Appliances called to set up an appointment. I said, as early as possible, and she asked if 10 o' clock would be OK. You bet it would. Two guys --

-- showed up at 9:30 and got straight to work. First, they stripped out the fridge and freezer (laying everything neatly on the counter) and showed me the damage, explaining what had to be done. Within an hour they had hand-defrosted the machine and replaced all the parts in the broken defrost system with new. Within 90 minutes they had closed it all up and put all the frozen and refrigerated foods back inside. Aside from the fact that this appliance has worked perfectly since then, there was nothing to show that they had ever been there. Three person-hours labor; three brand-new parts (thermostat, coil, timer), and no mess, all for under $300?? What a deal!! These are definitely my new guys for appliance repair."

Their careful measuring the first time and clear specs made the new microwave a perfect fit. "I chose the company for the high ratings. I felt the first technician that came out was not thorough enough. He vacuumed the back of the compressor fan & suggested I wait to see if that resolved the problem. It didn't. over the next few days, I lost all the freezer food (I had already dumped 1/2). Frost sent a 2nd technician that took the interior back panel off, immediately saw no frost on the coils & knew the seal had broken & the refrigerant had drained. He explained the situation very well, made calls to insure the refrigerator was under warranty, provided a number for service & told me how to proceed. I was then back to square 1 with a service call. I felt the 2nd technician was very knowledgeable & provided the kind of service you would want however, due to the warranty, he couldn't proceed. I still obviously had to pay for a service call. I felt there were 2 errors with this service. 1) the scheduler should have recommended a GE authorized repair person to begin with. The freezer was a 2004 model & still under warranty. I didn't know that Frost wouldn't be able to service a warranty issue & I feel they should have let me know that on the front end so as not to waste the $50 on a service call. 2) the problem was very basic & common. I think the 1st technician should have looked at the coils behind the panel to determine if they were working. Since he didn't check this, I ended up having to reschedule my work commitment a 2nd time which was kind of a hassle considering it could have been picked up the first time. When the technician couldn't do the repair the 2nd time I had to arrange for a 3rd appt. with GE. This hassle was preventable on the front end if Frost had explained they couldn't do GE warranty work."
