Basement Waterproofing Reviews in Pittsburgh

Over the last winter a large part of my basement floor had an upheaval and there are many cracks. There was also a little mold underneath a couple of windows. I called
because they advertise a free estimate and are highly rated on Angie's List. the person I spoke to on the phone was very pleasant and arranged for someone to come take a look the following week. They called to confirm the appointment the day before and said they would be there between 10Am and 11AM.
from the company arrived a little after 11 and was very helpful. After taking a good look at everything he gave me an rough estimate of the work to replace 2/3 of the floor and said he will send me a full estimate later today. What I MOST APPRECIATED was
's honesty about the fact that there was no real structural damage to worry about and all work would mainly be cosmetic. What I thought was an immediate need turned out to be something I can do on my own schedule. I have more pressing needs to take care of so this came as a big relief and I truly appreciate the honesty of this company's representative. You can be sure that when I do have the work done I will use this company to do the work. They don't use subcontractors and you get a true family feeling from everyone I dealt with.

We had a great experience with
and his crew from beginning to end. Getting an estimate was easy, with no sales pressure. We had a relatively short timeline in which we wanted to have the work done, and
managed to fit us into his schedule. On the day of the work, his crew was professional and efficient. They performed a very dirty job, but took great care to keep the area clean.

gave a very honest opinion. He told me exactly what to do and he said: "if this was my house, that's how I would do it". He also told me that it would be easy for him to sell his product to me, but he prefers giving an honest opinion and refer me to another company that helps me with my problem. He also gave me some advice and tips on negotiation and expectations !! It is very nice yet rare to meet such an honest person. Thank you

The work two years ago and now was done in a very professional manner. They are prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, polite, and competent. This year when we had them install the outside membrane, the regional representative for the membrane manufacturer gave them the wrong directions for installing it, i.e. to install it above and below ground. When we and they discovered this error, that it should only go underground, Keystone was very responsive and took responsibility for the error. They corrected it to more than our satisfaction. Great companies stand out in how they respond when something goes wrong---and this one was top notch. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them to you.

I recently purchased a building built circa 1920's. The basement had damp wet stains on the ground near some of the perimeter edges. I was afraid it may be a structural issue where a French drain might be needed or possibly worse.

suggested I try a dehumidifier first before jumping to any conclusions and was confident this might do the trick. He also gave me more advice on things I can do to help - like paint the walls with Drylock. I'm going to give these two suggestions a go and see what happens. I was impressed with his honesty.

We were very unhappy about how the estimating process went. They came and put on a hard sale, acting like the foundation was going to cave in if we didnt put the drain in soon. They said their schedule was really full and we should sign up for the service now to at least get on the schedule, and they we could cancel if we changed our mind. Well, they failed to state that we only had three days to cancel otherwise we would be locked in to the contract. The only way out after three days was to pay 20% of the estimate. Not knowing this we continued to shop around and got a lower quote from another basement company, but then we found out that we were locked in to Keystone. We feel that we were taken advantage of and had to pay more that we really needed to. Lesson learned, read all the fine print.
The only up side was the installers were very professional and did a teriffic job installing the drain and pump. They kept the disturbance to a minimum and cleaned up nicely afterward. They also did a real nice job finishing the concrete over the drain.
If the estimators were only as good as the installers it would have been a better experience.

At first, we were a bit skeptical when deciding to go with Keystone as our basement waterproofer. Their initial quote was much higher than any of the other providers we contacted. Also, they seemed a bit pushy on the sales side of things. We initially declined a commitment after the first guy showed up to give us an estimate. A few months after, they came back with a reduced quote. After giving a bit more of a discount, we took the bait. The final price was 30% less than they originally quoted. It still seems a bit high, but that might just be my buyers remorse nagging me.
The workers arrived promptly and were very professional and courteous. The work was completed on-time and it didn't seem like the noise or dirt was too bad. I'm no expert, but the quality of work seems good. It has been about 6 months since the work, and the french drain seems to do its job. We have not had any leaks yet, and have much enjoyed the increased usable floor space in our basement.
We did have an incidental problem with the job. We have a chest freezer in the basement that was originally plugged into an always-on outlet. However, one of the workers moved the plug to a switch-controlled outlet (used for basement lighting). We did not realize this until about 3 weeks after the job, so all of our food in the freezer spoiled. We reported this to Keystone, and they promptly apologized and sent us a check for $200 to replace the lost food. Their customer support is really on the ball.
The only other item I would bring up is that in the original quote/estimate, they proposed installing two cleanouts, one at each end of the french drain (since the sump pump is in the middle). The contract we signed only had one cleanout listed, and I didn't notice this until after the work was done. I don't know how we/they will be able to maintain the end without a cleanout, especially if it gets clogged at some point. I asked Keystone about it, and they stood by the signed contract, understandably. Some future work may be required, but we'll keep our fingers crossed and enjoy our new basement.
Thanks, Keystone!

I used this company in October 2012 and then again in

2013. I did not want to write an immediate review as a home improvement like this isn't something that can be judged quickly in my opinion. First off the company is professional in everything they do from start to finish. My water problem was fairly serious and the Giulio expressed surprise the walls weren't buckling due to the pressure exerted by all of the water. I explained what I was looking for and Giulio did not pressure me to have the system installed all the way around the house (had I known I would have had future problems I would have done that though). The appointment for installation was set a few weeks out; the day arrived and the crew was professional in all aspects even moving items in the garage I did not have time to rearrange. They were done in the 2 days they scheduled and took great car to make sure dust and debris were contained. Everything was fine until the water found another path into the basement along 2 walls that were not part of the original work. My first call was again to

and Giulio again came out and provided a writeup. This was also scheduled a few weeks out. The crew that was handling the install had this section wrapped up in a day and left me with a basement that now had an interior drain system that went along every part of the basement that was below grade.
My only minor complaint is that I am disappointed in the price for the second installment; it was more than half the cost of the first installation which included the sump pump, it's backup, and more linear feet of drainage to install. I was expecting a price $500-$1,000 less than what I paid given that no pump installation was needed and 15 less feet of drain was required. My biggest regret is not voicing this concern outside of immediate family and friends. However I wouldn't let that

me from using this company again if needed; I have had zero water problems since they completed the second installation and there have been some heavy rains/melting snow that tested this system. I can confidently say to any future buyer there are no water problems in the basement or garage. I am very pleased with

The work was scheduled to begin on Thursday, March 20 ;the crew showed up on time on that day and began work in the basement.. Bakers expected the job to take two days.
They pushed to get the job done on the second day so that they would not have to work on Saturday. In their haste they left clothing and equipment at my house. In addition, the outside work was not done properly and the hole in my basement wall that was made for an outside drain was not sealed.
It took almost a month for them to return and correct their work. I was in constant contact with the office, but it was not until I became angry and frustrated with Bakers that anything was done. The project manager had said they would send someone out when they were in my area; however he later told me that he was waiting for the crew leader to come on his own time so that the company would not have to pay for him to correct his errors. Basically, the project manager lied to me and put the company's needs above mine. They already had my money so I guess there was no rush in his mind.

became involved when I refused to deal with the project manager any longer. I explained the situation and he let me know that it had not been handled correctly by several members of his staff.
Not all jobs are done perfectly the first time; had there been any semblance of good customer service on their part I could have excused the rushed job - but there wasn't.
My basement has been dry since the work was done but unless changes have been made, I would not recommend using this company.
- Mary S.

The basement is still leaking. We provided the feedback that if was still leaking and the french drain did not help our issue, no one contacted us about the issues we are still having. Basically the installment of the french drains, upon recommendation from our consultant, were worthless and we will have to contact another company to do the work again this summer.
