"Dr. has the best manner of any dentist I have met so far. He thoroughly explained everything and made me feel at ease and comfortable. " The staff is great too and services are performed top notch. Highly recommend.

-Marcia G.

"I have just started a long course of treatment with Dr to rebuild and restore my smile, I had my 4th or 5th visit today. It is going better" than expected, she has affordable finance options to cover uncovered cost, she explained all the steps involved and the time it will take to complete. Her staff is fantastic, friendly and gentle. I would recommend her to anyone.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic, or aesthetic, dentistry focuses on improving the overall appearance of your teeth. Cosmetic treatments include any technique that involves whitening, restoring or straightening the teeth by a dentist or orthodontist.

I am familiar witht he ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers across the country, in particluar, the one in Overland Park, KS.  They are a "one stop" implant center.  The doctors there are at the top of their field, and an advantage is that you have all of the specialists that will be working with you in the same place.  That would have to make communication easier between doctors.  They usually offer seminars for patients and I think, offer free consultations, which is always worthwhile.

If you chose to go the other way, some Prosthodontists will place and restore the implants themselves. In other cases, an Oral Surgeon or Periodontist will place the implant and a Prosthodontist or General Dentist restores it.   Fees can vary quite a bit from office to office and with the different options for restorative materials.  Some offer free consultations, for others, they charge a fee that might be applied to any future treatment in some cases.

The first step is to schedule a few consultations with different providers, which it sounds like you've already done.

The most important factors when deciding which practitioner to work with:
.1.  You should feel comfortable asking your doctor any questions so that you have a good understanding of the procedure itself, healing time and long-terem outcome, and possible complications.  Write down a list of questions and take them with you to the consultation.

2.  Ask about the experience of the practitioner. How many similiar procedures have they completed?  Have they had any major complications with any cases?  Ask to see photos if possible.

3..Figure out if it works out better for your schedule, to go to a "one stop" provider or to separate providers for the placement and the restoration of the implants.

4. Follow your instincts.  If you feel rushed, didn't get direct answers to your questions, didn't communicate well or had any other negative feelings, this probably isn't the doctor for you.

5. Consider insurance coverage and financing options.  If your dental plan covers implants and it is important to you to use a preferred provider, you will want to check your list.  Many times, insurance does not cover implants, or at least not all of the steps.  You may want to inquire about payment and financing options.

I hope this at least helps you feel a little less confused and a little more directed. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of further help.

Dear jacknd... I was very sad to hear about the problem you had with your dentures, but not surprised. The fabrication of dentures is actually a complex treatment, and requires many steps to create comfortable, functional dentures. That is why well made dentures are usually expensive. It is not always true that 'you get what you pay for', but certainly, if dentures are inexpensive, that means that many critical steps in the treatment are omitted to reduce cost. Most people are unaware that the most expensive part of making dentures is the time that the doctor spends working on them. A denturist is a techincian, not a doctor. They can make moulds and set teeth in plastic, but they are unqualified to deal with the complexities of muscular function, and proper esthetics. To complicate things further, modern dental schools are spending much less time educating doctors about how to make dentures, since dentures are becoming a less common treatment. The emphasis is now on saving teeth. I would recomend that if you seek further treatment, you seek a dentist who went to dental school no later than the 1970's (like me). We spent a long time perfecting our denture skils when I was attending  University of Oregon Dental School. All the best, Dr. Stern (Philadelphia, PA)

Dr. gave me a beautiful smile. Dedication, compassion & perfection are qualities of Dr. and her staff. I started going to her office 12 years ago when I broke my front tooth. Dr. bonded it and when I looked in the mirror, I couldn't even tell which tooth it was. Since ...More then, I've had my teeth whitened, had veneers put on my upper front teeth which had spaces and were crooked before and had all my silver fillings replaced with white ones. Now I love my new smile & I have confidence when I talk to people which is very important because I have a job in public relations.

Everything has gone extremely smoothly. Dr. referred be to a root canal specialist just a short walk away because of my medical complications. They were able to see me immediately and did an excellent job. Dr. ' office has been efficient at scheduling appointments and billing my insurance. The ...More work, itself, is letter perfect. I can't even tell which teeth have the crowns when I look in the mirror. Dr. and her staff are considerate about applying an anaesthetic gel to the before giving injections. Nobody likes going to the dentist, but Dr. made it as convenient and comfortable as possible and did excellent work.

Dr has been my dentist for approx 10 years. He is a wonderful human being and his work is impeccable My most memorable and satisfying experience was last May. I had a scheduled vacation to Italy planned for May and approx 1 week before the trip I experienced tooth pain. The pain was referred pain and involved several teeth ...More on one side of my mouth . He was extremely responsive to my needs to diagnose the problem and fix it so that I could go on vacation pain free.. His diagnosis was accurate and on target and my problem was resolved and I enjoyed my vacation in Italy.
- Marlene M.

I began treating with Dr approximately 30 years ago. My dental health was poor when I first began treatment and the of keeping my teeth was also poor. Since then I have received extensive dental work from Dr . Through execellent care my teeth were saved with greatly improved appearance. ...More His evaluations and advice were always accuate and the treatment plans well thought out and well executed. My overall condition and ability to finance treatment were always given consideration.

We're all in on a regular basis for our dental work. No complaints. Whether it is a filling or working with implants, he pays great attention to detail. we've been going regularly for over 20 years, since he started in practice. Need I say, he's also a nice guy and very approachable.
