Appliance Repair Reviews in Pittsburgh

came to the house during the window of time that the office had given us. When I explained to him what was happening, he diagnosed the problem easily.
tested the igniter to make sure his diagnosis was correct. He offered to replace the igniter and detailed the costs for doing so. I agreed to the replacement and the job was done in less than one half hour.
was polite and professional at all times.

Had a refrigerator I intended to put in an apartment I was getting ready for my granddaughter and her husband, who are being honorably discharged from the U. S.
later this month. Freezer compartment was working fine, lower refrigerator seemed too warm. My wife was home this day and contacted
to check the appliance in question. Appliance Expert tech responded promptly, checked refrigerator, said it needed charged with Freon. Quoted my wife a price of $289.00 including the service call, to perform these repairs. The tech left to get Freon. My wife then contacted me at work for my input before she had the repairs in question done. Upon hearing the price quoted, my reaction was that $289.00 was about half the retail price of a comparable NEW refrigerator. Called HOME DEPOT to check price of comparably NEW Refrigerator, was quoted a retail purchase of $539.00. Since the tech was traveling from Murrysville to Plum (a distance approx. less than 10 miles) to spend approx. 30 min diagnosing the problem, and adding a minimal amount of Freon (a 35 lb. canister can be purchased for approx. $150.00 and 35 lbs. of Freon will charge a WHOLE BUNCH of refrigerators). I questioned how the travel, work and technical expertise to do the job could support such a price. The tech was polite enough, explained that the charge was a standard rate and referred me to the owner of the business (
, I believe) for further explanation. I called the number given and in about 15 min. I received a return call from
from a phone number listed in Sarasota Florida. Upon answering
's(?) return call, I questioned him in a direct manner as to how he could justify such a price for such a
job. At this point, the person speaking (
?) offered me an unsolicited lecture (rant?) on the difficulties a small business owner faced in today's
, citing insurance, cost of labor, advertising, etc.., etc.. etc.. I told him that I thought his quote amounted to price-gouging, in view of the situation that most people find themselves in when they call for a repair service of this type-a mother or caregiver with his/her back against the wall and a refrigerator full of food that is not working. Over such a barrel, they have no choice but to pay the piper. I also questioned
's complaint about the overhead involved in today's business environment, citing the fact the MAYTAG has overhead as well and they manage to manufacture a WHOLE NEW refrigerator that commonly retails for about $600.00, give or take.
then accused me of being a non-paying free-rider, the type of person who contributes to high costs by not paying for services rendered. I am more than happy to pay a FAIR PRICE for services, however I refuse to be held hostage to what I consider to be unfair pricing. I state for the record that I am willing to meet with
(?) by appointment, face-to-face the next time he finds himself in the area and pay for the service call that
provided.IN CASH.. Would've done so at the time of service, but his tech did had to leave to get Freon for the job before my wife could pay (I canceled further service and the tech did not return). You'd think as a matter of course a refrigerator service man would have a key element such as Freon in his truck and ready to use. SHOULDN'T THE COST OF REPAIR REFLECT THE ACTUAL WORK PERFORMED?.

called me back in very short order, and was able to see me the very same day. He diagnosed my Frigidaire dryer issue and told me exactly what part I was in need of. I told him I would be able to source the part on my own, and he was happy to provide the details to let me do so. Once the part was delivered, I gave him a call and he came in the afternoon the next day. He only charged me labor for installation. Highly recommend for anyone in the East End, very fast, responsive, and nice gentleman!!!

The front bar on the refrigerator had become hot to the touch because the fan wasn't working properly. He was so prompt and responsive...and helpful too as he showed me how to clean the coils (I had never known how to do it.
He saved me from having to replace it (which is great because the newer models look very cheaply made. I looked!)

on time. He took the dryer apart in a matter of a few minutes and found that it was the belt. Cleaned and shopped vac the dryer before he continued to fix it. He then oiled it and checked to see if anything else was wrong.with it. Everything was okay. Replaced belt and put everything together. The job was complete.. He was very good and knew his job well. I would highly recomend him.

was great. Responded quickly to my phone call (doesn't answer the phone while on jobs--very professional), came to my place within hours, diagnosed the problem shortly, and was able to replace the part with one he had on hand. The part was a little pricey, but I think that was GE, and not him; the trip charge was reasonable, especially given the quick response. Plus, he's a really nice guy. Will call again when we have another appliance problem.

has repaired my washer machines as long as I can remember - always courteous, price is right and instead of replacing parts - not only an expense but takes time to get the parts - he usually has a work around solution to save me money. In this instance, the spin cycle stopped because of a switch that was malfunctioning.

offered to either replace the part or disconnect the connection (the only function of this part was to stop the washer when you pick up the washer lid). I opted to remove the part - washer is as good as new!
