Phoenix Home Builders Reviews

"I set an appointment the previous week to get an estimate on converting a carport to a garage. I chose them because of reviews and history. However, when I called to confirm appointment this morning there seemed to be confusion as to which salesperson was scheduled for me. I was told there would be a two-hour window (appointment was 12-2 p.m.) with a 30-minute call when they were coming out. I called to ask how come I hadn't received a call since I had to get back to work, she said both men were not answering their phones. Either the person answering the phone (

I am soured on their customer service and why would I expect anything different once a job was started. I suspect they will respond with some heartfelt excuse as to why they didn't call or show up for that matter. First impressions count and I will be giving my money to someone else.

"Horrible.
Still waiting for completion. They seem to have no desire to finish or work on consecutive days. Told multiple times that there were priority projects that were more important.

"I am very happy with the work, everything looks wonderful, and they did not leave a mess. When they were finished, all I had to do is put my furniture back. The patio looks great, and again I ha not mess to clean up. I will use them again for sure."

"At first I wasn't happy because you could see the cardboard sticking out in different places in the carport. The supervisor came out to inspect the final job for quality and he immediately saw the problem and redid the whole sealing again. It now looks great and I am happy with it. They were also kind enough to fix a small crack by my doorway without charging and I really appreicated it."

was responsive and detail-oriented from start to finish. His bid was also much lower than the other one we got, but lower cost did not mean lower quality. He took a great deal of time and care in inspecting the old deck and talking us through what he planned the first time he met with us. He submitted an estimate promptly and did not badger us, but was available every time we called with questions. We never got a voice mail; he always answered. He and his workers showed up on time and cleaned up thoroughly when they left. Best of all, when the lumber yard delivered stained and damaged decking material on the day the job began,

remained unflappable. Even though we had to wait a day for a new shipment of TimberTech from the warehouse, he was understanding. He even came over on the day the job was stopped to help the man from the warehouse unload 16 20-foot strips of decking, and he never added anything to the bill. Also, one joist cracked slightly when he installed it, and while he said that filler would take care of it, I really wanted it replaced. I told him he could add whatever he thought was fair to the bill for the extra lumber and labor, but he just said, "Let me look at it when we're done." He never asked for more money. I highly recommend

"They were very timely. They build all types of homes. The people I worked with were excellent; they would update us often on the house. We were able to walk through the home to see if we liked the work they were performing; they have fixed problems with no problem. They are very prompt on returning phone calls."

"Bought a spec home that was still under construction,95% done. There were 48 days until close. We went by every weekend filling out the builders forms of what was not to our liking so it could be addressed before our walkthrough. At walkthrough,(that we both took 1/2 the day off for)there were days of work to be done.We gave them another list of what needed to be done.We were assured they would be done by the closing date.We closed, went by the house to see that there was still work not done.We were told that we could take 3 of the 4 keys they would keep the other for the contractors. The next morning we get a call to let them in because we had signed for some of the keys, we were lied to, more time off work.We moved in, assured the rest of the work could be addressed at our 20 day warranty.Warranty work was scheduled, but not completed on the day we took off work for.Our rep had been let go and no one knew what was going on the day of the work.Who's in charge? When will this work be done?"

"Sales and color staff were incompetent. Several vendors no longer provided products to this builder during construction. We were forced to close on the house prior to the final walk-through and then learned that the house would not be completed for another four weeks. The builder repaid our lost interest. When we moved in the builder had forgotten to schedule the gas installation and we had no hot water/gas. The gas range was sitting on a box on the living room floor. Kitchen cabinets had to be rebuilt. The landscaping was not done per our written request. The wood flooring was badly installed with gaps. The house shows stress cracks interior and exterior from excessive settlement. A window stress fractured and the builder will not replace. TV/cable wiring was done improperly; wiring wasn't accurately labeled. The backwash system was set to go off in the middle of the night, waking us up. The drywall finish is terrible. Doors cannot be opened. Quality of workmanship is terrible overall"

"I contacted them several times (left messages, sent emails) to get more info on their "build on your lot program. " they never responded, even when I left messages for a specific person. If this is the kind of customer service one gets before a sale, it is easy to imagine what it may be like afterwards. And after looking up their bbb reports, I am not surprised. Stay away, that would be my advice."
