The office was not what I expected. It's in a strip mall and fairly unkempt and disorganized. The front desk was friendly enough. Dr
was friendly and extremely talkative. He gave me a physical exam (very, very quickly) and it seemed the exam was just to justify the fee. After that, we talked and I told him my needs and what meds I took, etc. He then sent me for blood tests.
The blood tests included over 17 tests and numerous vials to be taken. Dr
hadn't warned me and since I do not like to get blood drawn it was a negative experience. He should have explained how many vials would be needed. Also, he neglected to tell me I needed to fast before the tests, so I had to go twice. Very inconvenient. In addition, I had to do some urine test and send them away in the mail for results (?). It all seemed like overkill but I went along with it, even though my regular Dr. in Tucson never required all this to prescribe bioidentical hormones and help me feel better.
I made a follow-up appointment and things went downhill from there. The tech who met with me first took me to a room that was messy at best--empty fast food cups sitting around, etc. Also NO ONE wears a white coat or lab clothes. Everyone was in
and sweaters--even Dr
. Very odd. A little too casual.
I sat in Dr
's office and he sat down to talk to me about my test results when he abruptly got up and went to give a testosterone shot to another patient. He literally interrupted his time with me to do this. The shots are a cash business for him, so that is probably his first course of interest vs. prescribing. I know that sounds cynical, but it is true. He had tried to sell me on them during my first visit. When he did come back he did a LOT of talking, again, without really saying much or asking me much. I was tired of the whole mess and just requested the prescription. Obviously this wasn't going to be a place to meet my needs.
In the end, he prescribed some hormones which worked well for me and I got from a regular pharmacy, but I wouldn't go back. Messy office, too much talking; not enough listening or explaining and neglectful service plus having to pay up-front equals a sketchy situation.

She is very thorough and kind. The whole staff there is very gentle and kind. Sometimes you have to wait a little while after your appointment time but the availability, treatment, and bedside manner are great. I will continue to use her in the future.

Phoenix Obstetricians Provider Name Locked
is as good as can be (for going to the gynecologist...) I was a bit nervous to switch providers but the administrative staff got me in quickly and when I arrived, I received a pager that went off when it was time for my appointment. The nurse who checked me in was thorough and prompt. I had specific questions about medications for the doctor and she answered them all and even provided a referral for several primary care doctors in the area. Overall, A+++!

Dr.
Phoenix Obstetricians Provider Name Locked
is an excellent physician, you are not a number there. You may have to wait to get in but its because she takes time with her patients. You are never shorted with the time you get with her. She really listens to you.

I was told he hadn't looked at them and the representative "
Phoenix Obstetricians Provider Name Locked
?" even laughed at me when I asked when he would be reviewing them. I told her I didn't think my health issues were funny, and she went right on laughing. I had a hysterectomy at age 38 and haven't found a darn thing about it funny or hilarious. I told her this and hung up on her. I was livid. I could not believe her lack of empathy or customer service. No one called back to apologize. No one called me with my results. I called back today and they did return my call, but didn't leave a message on my phone with any advice. The only reason they called me is because I called them. They have had my results for approximately four weeks at this point. I have told them repeatedly it is solely my phone and that they can leave a detailed message. I work and don't have time for phone tag. I almost always have to leave a message, no matter what time I call. I haven't felt well and it is affecting my job. When I suggest an appointment, I am told it's not necessary. I feel as if they are telling me "don't bother the doctor."

Provided inconsistent test results on three different tests, then refused to see me in reasonable time period to recheck tests. Billed me for every test performed, even though errors in results were due to incorrect testing procedures. Very uncaring when delivering upsetting test results. Terrible bedside manner.

Experiences have ranged from good to mediocre. Over the last two years, the focus for the org seems to be more on the 'aesthetics' services vs. healthcare. You cannot reach a nurse by phone, you have to send an email "for documentation purposes" (and as of right now, i'm on day 5 of no response). I have waited months for blood work results (still don't have them actually). The aesthics services, photofacials, were ineffective on me, so wasted $325; but I'm sure others have better results. They're not bad people at all, very nice, etc.. just bit ineffecient and not all that focused on healthcare. I've had better service elsewhere and plan on finding another doctor. I need to be able to call and have a 2 minute call with a nurse every now and then to ask a question, etc. I moved here from Indiana, and this past week, I accidentally dialed my old doctor in Indiana, reached a nurse directly, had a quick discussion and she was ready to call in an Rx for me; then I realized I had dialed wrong. This experience finally made me realize that I need to find a new office that is more focused on the healthcare aspect than aesthetics. I understand the current insurance situations may warrant otherwise, but for me, I need a different environment.

The exam went well. JM is a good listener. The only problem that I am having is that I had some tests done on 12/21, and I am still waiting to hear back. If it was negative, I think someone could have told me that by now. I was told he had the results as of 12/29, but even though I leave a message each day, no one has returned my call. I was informed that the JM was in the office and should be getting back to me. I wish he would.

I feel happy every time I leave her office. If I had any problems, they were explained. If there are no easy answers, she is honest with me. She doesn't pretend that the medical profession knows every answer to every problem. If I needed any help, I was supported. She LISTENS to her patients! I feel relieved and/or more knowledgeable whenever I leave her office. And, I always leave her office wishing I could find more doctors just like her - and believe me, I have tried.
