Basement Waterproofing reviews in Pittsburgh
The only up side was the installers were very professional and did a teriffic job installing the drain and pump. They kept the disturbance to a minimum and cleaned up nicely afterward. They also did a real nice job finishing the concrete over the drain.
If the estimators were only as good as the installers it would have been a better experience.
The workers arrived promptly and were very professional and courteous. The work was completed on-time and it didn't seem like the noise or dirt was too bad. I'm no expert, but the quality of work seems good. It has been about 6 months since the work, and the french drain seems to do its job. We have not had any leaks yet, and have much enjoyed the increased usable floor space in our basement.
We did have an incidental problem with the job. We have a chest freezer in the basement that was originally plugged into an always-on outlet. However, one of the workers moved the plug to a switch-controlled outlet (used for basement lighting). We did not realize this until about 3 weeks after the job, so all of our food in the freezer spoiled. We reported this to Keystone, and they promptly apologized and sent us a check for $200 to replace the lost food. Their customer support is really on the ball.
The only other item I would bring up is that in the original quote/estimate, they proposed installing two cleanouts, one at each end of the french drain (since the sump pump is in the middle). The contract we signed only had one cleanout listed, and I didn't notice this until after the work was done. I don't know how we/they will be able to maintain the end without a cleanout, especially if it gets clogged at some point. I asked Keystone about it, and they stood by the signed contract, understandably. Some future work may be required, but we'll keep our fingers crossed and enjoy our new basement.
My only minor complaint is that I am disappointed in the price for the second installment; it was more than half the cost of the first installation which included the sump pump, it's backup, and more linear feet of drainage to install. I was expecting a price $500-$1,000 less than what I paid given that no pump installation was needed and 15 less feet of drain was required. My biggest regret is not voicing this concern outside of immediate family and friends. However I wouldn't let that
They pushed to get the job done on the second day so that they would not have to work on Saturday. In their haste they left clothing and equipment at my house. In addition, the outside work was not done properly and the hole in my basement wall that was made for an outside drain was not sealed.
It took almost a month for them to return and correct their work. I was in constant contact with the office, but it was not until I became angry and frustrated with Bakers that anything was done. The project manager had said they would send someone out when they were in my area; however he later told me that he was waiting for the crew leader to come on his own time so that the company would not have to pay for him to correct his errors. Basically, the project manager lied to me and put the company's needs above mine. They already had my money so I guess there was no rush in his mind.
Not all jobs are done perfectly the first time; had there been any semblance of good customer service on their part I could have excused the rushed job - but there wasn't.
My basement has been dry since the work was done but unless changes have been made, I would not recommend using this company.
I'm pleased to say that I HIGHLY recommend
