Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Inspection Reviews

"Ever since my truck started going there, the problems haven't stopped. In the past two months one thing has
Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Inspection Provider Name Locked
to another. I feel like if I had taken it to the nissan dealer in the first place I would not be into these guys for over 2500 dollars and still have had to tow my vehicle to the nissan dealer to fix what they haven' been able to fix, including a knock sensor that it turns out wasn't the problem in the first place. These guys can change oil but they don't seem to be thinkers so if you need window washing fluid go for it. If you have a problem go elsewhere!
#1 they replaced parts without asking me then charging didn't that practice go away like 20 years ago.
#2 They cant seem to communicate very well. (see number 1) I asked to replace one squeky belt and they changed all of them didnt tell me until I saw the bill. (they didn't say why they did just that they did, at least lie to me tell me they are all about to blow up).
#2 They don't ask questions...if you go to a doctor and say your knee hurts he doesnt just replace the whole darn thing. ie Why would you ask for a full truck check up when an 80k is the standard, but we didn't do anything except change the oil...Oh but while we have the engine apart we can change the spark plugs. What kind of sense does that make....
#4 don't check their own work, I had to drive back because of the work they did, left a heat shield dangling and clanging, I noticed it within a minute of driving. They didn't notice it or just lazy?
#5 I cant seem to get my car back within at least three days, they don't call usually until about 3pm to see if its ok to do work or order a part, most places seem to get this accomplished by 10 am when they have the car before 7 am.
#6 they charged me to fill up my windshield washer fluid (wihtout asking) and had the
Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Inspection Provider Name Locked
to say they were thinking about me (and then charged me 3 bucks didn't tell me) I just paid you 1500 bucks and your going to nickle and dime me for 3 bucks...Ill give you ten to go do something useful!
"We have been taking our cars to
Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Inspection Provider Name Locked
for six years now and have never had a complaint. They provide friendly, honest service, are always willing to answer you questions and endeavor to save you money wherever they can. For example, this past June, we brought my Mazda 5 and my Wife's Pontiac Grand Prix in for inspection. Both cars were getting up in age. To pass inspection, my Mazda needed new breaks and a new tie rod. My wife's car needed some minor repairs but also had some serious rust problems on the underside of the car. Before they repaired anything on her car, they phoned me to let me know about her car's problems, specifically the rust issue. They said that the minor repairs would run about $400-$500, but the biggest problem was the rust. They could not fix it, but suggested a couple of body shops that they work with. They advised us, however, that the cost of repairing the rust would run about $2000. Rather than recommend that we fix the rust and other problems, they suggested that we consider getting a new car, which we did. Their recommendation meant that they did not get the $400-$500 for the small repairs and, having a new car with a warranty, they have one less car to work on for the foreseeable future. We love
Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Inspection Provider Name Locked
and will continue to take our other car there and will certainly return with the new car once the warranty runs out.
"A+ service provider. Easy to talk to. Explains issues in a way you can understand. Regarding the brake replacement, the serviceman even saved my old brakes to show me that they were low. Excellent customer service. I will be returning to this automotive shop for future services. It was great to find a "down-home" shop that you can trust being so close to the city. Thank you!!!
"We have used them for 20 years and now my children use them for their cars. They are exceptional people; they truly care about doing the best work on our cars. It is family owned and operated. I continue to use them even though we have moved away from Mt. Lebanon.
"We always take mine, my husbands, and now my entire extended families vehicles here. They are a great family run business that do great work and treat you fairly. If I ever have to move away from Pittsburgh I will miss being able to have them as my mechanic!"
"This was a 10 year old car that I had owned for one year. It showed no signs of major rust at the time of purchase. After a
Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Inspection Provider Name Locked
winter, the right rocker panel was showing significant rust, and if left untouched, would have doomed my car after another winter, as had happened to my previous car.
I sent the car to
Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Inspection Provider Name Locked
's to get work done in order to pass inspection. They were unable to locate a panel from usual factory and junkyard sources for my not very common small SUV.
Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Inspection Provider Name Locked
told me he would figure out what to do. It took almost a month, but he eventually found someone to fabricate a part. Then
Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Inspection Provider Name Locked
's crew installed it and painted it, such that after two years, I can't tell that it was patched.
When I finally got the car back, I found out that the seat belts on the passenger side were not working, likely clogged with sand used during the repair work. It took another day to have those installed, and when I paid the bill, they gave a discount since I was without the car so long.
"I've been happy with
Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Inspection Provider Name Locked
's for nearly a quarter century. They are consistent in quality, price, and professionalism.
They have never steered me wrong or advised me that I need work done that I didnt.
I would highly recommend Kernicks!"
"Not good. Unless you live in
Pittsburgh Motor Vehicle Inspection Provider Name Locked
or nearby, it is not convenient to get there, the work estimates for time duration were poor, and the work was just ok. Overall unimpressed and we will not go back."
"The service is amazing they deal with all of the insurance claim issues quickly. They also rent cars on th spot so there is no hassle of trying to find a place to rent. If they do not have cars available they set you up with a discounted rate from Enterprise who will pick you up. They kept me informed often on the progress with the insurance as well as the work on the car. The car was done when they said it would be and it looked brand new.

I have gone there for all of my auto repair needs since that time. This includes routine maintence and inspections.
They are a family owned business who is always involved with helping to improve the community also.

I highly recommend them!!
"I have taken my 2 cars there for oil changes. Both use 5W30 oil, according to manufacturer specs. Each time the printout says 10W30 was used. When I asked for 5W30 last time, they said "Sure, ok," but the printout still said 10W30.

On the most recent trip, I got my car inspected. LIfetime said it needed front brakes. I had a family member do those repairs. Lifetime had screwed on the lug nuts so tightly, that removal by hand was impossible. (This is what you'd have to do if you tried to replace a flat tire yourself.) I had to take the car to another shop to get the lug nuts removed for about $70. When the brakes were replaced, and I took the car back to Lifetime, I asked that they not torque the lug nuts above 90 ft lbs. They said, "Sure, ok". I don't think they had to do more than a visual inspection, as they hadn't moved the car, so hopefully the lug nuts weren't disturbed. They get an "A" for friendliness, but I feel that they're more concerned with quantity than quality and that my questions and concerns aren't fully addressed."
