"This company is fantastic! To start, we had another company come out and fill the garage ceiling below our living room with cellulose, which they did improperly" (watch out folks, lots of terrible contractors out there!) and overfilled to the point of getting it into our hvac system. Once we noticed, I called
and he set us up with an appointment really quickly, as my wife was concerned as the weather was beginning to get cold and we wanted to use our heating. A tech came out and quickly and politely did the work. Showed us before and after pictures, which I saw him take (I hear some scammers out there use fake photos). So not only did this company do a FANTASTIC JOB, but they helped us recoup the expense from the terrible insulation company! Great service definitely!

"I bought a $49 Groupon deal. Having had my ducts cleaned years ago, I knew full well that it was going to cost a few hundred bucks despite the coupon. I called" to schedule in mid-October, and was told the next available appointment was mid-December. I took off work that day, and even called to confirm the appointment time. I was given a 2 hour window, and after no one showed up an hour and a half past the end of the window nor called to say they were running late, I called them. I was given no apology nor any indication of when they would be showing up. So I wasted an entire day sitting around. They told me I could reschedule - and the next appointment day would be mid-February. It kind of defeats the whole purpose of having your vents cleaned near the end of winter after you wanted them cleaned before the furnace started running for the season and blowing all the bad air around. I guess this was lost on this company. The good news is when I contacted Groupon about this, I fully expected them to say too bad. They issued me a refund. Which makes me believe plenty of people have had an issue with this company. I can't speak to the quality of their work, and I normally don't write bad reviews. But I expect a level of professionalism that was clearly lacking here. And when you waste my time, I don't care to give you my business. And this kind of stuff is precisely why we need Angies List. Thanks, Angie.

Air Duct Cleaning & Air Quality

The air you breathe indoors can become more polluted than outdoor air because it's trapped inside, allowing contaminants to accumulate. Many HVAC companies offer air duct cleaning services, but there's no scientific proof that air duct cleaning improves air quality.

Is Air Duct Cleaning Worth it?

Although there's no scientific evidence proving that air duct cleaning improves air quality, experts agree that there is value in the service.

Yes Jupiter. It depends on the severity of the situation, is the mold encapsulated in the insulation. If yes, than replace [insulation] it with new. Is it on the casing of the heater? If yes, clean it with a mold neutralizing metal cleaner. It's not a matter of finding something or someone to clean or address the existing mold. It's a matter of finding a contractor to rectify what is causing the mold grow. It's coming from excessive moisture in the air-handler unit. I can say with 100% surety you’re dealing with poor airflow and/or incorrect equipment sizing! Either issue will cause excessive icing of the evaporator coil, which leads to excessive condensate water in the system. The condensate will eventually overflow the drain pan leaving stagnant water in the air-handler housing, which leads to mold growth. I would not let any contractor do any kind of temporary repair, add any device like a UV light or air-cleaning product until the aforementioned is corrected. I talk a lot about this in my videos and on my website. It is the result of improper system design from unqualified contractors. There is a reason why some guys cost more than others, and this is one reason why!

If the ducts are venting through a window I'm assuming the duct work is all easily accessible.  Lowe's and Home Depot sell a cleaning kit that uses an electric drill to spin the brush as it goes through the ductwork.  I've found it to work quite well and you can do it yourself.  It may take a few passes the first time to get everything out if it has been a while since it was last cleaned.  Just make sure you get all of the loose lint out after running the brush through from both ends and you're good to go.  Please note that if the line is not hard but rather a flex duct line you can easily puncture a whole in it with this kit and will do better to clean it by hand.

There are varying opinions on the type of cleaning to have done on your air ducts.  My opinion is that it varies based on the type of duct work you have.  If you have solid material (typically metal) ducting you can have use a company that uses a brush to scrape the system clean.  If you have flexible plastic or foil ducts the solvent cleaners are generally a safer bet since the brushes often tear holes in the soft material and/or pull joints loose.  It really depends on what type on ducting you have.  You're ducts will collect all kinds of dirt, skin cells and allergens over time so if you see dicoloration around your vents it is probably time to get them checked and cleaned.

Also, don't stop at the duct work.  Don't forget your annual system check up by a licensed HVAC technician.  They'll make sure your system is running at peak performance, keeping it running efficiently and with as little impact as possible on your electric bill.  You can often save the cost of the annual tune up in the electricity cost saved.  If you have a natural gas system a bi-annual check and cleaning of the HVAC unit may be advisable to save electricity and gas.

if you have exhausted all of your choices I would call and put a complain in with the BBB then go to the DA and put a complain with them.  Then get a good lawyer and sue them for all you can get.

the answers in this on this page are all correct but you are using a bandaide to to cure the infection have a trust hvac tech open your system to see where the dust is coming from you more than likely have an impacted coil that need to acid wash to bring it back to oringinal anything left from the fire is still inbeded in that coil. just remember after that job to keep your filters clean change once a month in the summer and every two months in the winter.

They missed some things in the cleaning and did not clean up well, it was like they were rushing through the job. They did not get behind the sofa where there was a lot of cat dander. While they were packing up getting ready to leave, I had to ask them to look at some concerned areas where there was obvious stuff they missed. This service did cause some trouble in the A/C system that I was not prepared for; the debris from the pipe cleaner clogged up the unit and caused a leak.

I purchased a deal for furnace cleaning and tune up through Angie's List. I was surprised the company contacted me within 10 minutes of paying online to set up the appointment! The technician came on the scheduled day on time, he was very personable and explained everything in detail and also notated everything on the receipt. He explained a component wasn't testing properly and I chose to have it replaced now rather than wait for it to break. It was an additional fee within reason. I was very happy with everything about this deal from the initial contact to the prompt, courteous technician and detailed info of what was done. I would recommend this company first to anyone looking for furnace repair and/or service.

We bought a house that already had a furnace installed and later found out that the furnace had no fresh air intake. Which basically means the furnace was circulating the air from our basement into our living spaces. We felt this wasn't best for indoor air quality and requested a quote from

. The installer gave me a quote of $1,000 to perform that service. He told me that if that's the only thing I was going to get done, it was going to cost me more! I had already gotten a quote from another company earlier that same day for a little over $300. That's a huge difference! If I hadn't shopped around, these people would have ripped me off. I wonder how many other people they do that to.

The gentleman showed up on time... I also, just had my floors done, so he politely removed his shoes. He answered all my questions in regard to things he was doing; it was very informative. He also, showed me all the mess the was stored up in my system. He was very respectful and easy to talk to. I feel better now knowing I'm breathing in cleaner air.

Absolutely fabulous work done. Will continue to use them for my annual maintenance.

The techs showed up on time and quickly got to work. We had several other contractors in the home that day so it was a bit hectic but they remained professional and did the job in a timely manner. They did not suggest or try to upsell expensive unnecessary add on services.

The estimate was for 500, but with tax the actual cost came out to ~550. The crew was prompt and professional. While I went with ADM due to their advertisement of truck-mounted (adequately sized) vacuum pumps, I was a little disappointed by the actual vacuum that was induced in the ductwork when connected. Cleaning was mostly accomplished by the "push" part (using a compressed air gun) of the push/pull equation, as evident by the amount of dust found outside of the duct work (as nothing is perfectly sealed) in the basement and some parts of the house (which they did clean up though with a Shopvac). Overall, I'd do it again however.
Some tips: 1) Insist on getting the truck as close as possible to the building/main-
Pittsburgh Air Duct Cleaners Provider Name Locked
to maximize available suction. Pressure loss is linearly proportional to the length of hose used to connect the vacuum pump to the ducts, and the corrugated flex pipe further decreases that efficiency, so you'll want that length as short as possible. 2) Fully open up any dampers to remove additional constrictions. Even better, if you do have dampers in each branch, ask if they are willing to isolate each feed they are working on by closing all the others as they move between registers. 3) Have a set of new air filters available, so you can replace your old ones immediately after the cleaning.
