busy for the next couple days and could not come to our home until October 31st, not “by October 30th” as
noted in his BBB response. Luckily,
did come to our home on the 31st and completed the remaining unfinished items. Sadly,
mentioned multiple times that he was unaware of any issues with the installation or else he would have come out within a week or so after installation.
mentioned he is the person who takes care of such issues, not the manufacturer. So, why
never just asked
, his own employee, to come back and just fix our issues? Beyond me. Although, if you ask
, it’s always someone else’s fault. Via text on October 23rd, he blamed my husband by saying he told
not to have
came back to our house. Yet another sad lie... ridiculous. don't waste your money!

First off, we never heard anything for an entire month or so after signing the contract. We had never been presented with any kitchen designs and not a word was mentioned about the windows. We asked for progress and finally got kitchen designs that were completely off the wall. NOTHING we had asked for. Long story short,
believes he spent over 100 man hours looking for the right color cabinets that I had requested (the color that took me 2.2 seconds to find after walking into Home Depot). After months of no progress on our kitchen, we asked to at least get the windows ordered. He broke out another large lump sum and, yet again, we signed the "addendum" to our original contract without knowing what in the world we were even paying for. While waiting for the windows,
told my husband and I that we should "try" to find the kitchen we wanted somewhere else because he just could not find what I wanted, after, as he claimed, he spent over 100 hours solely dedicated to looking for the right color/style for us. Of that effort, I received about 10 text messages with color options. That's it.
provided us a bill for the work that had been completed in the kitchen to date. We had some pot lights put in and, to bring the electrical/plumbing spacing up to code,
notified us that a wall needed to be brought out four inches. Basically, put a structure of 2x4s against the existing wall and, viola, up to code. We waited and waited for this work to get done – again, over a month. We could not hang drywall until
got the work completed. We had to postpone our kitchen drywall hanging twice because the structure had not yet been constructed. We were quoted, in writing, via email, that the wall should take no more than 4-5 hours to complete. The material for the job included, at maximum, 12 2x4s (available at Home Depot on 8/1/2014 for $4.35 each – a total of $52.20 plus tax for 12). However, the price we were charged after receiving our “detailed” invoice – of, again, just one number for the wall, was $728. Round up to $100 for material… that still leaves $628 in labor?! We walked into Home Depot, had our kitchen ordered within days, and installed within weeks. I will never work with Premier Kitchen and Bath again and will never recommend them to anyone else. To the contrary, I highly recommend finding a company that can communicate effectively and that does not hide behind large lump sum numbers. Renovating anything, especially a kitchen, should be an exciting and encouraging experience. That was definitely not the case with Premier Kitchen and Bath. Please don't waste your hard earned money on them!

"The quality of work is first rate. If you think you, as a layperson, can do plaster work on par with professionals – you’re just wrong. These guys are great. The finish" is smooth, the edges clean, and NO DUST in my house. We had some bumps with scheduling. They had someone with a collapsed roof and they had to pull our guys to do that. Since our job was cosmetic, I think that is totally acceptable. They also asked for photos ahead of time so they could assess what the job would take in terms of worker hours. Some notes when working with this provider: 1. We did the $99 for three hours, but it is three worker hours. If you have 2 plasterers, that means 1.5 hours, or 3 plasterers for one hour. Some people do not understand that it is three worker hours, not three hours with all the workers needed. 2. Make sure you give them the correct address. For some reason Angie’s List gave them my work address, which was unfair to them. They went to the wrong site and it wasn't their fault. 3. Make sure you communicate with the owner about total cost before you start. And make sure you agree on a start date. So, even though there were some bumps in the process, these guys still deserve an A because of the quality of work and the responsiveness of the owner.

?

Hello - I hope my answer will help point you in the right direction.

The reason you're having a hard time getting clear information is because there are hundreds of companies saying their window is the best. There are probably millions of different features you can choose to have for your windows and in price ranges from $169-$1200 (per double-hung window).

I've been in the business for 15 years and have seen many different window products from many different dealers and manufacturers. This all comes down to: "what's important for you and your home?" If you want a strong warranty from a company who has a full-time service department to give you piece of mind and service your windows should needs be, or are you looking at only those companies who offer true wood interior windows that you can paint or stain to match the home decor? Whatever is your hot-button, then that's where you want to start.

I would recommend you first choose how you want your new windows to look. Wood-interior with vinyl clad is only offered by certain companies, while there is a vinyl woodgrain finish to give you similar results without the maintenance. If you're only looking for a white interior and don't want the maintenance, a fiberglass or vinyl window would be the best choice from what is offered in the market today (vinyl will be less expensive - not necessarily cheaper quality). If you are going to change out a window to a french door and a door to a window, then you WILL NEED to find a contractor with some carpentry experience. Some companies will tell you upfront that they do not handle those sorts of remodeling projects due to the complexity and time it would take to get it complete.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to personally help you with your project as we work in the New England Area. However, if you wish to talk further, please feel free to email me at: sven@ritewindow.com and I'll be happy to let you know our prices for what we offer so you can compare and hopefully find a similar company to do the work for you near the Austin area.

Cheers!

Get your roofer back out there.  Course of shingles above the window need to be pulled, self sealing flashing, drip caps, and counter and step flashing are going to be required here.

This is a flashing issue as the window connects to the mansard roof surface.

Condensation and a leak are two different and very noticeably different (i.e. volume) things.

Flashing and roofing on Mansards can be tricky but is sounds very much like a roofing issue.

?

+1

Much easier to scratch and typically not as good a finished quality as compared to glass.

Benefits are the resistance to breakage as mentioned by LCD.  Any glazing shop should be able to re-create that panel.

?

For a broken window (or leaking seal in multi-pane unit), for a standard roughly 2x3 foot window, can run from low of about $75-125 for single pane to more like $200-300 range for triple pane, depending on construction and any special ultraviolet or heat reflective coatings. If a removeable window unit, of course cheaper to remove it and take to replacement glass place then have them come out, measure glass size, order glass unit, then come back to install.

If taking in yourself, commonly they can do single-pane in an hour or two, but count on a week or so typically for sealed double or triple pane unit to come in, so you will have to seal the opening in the interim. That is an advantage of having them come out - they measure and determine type of unit on first visit and can seal with tape and plastic sheeting (if you have not already done that), then come back with new unit and install a week or two down the road - but you are not stuck with an opening in the wall for a long time.

1 wall and prepped other walls. Skim coated walls where needed and removed kitchen floor. Came back on Sat and Sunday
to go over small areas that were skim coated to make sure the were drying properly and recoated if needed. Iinstalled floor
all baseboard and trim as needed. Painted the next 2 days and completed the job on schedule.

We are very pleased with the result. It is a beautiful bathroom. The company will be coming back once the countertop is installed to finish the vanity installation and associated plumbing.

The bathroom in question was probably 50+ years old in a house that is 100+ years old. Of the different contractors that bid for our project,
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
gave us the best impression in terms of his understanding of our project and the suggestions he had. He made himself available to discuss the project in some detail, which included a phone call to Europe while we were on vacation.

The project started on time and did take longer than we had anticipated (4 weeks instead of 2 weeks). This was partly due to the unexpected work required once the demolition was complete and some additional items we requested. Furthermore, the relatively small size of the bathroom meant that it was hard to have more than 1 or 2 workers at any one time. Finally, the contractors did travel from outside Pittsburgh which meant they would typically arrive at ~8.45am and leave at ~3.45pm. This made it difficult to touch base every morning to review progress.
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
was however available on the phone to discuss any concerns we had. Overall, we were pleased with the quality of the sub-contractors selected by
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
.

Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
is attentive to his customers needs. As with any remodeling project, there are several ways of doing the work.
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
was very good at listening to us and making his sub-contractors do what we wanted. There were a couple of requests that he pushed back on which in the end were of secondary importance.

Here are some of the best features of the bathroom : finishing of the walls, baseboard and trim that match style of the house, tile work.

We are looking forward to working with

install crew removed old windows and sills. Removed sills by pounding on the top of them to split them in half. As a result, they created holes in the plaster that needed to be patched. Much of the holes were covered by the new wood sill and apron. One worker was constantly tripping up and down our steps. He put the screens in the windows before installing the sashes. In doing so, he ripped one of the screens. After the picture window was installed, I noticed a large crack (split) in the sill. After the installers left, I noticed a scratch in one of the window panes. I called my salesman and he referred me to their installation service manager,

Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
was very apologetic and scheduled a service call.
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
replaced the sill and filled the holes in the plaster, but did not have the new window pane or screen yet. In addition, he found another screen that was damaged. He placed an order for the other screen.
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
scheduled another service call with a different rep, who arrived with the screens and window pane.
The window pane came mounted in a wooden frame and the frame assembly would have been replaced, except the frame had

all around it. The service rep said he could not in good conscience replace that window pane, so another one was ordered. It is due to arrive in December. In the mean time, it has gotten pretty cold and windy and we have noticed that the wind seems to blow through the junction where the window frame meets the sill on all three windows. I called
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
to report this and they added it to the service call due for December. They said "the rep will look at it." I'm not too hopeful.
In summary: very expensive windows that would have been worth it had they been installed correctly. I am very disappointed with this whole project and will probably not use

12/2/2014: Service tech arrived with replacement for the scratched pane. He removed the apron under the window sills. Found and corrected leak under the living room window. Found that there was no insulation behind and underneath the window sills in both upstairs windows. Situation corrected. Both rooms immediately feeling warmer. I give
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
an A+ for standing behind their products and customer support, but still have to maintain the D grade for this project because it should have been done right the first time. Will reconsider
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
for the next batch of windows in a year or 2.

The whole experience was pleasant from the start. All team members are friendly and courteous. Scheduled an appointment for
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
to come to house to give estimate. We were very impressed with his knowledge and his commitment to carrying on the business that his parents created. We signed contract and 1 week later the owner
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
Schmotzer and one of his installers came to look over the windows. At this time they noticed that all of the wood trim around the original windows would need completely removed and taken down to the frame and replaced with all new wood trim. The bow window would need completely built from scratch. This discovery increased the estimate, which was disappointing, but we understood the reasoning and trusted that
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
knew what to do to get the job done right. It took about 6 weeks for windows to come in for installation. The installation crew arrived promptly around 9 in the morning. They were all professional and courteous. They laid down plastic on the floors and covered all furniture. All old windows were removed. There was one crew to work exclusively on the bow window and another for the rest of the windows. They finished the job at about 4 in the afternoon. All of the old windows and wood were hauled away in their truck and not one scrap was left behind. The fiberglass windows look beautiful and are such good quality. One of the crew explained and demonstrated how to operate the windows. We are very happy with how easy they are to operate and clean. We would definitely recommend
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
Company and plan on using them again in the future to install new windows on the back of the house as well as new sliding door.

I'm very pleased with everything from start to finish. This was my first major project as a first time home buyer. The first thing my mother said when she walked into the house was I have to get new windows and boy was she right. The old ones were the original windows at 60+ years old. They let the cold and hot air through and all manner of bugs. Not only that but the noise from outside was just the same as having the windows open. I live off a heavily trafficked road where truckers like to blast the
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
break. Now that I have new windows in I have no problems with bugs, hot or cold air coming through, and the noise pollution is significantly reduced.
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
was the first to come to the house to give me my first estimate (I got two others). He took his time to walk through the house with me, measure, and explain the process of installing the new windows. He showed me what my actual window would look like. The glass is very thick, especially compared to
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
who came in a little higher. I much prefer how the
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
windows operate compared to the
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
windows.
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
didn't mind that I was to have others come in and give me estimates. Didn't pressure me to make the sale or sign any paperwork.
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
wasn't like that, and the other guy was there for five minutes and didn't measure a thing or count the windows. Not sure how I got an accurate estimate out of that one. But if you have someone come in and not pressure you to sign paperwork or get upset that you're getting other estimates, that's who you need to go with. Metro is very confident in the
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
line and their services. They have every right to be. After I made my decision to go with Metro,
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
came in and did the final measurements. He was very flexible with time and came later in the evening. He explained more of how the process would work and what the guys would be doing when they got here. I think I was told eight weeks to installation and it was only six. The guys showed up when they said they would, cleaned up great, and only took two days with two crews to install all the windows.
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
came in a couple of days later to install the storm doors which he also did a great job on. The windows look great. I originally did not intend to put new ones in the attached garage because I do not live it the garage but after seeing the new windows I decided to go ahead. They're being installed this week. The installation time has been much quicker than expected which is fine with me. I'd like to get everything done before winter hits. I'll never need new windows in this house again, but if I sell this house and move elsewhere and that house needs new windows or doors, I will definitely be going with Metro. No the price isn't low but if you want cheap then go with vinyl. You get what you pay for. Quality and service.

The installer showed up on time, very professional and friendly, and it took him less than 3 hours to remove our old door and opener, and install new rails, door, opener and accessories. We had hired
Pittsburgh Door Installers Provider Name Locked
several times before and he always does a wonderful job. He responds quickly to the initial inquiry, arrives when he says he will and gets the job done very efficiently. He even does a follow-up call a week later to make sure we are still pleased with the work he did. We have recommended him to family members who have also been pleased with his work.
