"The project went very well. First, I requested the estimate one year ago and then had to postpone the project. Mr.
kindly did the work in 2014 at the 2013 price." The crew was excellent.
was the project foreman. He could not have been more skilled and professional.
a team of eight men. All of them did an excellent job -
,
,
and
- a lot of back breaking work. The quality of the work was excellent. Incredibly careful excavation, working around water and electrical supply lines, preserving as much of a paver walkway as possible and even preserving a lilac bush that was within two feet of the excavation line.
the project like he was working on his own home. Communication with the team was very good. When problems arose, they contacted us immediately. The main problem was during the excavation the crew hit an area of solid rock that could not be removed.
alerted me to the problem. I discussed alternatives with Mr.
and Mr.
and they were able to modify the route for the drains to work around the problem. A second problem was in one area, a larger area needed to be excavated, creating a need for more gravel. Extra gravel was provided at cost. At each stage of the project,
walked around the property with me to make sure that things were back the way they should be. This was a big project. Two excavators moved through our property for two weeks. The lawn will need to be replaced. During the estimating process though, I was informed of what to expect and at the end of the project the property looked like what I expected. I am very pleased with how things went and would confidently recommend this company.

"I chose
because of their comprehensive approach to my problem of a crumbling foundation. On the whole, the job is done and and over, but there were a few problems." I thought the sump pump was to go in the garage, but it is in my laundry room. I did not catch error on the document they submitted for my permit, so that is on me. The crew worked hard for two weeks - nice guys. But the yard sustained much more damage than I thought it would. They had to dig a "
" around my house, but instead of removing the dirt as they dug, they let it sit on the lawn for the duration, without even a tarp to protect it: most of the lawn died. They left a lot of debris: brick, rocks, and gravel. The walls leaked in two spots after they completed, the job. The first time a few guys came to caulk, but it was insufficient. The crew chief came the second time and I have not seen any wet spots since. Would I recommend them? Hard to say. The job is done, and the house seems stable! I just wish they had been neater.

"
gave me a consultation on a water problem in a corner of my basement underneath a concrete porch. He was on time (showed up 15 minutes early actually). After" assessing the area he pointed out that the water was coming from above grade and therefore was something better addressed by concrete sealing and covering the porch with a roof or awning. Nevertheless he still spent a good 40 minutes answering many of my questions and offering to explain how interior basement waterproofing works, even showing me pictures and samples of the material they use for the underground pipe and wall spacer. I learned a great amount and was impressed with his knowledge, his detailed assessment of the water problem, and excellent customer service. I would definitely recommend this company!

Angie's Answers

?
Mold in a basement is a common problem. My company helps people with this every day. Some of the answers you received were helpful but not all the information is correct. First, you need to eliminate the two main ingrediants that mold needs to survive. The first one is water intrusion. This is a must. I am assuming you have no water intrusion as you make no mention. The second componant that needs to be eliminated is moisture. Moisture is also humidity. Basements need to be kept airtight in the summer months. Some folks have posted that you need air flow in your basement. Nothing could be furthur from the truth. When you open any windows for example, not one micron of air goes out of the basement, Warm humid air is sucked into the basement. Houses suck air into the basement and it meets the cool surfaces and skyrockets humidity. The windows must be kept closed and a dehumidification device installed to ensure humidity stays below 60% humidity. The dehumidifier should be energy star rated and purchasing a seperate humidity guage is a must to monitor the unit's progress. We like to keep our customer's basements at 50% humidity. This eliminates the smell that is active mold spore growth. Once the water and humidity is brought under control. Remove the organic materials that have mold on them. Walls, sheetrock and studs that have been affected. Follow the advice of previous posts as you must ensure that you do not affect the rest of the home. Once removed, install new walls using as much inorganic material as possible. We also install vapor barrier over the walls and seal the floors to stopwater vapor transmission into the basement. Poly plastic is not a acceptable vapor barrier. It is not "zero-perm" and will still allow moisture transmission. It will also crack and break into pieces over the years. A PVC liner rated "zero-perm" is the correct product in this application. Depending how large the basement is and if it is sectioned off will determine the dehumidifier strength. We use the Santa Fe line of dehidifiers as they are super energy efficiant and work like a dehumidifier on steriods. I hope this helps and I wish you the best in Basement Health!
?

Where is the home located, what is the exterior wall construction and type, how is the space heated?

It could be a whole host of different scenarios that would generate that result.  It is nearly impossible to tell but I would say that most basement moisture problems are a result of bulk moisture intrusion or condensation issues.

Given the deep and hard winter this year, it could be a condensation issue that hadn't previously been shown.

Basement Waterproofing reviews in Pittsburgh

Rating
This review is a little different in that I think the company did an excellent job with the inspection; however I failed to receive 90% of the services indicated in the deal. Further, the services I did receive are FREE as per their website. So I paid $199.00 for something that would be otherwise FREE.
To better explain, the only services I received are in BOLD, and the missing services are in left normal:
$199 for an in-depth foundation inspection, crawlspace inspection, home water leakage inspection, and drainage analysis used for creating a preventive water leakage plan Includes a diagram of your home with elevations of your foundation Comprehensive results and analysis of inspection, including current foundation and drainage conditions Complete correction plan offering an all-inclusive repair price Members receive a $500 credit toward necessary repairs with purchase of this deal
As can be seen, I failed to receive ANY of the services that that are not listed as FREE from the vendor. I am not sure if this is an issue between the vendor and Angie's list, or if the vendor failed to realize what they were suppose to provide but a refund is necessary.

Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
is a very high quality, professional business. They did a very good, very neat job and were courteous and professional. All work was completed in two full days. Getting this type of work done is a big expense and a very serious step in insuring the safety of the foundation of your home. I feel confident in the work that was done and would recommend them to anyone who has serious water problems in their basement/garage area.

We were pleased with Keystone. We called before the 4th of
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
holiday and were pleased that the salesman was willing to make a sales call on a holiday weekend (
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
5th).
We dealt with
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
, who was great: very straightforward, no hard sell, seemed very trustworthy and reliable. Even gave me his personal cell phone number and responded to every call or text. It took me 3 weeks to clear my basement for them (it's a crowded basement).
The lead installer called me the night before the scheduled job just to go over details. While I was not home for the job, my wife was and she reported that they were clean (very clean, wrapping up the contents of my basement in a giant plastic wrap) and professional. It is a heavy, messy job but they got it done in 3 days. This includes digging a trench, putting in a pipe and a sump pump, back filling with pebbles, then concreting over. We are talking thousands of pounds of materials going in and out of my home.
And my basement is DRY now. Dry as a bone, even in horrific downpours. Very pleased.
Only one tiny complaint: they left one back of trash and the cardboard box for the sump pump behind, which I had to put out with the trash/recycling. Nothing heavy, just a minor annoyance.

Had been getting water dripping down walls and on floor after significant rainfalls. Went with Bakers because of their reputation and they had done work for my brother a couple of years ago. Bakers scheduled
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
to inspect the garage and create the work order.
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
was very responsive to my numerous questions and we settled on the work to be done and the price. My only complaint with
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
is that he got my municipality wrong, which is significant because my municipality has much more stringent building permit and inspection policies.
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
said it was my responsibility to secure any required building permits and to schedule inspections. When I applied for the building permit, the code officer said that Bakers would know when to call for any required inspections. Fortunately, Bakers' building crew acknowledged this and scheduled the inspection at the proper time.
My contract required me to remove a wall-mounted furnace and
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
advised me to remove the wiring from the wall where the Cleanspace wall system would be installed.
My work dates were given to me shortly after the contract was accepted and the building crew arrived on time according to the scheduled start date. The job took 1 more day than anticipated. The work was done professionally and the foreman answered my questions satisfactorily as they arose. The work crew seemed to have trouble installing the Cleanspace wall system. There are a few bulges and wrinkles in it. I am concerned that the Cleanspace wall system
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
the underlying block walls and any problems that might develop in those walls. How would I know if those walls started to buckle? My other area of concern is the manner in which the outlet of the sump pump was tied in with a downspout. The diameter of the outlet pipe is considerably smaller than the diameter of the downspout pipe. The tie-in is an adapter in-line with the downspout pipe with an opening in it with the same diameter as the downspout pipe. This opening is very close to ground level. The sump pump outlet goes through this opening and terminates just past the boundary of the downspout pipe. When I asked about this, I was told that downspouts tend to freeze in the winter and if frozen, and the sump pump activates, its discharge would be able to escape via the large opening in the downspout pipe. I am concerned about soil, animals, and other debris getting into this opening and clogging the downspout.
Other than the two concerns with the work and my experience with the building permit, I am happy with the job. There have been several significant rainfalls since the work was completed and the garage has remained dry.

Over the last winter a large part of my basement floor had an upheaval and there are many cracks. There was also a little mold underneath a couple of windows. I called
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
because they advertise a free estimate and are highly rated on Angie's List. the person I spoke to on the phone was very pleasant and arranged for someone to come take a look the following week. They called to confirm the appointment the day before and said they would be there between 10Am and 11AM.
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
from the company arrived a little after 11 and was very helpful. After taking a good look at everything he gave me an rough estimate of the work to replace 2/3 of the floor and said he will send me a full estimate later today. What I MOST APPRECIATED was
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
's honesty about the fact that there was no real structural damage to worry about and all work would mainly be cosmetic. What I thought was an immediate need turned out to be something I can do on my own schedule. I have more pressing needs to take care of so this came as a big relief and I truly appreciate the honesty of this company's representative. You can be sure that when I do have the work done I will use this company to do the work. They don't use subcontractors and you get a true family feeling from everyone I dealt with.

We had a great experience with
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his crew from beginning to end. Getting an estimate was easy, with no sales pressure. We had a relatively short timeline in which we wanted to have the work done, and
Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
managed to fit us into his schedule. On the day of the work, his crew was professional and efficient. They performed a very dirty job, but took great care to keep the area clean.

Pittsburgh Waterproofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
gave a very honest opinion. He told me exactly what to do and he said: "if this was my house, that's how I would do it". He also told me that it would be easy for him to sell his product to me, but he prefers giving an honest opinion and refer me to another company that helps me with my problem. He also gave me some advice and tips on negotiation and expectations !! It is very nice yet rare to meet such an honest person. Thank you
