came promptly for an initial assessment, and sent in his estimate by the next day. He then agreed to meet with all the neighbors involved while they asked additional questions, and all were very satisfied with his answers and his professionalism.
There was concern about the tree roots in particular - if they might prove to be more time-consuming than expected, what might happen to the cost.
assured us that his price was the price - he takes that risk, loses some, makes up on others sometimes.
Unfortunately for him, rain intervened, and halfway through, it ruined a whole load of hot mix, which he had to discard at considerable loss to himself. However, our price held. He and his team spent a total of a day and a half on the job. There is a slight indentation of the surface over on the tree root side, which he is coming back to deal with in the next few days. Overall, there is a vast improvement in the sloping of the driveway into the road, and good general drainage. It all comes with an unconditional 2 year warranty, but
says he would expect it to last for 25 years in general. The renewed area and driveway have a total compacted thickness of 4 inches.
One warning: The answering service you get when calling the number listed on Angie's List is very unreliable. After leaving a message 3 times and getting no response, we looked up
website and found a totally different number and somewhat different address.
father answered, and the response was immediate. If there hadn't been such a good review on Angie's List in the first place, we probably would not have persevered. Both

First class company. We initially received a free estimate based on the work we wanted done on
. Their price was right in the ballpark with other estimates. However, what sold us on the
was the confidence and knowledge exhibited. Every question was answered expertly and every challenge we presented was mitigated. They offered great suggestions to make the project not only eye appealing, but cost effective as well. We had two visits by the owner to make sure the job was going well and that we were satisfied. Asphalt Driveway reviews in Philadelphia

I called the office on Wednesday afternoon and Mr
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
returned my call the next day and set up a meeting on Friday to discuss the details and price. He was on time Monday morning completing the entire job that day. The prior driveway was a mess with holes mixed in with rocks and gravel over the years with a dirt area we used for parking. Mr
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
was on time and on budget with no additional fees and the work looks perfect.

She did a very good job, but the job was larger than anticipated and didn't call to provide a quote in advance of doing the work. She did give us a fair price on the additional work.
- BJ Z.

It went very well, workers were very good and knowledgeable. Communication with management was hindered possibly by a holiday weekend slowing down scheduling and some confusion with the date of actual work being performed. Foreman was courteous and did what I asked about trimming a piece of concrete that was an eyesore. They did more work than on paper because there was way too much ballast (and had to be removed with 3 wheel barrels full of rocks) than need to do a good job. They did whatever they needed to do to get the job done right!

From the first phone call with their office, through getting the estimate, through scheduling and completion of the work, the team at
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
were easy to work with, fair, and lived up to what they had promised. Both we and our neighbors, who went in with us on the work, are extremely satisfied with the results.

No problems of any kind and a great result
An estimate was provided on Friday, 1.6.2012, and both the section of pavement removal and the area of addtional pavement were marked at the time of the estimate in orange spray paint. I was given a written estimate. I was given time, before accepting, to check credentials on the Internet and AngiesList. While the price seemed high compared to others on Angies List,
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
, my contact, gave reasonable explanations for the price. He gave me his cell phone to call with subsequent questions or concerns if any.
The crew showed up on Monday, mid-morning, and performed the paving, as promised, .The project took 5 hours and was complete by 3 PM.
I paid no money up front, and I paid with a personal check upon completion of the project. I was given a one year guarantee, but a verbal offer to return after that for any problems. I was advised to call for a asphalt-based sealing in 18 months.
The site was left very clean.
The company had a team of at least 7 men, and two brothers,

and Rich, the great-grandchildren of the company founder, were working supervisors.
The team had on-site a small front end loader, the asphalt spreader and a roller, and seemed fully equipped for efficient work The team worked consistently from 1030AM to 2:30 PM.

My wife and I needed a new driveway and sidewalk. The driveway probably hadn't been done since the house was built in the 60's, but we, as the new homeowners of just two years, realized we needed a professional to redo everything.

covering/coating wouldn't do the trick. We interviewed three different contractors -- tried contacting six -- but two of the three failed to respond/provide quotes in a timely fashion which they said they would. When a contractor misses their own deadline by days, if not weeks, without apology, I take that as a poor sign of business.

got back to me at multiple times promptly. Honestly, his bid came in higher than others, but he's the only one who seemed to have the professionalism to get the job done. In fact, I doubted the true quotes I got from the other contractors since the responsiveness and professionalism, and overall confidence in them seemed shaky.

and his G&V crew met all their deadlines, and did a great job, never bothering anyone. Hire them. They're worth it.

My wife and I needed our driveway paved, so we called a few contractors for estimates. One person we were eager to get an estimate from was Mr.
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
due to his fine reviews on this site. Instead, I received the absolute rudest treatment I have ever received from any businessperson in my entire life.

In late August, I spoke to Mr.
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
about coming out to give us an estimate. He took our address and told me he would be out after work the following Monday or Tuesday. I hurried home from work the following Monday, but Mr.
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
didn't show up. So I hurried home the following day, expecting to see Mr.
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
, but he didn't show up then either. The following week, I called him back to see what had happened. He didn't have any explanation for his failure to show up the previous week, but he offered to come out after work that Friday to do the estimate. Once again, I hurried home from work to meet Mr.
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
. Once again, he failed to show up. I called ten days or so later and left a voicemail asking what had happened and seeing if he was going to provide the estimate. He never called me back.

A month or so went by, during which my wife and I both changed jobs. When things settled down a bit, I decided to give Mr.
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
one last try. He had failed to show up twice and then failed to return my call, and I was going to write a fairly harsh review here on Angie's List, but I figured that as a courtesy to Mr.
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
I would give him a call and let him know that his lack of professionalism had put him in
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
of receiving a very poor review on Angie's List unless he could somehow remedy the situation. This was a courtesy that I hadn't felt he'd earned, but anyone can have a bad day, or even a bad month, so I extended it to him nonetheless.

That thing about no good
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
going unpunished? It's absolutely true.

I have literally just hung up with Mr.
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
. I wanted to write this review while our conversation is still fresh in my mind. I am paraphrasing most of our conversation, but other things I am quoting directly. Anyway, I left a voicemail today letting him know that I intended to write a negative review on Angie's List, and could he please call me back to discuss how to remedy the situation. He called me back tonight (apparently, dropping the Angie's List name will get you a call back where all else fails) and told me that I was outside the area in which he worked. He said that he had gotten halfway to my place on his way to meet me and realized that I was too far away for him to do the paving work. This was a surprise to me - when we'd initially spoken, I'd told him my exact address and what area of Philadelphia I lived in. How it is that he wasn't able to pop my address into Google Maps and realize I was too far away is beyond me. (In fact, how he didn't know off the top of his head which areas of Philadelphia he serves is also kind of beyond me.) "You call me and threaten a bad review - you can write what you want on Angie's List," he added.

I asked him why he didn't bother to call me to tell me that I was out of his service area, instead of simply no-showing our appointments and failing to return my phone call. I wasn't angry that I was out of his area - it can't be helped, after all, the laws of geography being what they are. I was angry that I had scurried home from work no less than three times only for Mr.
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
to no-show without so much as an explanation, an "I'm sorry," or a return of my subsequent phone call. His response?

"I thought you'd figure it out when you didn't hear from me."

I was a little surprised by this explanation, so I asked a fairly
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
series of questions:

"You're a small businessman, right? You're a professional?"

"Do you feel that I have received professional service here?"

Long pause. Then, finally, "Look, if you can't find a contractor to pave your driveway in two months, that says a lot more about you than me."

Now I was starting to get angry. I told him that I'd called him as a courtesy to let him know that he was going to get a bad review on Angie's List if he didn't have some sort of explanation or couldn't otherwise make things right. Maybe he'd had a family emergency or something - after all, it happens. "And this is my reward? For you to call me an idiot?"

"I didn't call you an idiot."

"You said that if I couldn't find a contractor in two months that says more about me than you. What else is that supposed to mean?"

He didn't answer. By this point, my wife had taken interest in our conversation.

"Besides, I did get estimates from other contractors. The price was higher than I would have liked. I wanted an estimate from you because people on Angie's List said that you were coming in below other estimates."

"That's right. I have lots of satisfied customers, for 23 years. And, you know, maybe I do have some things going on in my life. You're nobody to me. So you write what you want on Angie's List."

"You're nobody to me?" I repeated, staring at my wife with disbelief. "I don't have to 'write what I like.' I'm just gonna write down what you say. You're killing yourself here." My wife, taking my
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
, flipped open the laptop and typed, "You're nobody to me." Personally, I think this would make a great slogan:
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
- You're Nobody to Us!

"I mean, you're not family or anything. Maybe I have something going on in my life. I don't have to explain myself to you. So you write what you want. Have a nice life. Goodbye."

Maybe Mr.
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
was having a bad day, week, or month. Maybe he believes that paving is never having to say you're sorry. Maybe he's been possessed by aliens. Who knows? What I do know is that my experience with him was the polar opposite of all the glowing reviews on this website. So if this is the kind of person you want to do business with, then by all means, pick up the phone and give Mr.
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
a buzz. But if you expect
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
things like a contractor who shows up, who returns calls, and who has a basic knowledge of what area he serves, then I strongly advise looking elsewhere. As Mr.
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
made abundantly clear to me, he doesn't need your business.
- Amanda S.

It could not have been a better experience. Mr
Philadelphia Asphalt Driveway Contractors Provider Name Locked
honored an estimate he gave me almost a year ago. I received several estimates and his was among the least expensive, but he does extremely good work. I am very pleased with his responsiveness, workmanship and price. I highly recommend him.
