"I'm a groomsman in a wedding and went there to buy my suit for the wedding (pre-picked by the groom). The woman who waited on me (I believe it was the manager)" and checked me out could not have been any more and rude. $250 is a LOT of money and she quickly rushed me through the transaction to get me out the door. She was noticeably annoyed I wasn't using for my tailor work. They didn't even take measurements for my waist, and didn't have me try on the pants, so when I got home and tried them on they didn't fit at all. I couldn't believe how terrible and rude their service was.

"My family has been using CE for all of our tuxedo needs for over 40 years. My sons don't even ask where they need to go for a tuxedo" for their proms- they know there is no other formal wear provider that can even touch the quality of service and merchandise that CE can provide! My older son got married last year and that was my only "demand" as the Mother of the Groom- he wore his uniform, but I told my daughter-in-law that I wanted the guys to go to CE . She initially balked as the girls got their dresses at 's Bridal, and she wanted the guys to get their tuxedos there. I stood my ground and insisted that in over 40 years my family has NEVER had a problem with CE . My husband has rented 5 tuxedos and NEVER had a problem! My younger son rented a tuxedo 1 week before his senior prom (you know 18yr old boys, they wait until the last minute). We called CE and explained the "problem". They said "It's not a problem, we have his measurements for the wedding. Just come in that day and it will be ready". NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL SERVICE! As I said before- there is no other place to rent a tuxedo except CE !

Tuxedo Rental reviews in Philadelphia

For tuxedo rental I found . They are excellent. That was expensive but they were all very nice and the quality was very good. It was all handled by the and the group. I would give it all 'A's. The quality was all good. Everything was fine.

This was not our first tux rental but it was the only time I will rent from Formal Wear. The tux we rented was nice but the sales person was rude when I asked about the price differences between tux's. I wanted something that looked nice but did not cost $300. She made a comment about always having to answer the same questions ...More every day and that 'people' should just get used to having to trust her. Answering questions is her job and since nothing was priced there was no way to figure things out myself. When we were checking out a friend of hers (she said) came up and she stopped ringing up our order to go to the next and process her friends purchase of a bow tie and then she came back to the other and finished our order. When we returned the tux I had to insist on a receipt for the return in spite of them saying ...don't worry, just hang your tux on the rack and they will close out or order/ it returned later.

They ordered the wrong attire for my wedding party, didn't try to make it right, ignored my emails complaining about it - and then emailed me twice soliciting online reviews.

I paid half the cost of my wedding party's tuxes. When my groomsmen picked up their tuxedos one of them called me ...More to say it wasn't what I'd described. I was wearing a tux shirt with pointed collars and a silk necktie, and I wanted them dressed in shirts with tab collars and bowties.

I immediately called , told them of their mistake and asked if they could get the right attire and they said they could not. I'd understand if they couldn't get different shirts the day before the wedding, but I'd have felt a lot better about it if they'd have given it the old college try.

My wife and I were VERY, VERY clear in communicating to the salesperson who helped us what we wanted, and yet somehow he wrote down something completely different.

But here's what is more unforgiveable. I emailed after the wedding and expressed my frustration. They never responded, yet they did send me two emails asking for online reviews. After the first solicitation I responded a second time telling them I was unhappy and again, no response.

Finally I called the store manager and here is what he offered to "make it right": he suggested that my entire wedding party fly back into town, I hire a photographer, and he'd give them free tuxedos so we could do a photo shoot.

So now every time I look at my wedding pictures I see that my wedding party isn't wearing what I wanted, and I think about how completely ignored my complaints.

When we arrived their was a lot of confusion and no real system on how they were handling the people waiting.
Once my son got measured we paid our for the tux which was a different price from what we were quoted ( only 2-3 dollars but still!). The sales person acted like she was doing us a tremendous favor by helping us and stopped in the middle ...More of our transaction to ring up her friends purchase of a tie and and then began our checkout again.
The tux was ok but not the best quality and looked a little shop worn/used.
When we returned the tux they said to just leave it on the counter and go but I insisted on a receipt which they provided once I made it clear that I felt it might be needed down the line. I did not feel safe trusting them to us as returned on time.
- Dina L.

I could not have been happier - they were so responsive and helpful. We went in a week prior for measurements and to place our order.
When we went back the following week to pick up the tux it was ready. They did some last minute tailoring to make sure the fit was 100% accurate.
All our questions were answered and the return window was ...More 2 days instead of just one - VERY helpful!

I needed 2 dresses altered for my son's wedding. The dresses were ordered and shipped to me so I only had just over a week to get both of them altered. When I called she was pleasant and VERY CERTAIN that she could have both dresses done on time. She said she did last minute alterations often. I showed up at the appointed ...More time with the first dress that was shipped to me and things initially seemed to go OK. However, she made a point of insulting the quality of my $260 dress and suggested that she could be my personal shopper. She pinned the dress and wrote out the receipt and I was to come back 2 days later to try the dress after the alterations, and bring my second dress in to be altered as well. When I came back I immediately tried on the altered dress and it was still too big under the arms. At first she tried to convince me that it wasn't noticeable if I didn't lift my arms, WHAT?? She finally pinned it and said she would fix the underarms for an additional $30.
I then took off the altered dress and put on my second dress that needed alterations. This dress also needed to be taken up in the shoulder area, and the under dress needed to be taken in. It also had a sash that tied in the back that I wasn't crazy about, and I tried to get some suggestions from as to what options I might have. She initially pinned the dress up in the shoulder area and then just tied the sash in a knot instead of a bow and suggested I could just wear it like that, as it wouldn't be as bulky as tying it into a bow. I wasn't satisfied with that option, but she offered no other suggestions. Then after looking in the mirror, I suggested that the dress needed to be taken up in the shoulders a bit more, as it was still sitting too low. In a frustrated manner, she quickly took the pins out of the dress and told me to go to Fabrics and see if I could find some matching lace to help cover the bust area. I told her I would, as I knew at that moment that I was NOT going to have her do any alterations on the second dress. was very pushy and over bearing and made me feel like I was an inconvenience to her. In the end, wants to do what she thinks needs to be done and has a hard time really hearing the client's wishes. She ended up making me feel very uncomfortable, so much so that my husband went and picked up the first dress from her after she finished taking in the under arm portion. When I tried that dress on at home, the under dress was still too big and still needed to be taken in. I never gave the to fix it due to the uncomfortable environment I experienced while in her presence and the high prices she charged. I also lost all faith in any of her REALLY LISTENING to what I wanted so I found another tailor who did a perfect job on both dresses for less than I paid for just the one. I will NEVER go back to this business again.

Three years ago while in San I purchased a Varvatos suit at their Street store. Being a big fan of Varvatos fashion I was very happy with my form-fitting, fit suit. Years past, life happened, and while checking the suit recently for an upcoming wedding I ...More learned I was no longer a 38L. Distressed, I went online to research what my options were and who could help me. After reviewing several review websites I decided to call who sells Varvatos to get their recommendation. Their first and only recommendation was G&N Bespoke Tailor and Alterations (I would later learn the had previously worked there). The next day I took my suit to G&N. I was warmly greeted by and tried on the suit for him to give his assessment. calmed my nerves and assured me he could take it out and it would fit just as it did new.
Today I picked up my suit, he was right! It fit just as well as it did after picking it up from the JV store after their in-house tailor made his adjustments. G&N did a great job for a very fair price. I was so impressed I dropped off a jacket that needs the shoulders taking in — once again for a very good price. I recommend G&N for any of your tailoring needs.

After a seven year suit purchasing lag, decided it was high time to buy something more appropriate for this decade. After a little research (mall vs. upscale, family owned, service oriented organization), ventured up to Plymouth. Having not yet bought into snug, mini lapeled suits and pants, I knew this upholder of classic, traditional professional ...More dress would be a great decision. greeted me immediately and inquired what I was interested in. He provided a great selection of suits, explained the differences, and showed me different shirt/tie combinations. Fitted me and had me out the door in under 20 minutes, with a commitment to have alterations done in time for my request. Alterations were perfect and timely and you'd be hard pressed to find a guy like to take care of the customer. Though I'd heard of for the past 15-20 years, had never made it to their store. They provide fantastic customer service-great recommendations and a relaxed atmosphere. It's no wonder they have thrived for so long, they make the buying experience enjoyable and provide superior product. They are the kind of business you want to promote to others as a "this is how to be successful" rather than keeping as your own little secret.
