Communication and organization between workers regarding the design could be improved. It helps to have a binder of the estimates, drawings of the design, and details on the fixtures and materials on-hand. It also helped to answer questions and adjust design when needed while the work was in progress. The project did extend past the initial estimated end date, but we were in no rush. We are extremely happy with the quality of work performed and the offer to return to fix any issues that we notice after they completed.

I found when I rennovated my kitchen just over 2 years ago. He charged me only for the labor as I had all the materials purchased and available prior to his arrival. He placed
When I started to consider a bathroom remodel it made perfect sense to go with someone I had used in the past and who I trusted and who I knew used the right products and did things the right way. (i.e. no shortcuts).
I proceeded to start the demo on 3/7/14. I sent him an e-mail on 3/10/14 saying that I would have everything ready for him to go (i.e. bathroom ready and material at the house) by 3/13 and that if he could get started 3/13 and 3/14 that would be great. He mentioned he was not availble that day and so I suggested 3/17 and 3/18 as start days but he was "closing on a property' so couldn't do that either. So on 3/17 I sent him an email with the following dates of availability:
>Mon 3/17/14: All day
>Tues 3/18/14: All day
>Wed 3/19/14: Morning only
>Thurs 3/20/14: Could make all day work but only if we have enough of a head's up (like finalizing today); and the emphasis here is that I might be able to make this day work; not sure yet.
>Fri 3/21/14: All day
>Sat 3/22/14: Morning only
>Sun 3/23/14: All day
>Mon 3/24/14: All day
>Tues 3/25/14: Morning only
>Fri 3/28/14: All day
>Sat 3/29/14: All day
on 3/17/14 later in the evening his exact response via e-mail was:
"Sorry for geting back to you so late, it has been one ofthose days. This week looks to be very crasy. All of the dates for next week will work for me. I may be able to get in to start over the weekend but I will need to see how my week plays out. I can let you know in a day or so about the weekend."
Since i had worked with him before and knew he did quality work and was going to do so at a reasonable price I continued to tolerate this as he kept pushing me back. For him to start on 3/24 that would mean that my bathroom was ready for the tile and finishing work for nearly 2 weeks before he would get started.
I then proceed to call him on 3/19, 3/20 and 3/21 and left voicemails. He did return the call on 3/19 and said he would need to get back to me about the weekend of 3/22 and 3/23 but that he could defintely start on 3/24.
THat was the last I heard from him. My last message that I left was 3/22 and I simply asked him that if he was planning on working my place on 3/24 that I would need him to call me by 5pm that day otherwise I was going to find a different person to complete the work.
I have no issues with contractors who are so busy with other jobs that they don't have time for my job. I also realize that my job was likely a relatively small job and that other larger jobs are more improtant for his company's bottom line. I just don't appreciate being lied to and strung along. I included details with the dates and the quotes from the e-mails just to provide proof of my struggles. The Open and honest communication i had come to know with
I did initially tell him I wasn't in a hurry to complete the project, which was true . . . until I had a bathroom ripped apart. When he said he had a relatively open schedule I started the demo. I hafve been without our main bathroom for about 3 weeks now and it has been almost 2 weeks since it has been ready to be tiled. THat is when I grew impatient and demanded action.
I called a differtent person on 3/22. He came that day for an estimate and started 3/24. Look for his review (Travoto Construction and Remodeling) upon completion of the work . . . whcih should be no later than 3/ 27/14.
